AELIA REVA
My heartbeat has calmed down now but there's still a discomfort of sort feeling in my heart.
Was I having a heart attack or something?
I ignore it for now. I'll worry about it later.
"So what kind of job are you looking for?" Tyler asks me as he shows me around the town.
Well, let's see.
The only things I'm skilled in are hiding, running, and reading books.
wow, I'm so impressive damn.
"Well with how GREATLY skilled I am, probably a waitress at the moment," I say sarcastically, not that I think waiting is a bad profession.
I think it's a tough job. I don't have the patience and confidence to do that kind of job but I think I'll have to do it, considering I didn't go to college and have no experience whatsoever.
Tyler shakes his head at my tone and looks at me softly.
" Well darling, you are in luck cause I have two offers for you." He says giving me the infamous mischievous smile that makes him appear more attractive.
I give him a suspicious glance before speaking again.
"And what those might be?" I inquire him hoping something might come out good from his mouth.
"Well, The first offer is that you could work at the town's cafe, there was a ' we're hiring' sign back in there." He says nodding his head to the side.
Oh, I didn't notice the sign.
But hey I might have a chance to get a job!
"And the second one, You could work at the town's library. You said you like reading books, if you take this job you'll get to take care of them too.
Plus you don't have to do much either and I think it is better than the other job coz you won't have to interact with as many people in the cafe an-"
I cut off his rant about me working at the library.
"You are right about that. Although I need to think about it. How much will I get paid for working at the library?"
"Well you'll get 20$ per hour, so if you'll be working for, let's say 6 hours, you'll be making around 3000$ monthly. I think it's good for starters."
That's not bad actually. I only need to take care of myself and that much money is enough for me. I think I'll be able to save some even.
"That's pretty nice. Where is the library? Can we go there now?" I ask him rather eagerly making him laugh.
"Sure we can just five more minutes of walking." He says and we walk for the cars to stop so we can cross the road.
Soon the sign for crossing the road turns green and the cars stop.
"Come," Tyler says and grabs my wrist and crossed the road with me looking at him with wide eyes.
That is such a sweet thing.
I don't know about anyone else but when a man does these bare minimum things it makes my heart melt.
Stop it, heart.
We walk for a minute or two and he takes a right turn and incomes a magnificent sight.
There, stands an architectural masterpiece.
Damn, some might think it's a castle if it wasn't for the huge library sign.
"It's marvelous isn't it?" Tyler asks me as he notices my dumbfounded expression.
"It sure is, any interesting facts about this library, old man?" I ask him with a teasing smile looking at him earning an eye roll from him.
Throughout this little...outing of ours, he's been educating me about the town. Giving me facts about what happened around the town and how.
Like when we were walking after buying our drinks, he told me how the café was built and that it was constructed like four decades ago and that HE was one of the first employees there so basically he's very old.
And I've been asking about his age this whole time but he won't tell me. He ignores the question every time by complimenting me.
He was so enthusiastic talking about this town though. I swear his eyes lit up when he talked about this town.
"I'm NO old man darling but yes this library was the office of the Alpha Knight the first. Now only the top floor of this building is the office of Alpha Ulric. The rest of the building is used as a library."
Alpha Ulric.
Again that name sends a shock through my body.
"That reminds me, you have to meet the Alpha. He's back in the town. If you were a human it wouldn't be a problem if you didn't meet him but since you're.....kind of a werewolf? You get me?" He asks me and I nod at him as we walk inside the building.
So I have to meet him too. I know I'll have to because whenever a wolf wants to join a pack they'll have to meet the alpha so he can decide if the world is capable of joining the pack.
Oh, my goddess what if he doesn't want me in his pack after he sees what a disappointment I am.
"Don't worry he won't kill you or throw you out of the town. He is ruthless and rude most of the time but he has a nice soul and heart." Tyler tries to comfort me.
He's ruthless. Great for me.
But he said he's got a good heart.
We'll just have to wait and see that, won't we?
He walks me through the big doors of the library and the view in front of my eyes makes me jump in contentment.
Shelves upon shelves full of God knows books.
There's a staircase that leads to the upper floor and from what I can see from here it is equally marvelous as this floor.
Tyler walks me to the little platform in the giant room, where a woman in her what looks like 50 in human age with glasses and hair up in a bun and a book in her hand is sitting on a desk.
We walk onto the little platform and Tyler moves his hand and curls it to knock on the table.
"No noise in the library." The woman says in a stern voice looking at us with her sharp gaze.
"We didn't even do anything yet, Maria," Tyler says with a big grin on his face, and the woman, Maria rolls her eyes at him.
Do they know each other? seems like it.
"What do you want now?" She asks him and closes her book and folds her arms and moves her eyes from him towards me.
"And who might this be?" She asks, staring from head to toe.
