Alexa
After three days she was ready to leave. She glanced at her house for one last time. She had already given the key to Mr. Callous and asked him to sell the house.
She sighed, got into her car and without a glance back, she drove away. She passed the cemetery and her eyes became moist. The day before she had spent her whole day with her mother and had given her a bunch of fresh flowers. Without sparing a glancing at her father's tomb she had returned to her house to pack. She took the little clothes she had and took her mother's diary which was filled with techniques on how to kill vampires. She will need all the knowledge if she was also going to be a vampire hunter. She was so concentrated on getting out of the city borders that she didn't see the crowd gathered around their father's tomb, which was situated up the hill.
A crowd of black dressed people were gathered around their master's tomb and their leader knelt at her father's tomb. "We did it papa, we killed the leader of the vampire hunter. She was such a weakling that it was too easy to take her down, but still I couldn't kill one who killed you. I am so sorry papa, but next time I will not fail you. I will rip her head right off her shoulder and the nerve of them to bury her next to you. Next time master and papa, I will succeed!" She said while all the other vampires bared their fangs and hissed in happiness....
Alexa decided to head towards the east after going around in circles. She had little money and she knew that it would be time before she'd have to sell her car too.
It was night time when she finally arrived in a totally new countryside with a few cafes, shops, bakeries, a garage and little apartments with woods on either side of the road and some luxurious houses. It was a beautiful area and she was lost in its unnatural beauty.
She was parked and was gazing at the stars, enraptured by their brightness and twinkling when she smelled smoke.
"Oh shit!" She slapped her head as she killed the engine and got out of the car, followed by smoke from the engine.
"You okay miss?" came a deep voice towards her left.
"Um yeah, it's just a little overheating," said Alexa as she turned and looked at the handsome guy in front of her.
Oh my, she thought.
He was tall about 6"2 and had straight jet-black hair, which was styled and pulled back with a red bandana but it just fell over his eyes which were sea- green. He had a little scar under his left eye and a sharp jaw bone with a little stubble. He was muscular and his tight fitted shirt showed off his perfectly sculptured chest. He looked as if he had walked just out of her male modelling magazine, which she had hide under her bed at home, if not for the grease stains on his white shirt and tight pants.
He is bad news, she thought as he was totally her type, shut up, Alexa, focus.
As her eyes meet his, they were sparkling with amusement. Alexa blushed, she knew that she had drooled and admired him in front of his own eyes and he knew it. She mentally slapped herself.
She cleared her throat.
"Little help?" She asked.
"Yeah, sure. What do you want me to do?" He winked.
Oh god, she thought as she groaned. "Just make sure that no part of the engine is dama-"
"Yeah, yeah, I know, " he said, smirking and brushed past her towards her car.
"The nerve, " she grumbled.
"You said something miss?"
"No," she snapped.
"Feisty," he said and took out his phone.
"Ok fine, just make sure it is all set. I am just going to the cafe and-" she stopped herself staring at the money he was holding at her.
" Why are you giving me money?"
"So that you can buy me something to eat too," came the reply.
"And what made you think that I'd buy you food?"
"Well because you know that your car is totally at my mercy and you don't want me to-" he was about to go on smugly but she snapped, "Fine!"
She stomped towards the nearest cafe muttering under her breath. After eating some burgers and drinking a milkshake she headed towards her car and gave the guy his lunch.
"Took you long enough," he said, as she frowned and took his food from her.
He munched away in silence, looking at her.
"You know that it's not safe for a girl like you to wander alone