"Well, this is Aelia Reva, a wonderful lady." He says winking at me making me shake my head at his tactics.
"This is Maria Knight the librarian and is currently displeased by my presence if you can't tell," Tyler whispers the last part in my ear but Maria seemed to hear that.
She throws her book at him which he catches it quickly while looking at me smirking.
She turns her attention to me and gives me a small smile. "Nice to meet you, Sweetheart, What are you doing with your life hanging around with this creature?"
She asks me making me laugh softly at her question.
"Ouch, creature, really?" Tyler expresses with his hand on the left side of the chest. "That heart right in the heart."
"You don't have a heart vamp." She says with an expressionless face. Her comment earns a deadpan look from Tyler and a laugh from me.
"Stop making fun of me witch and listen to me." Oh, so she's a witch.
"I'm listening, speak." She says straightening in her seat.
"Lia here wants a job. so I recommended you to her. Could she work with you?" He asks him in a sweet tone.
She moves her sharp eyes to me which makes me want to apologize for something I'm not sure of.
"Do you know how to organize things and kick out annoying people?" She asks me with a raised eyebrow.
Tyler laughs silently beside me but stops when Maria glares at him.
" I can do the first one. The second one, I haven't done that but I think I can do it." I let out making Maria nod her head slowly.
After a deafening minute of silence.
"Great! you're hired! You can start tomorrow. You'll be working seven hours from Monday to Friday. You'll get your salary at the end of the month. Does 25$ per hour sounds good to you?" She asks me and I feel like jumping with joy.
"it's great. Thank you."
"Don't be late. Now sho let me read." She says getting back to her book.
Tyler takes my hand and walks me out of the library.
As soon as we are out I hug the life of Tyler as he laughs at my excitement.
"Thank you so much!"
"It's no big deal love. Now come on let's go home so we can celebrate this with some wine and those creatures we call friends."
" It is a big deal for me and we don't have to celebrate it. They might be busy anyway." I reason him.
He looks at me like I've said something stupid and turns to me holding my shoulders and being a little.
"Darling, if it is a big deal to you, it is to me and the others too so we are gonna celebrate it like a family we are. I know you just came here but we all have accepted you as a family so you don't get to say no. Understood?" He lectures me which makes me feel warm from inside. I nod at him.
"And for the 'they must be busy' part, Darling they are over 200 hundred years old they don't have anything to do to keep them busy." I laugh making him smile in return.
We walk back to the inn and get inside to see Victoria and the boys hanging out in the living room.
"We're back!" Tyler shouts and they all look at us, greeting us, and start asking questions.0
"Where were you?"
"It's been almost the whole day."
"How was the date?"
The last one was from Victoria.
I give her a 'really' look and she shrugs her shoulder with a stupid smirk on her face.
"It was not a date. Tyler was just showing me around the town. That's all."
"Mmhmm" Vincent lets out making everyone laugh.
"Hey! You leave her alone. Hector get some good wine from your hidden cabinet. We got some celebrating to do." Tyler tells Hector nudging my arm lightly.
"What for?" Caleb asks with a confused face and everyone nods.
"Well, our little Lia got a job!"
"Oh my God! that's great! I am so happy for you!" Victoria exclaims and hugs me.
"What is the job about?" Vernon asks.
"Oh, it's nothing big. I am just helping out at the library." I say and they all congratulate me.
"I'm gonna grab the wine bottle," Hector says and goes upstairs.
"Great we can have it with dinner. It's ready anyways. Come let's do to the dining area." Victoria says and the twins and Caleb follow her to the dining area.
"let's go get into comfy clothes Darlin," Tyler says and we both walk you to the second floor with his hand on my back.
After changing into some shorts and an off-shoulder shirt I brush my hair and leave them hanging on my back and shoulders.
I walk down the stairs and to the dining room to see everyone already sitting down.
"Sorry for making you guys wait," I say as I sit down beside Tyler, Where are sat down the other day.
"It's not a problem Lia. Now let's dig in. Shall we?" Caleb says and we all start eating dinner.
After eating dinner Hector opens up the bottle of wine and everyone hangs out in the living room for an hour or two.
Which consisted of Hector and Tyler teasing Victoria and me, and Caleb roasting and chasing the twins around.
I make my way up to my room with the help of Tyler holding my hand and guiding me to the stairs as I am a little drunk from the wine.
We reach my room and I turn around to thank him for the day.
I had so much fun today.
"Thank you for spending the day with me. I had such a great time. I haven't laughed so much before." I let our quietly and look up into his eyes to find him already staring at me with a dazed look.
"Should I be saying that love?" still gazing at me.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I ask him whispering.
He looks at me for a second before leaning towards my face a little.
"Cause you're breathtakingly beautiful." He exhales and presses his forehead to mine closing his eyes making me do it too.
"Dear Lord, You have no idea how much I wish you were made for me but you're not."
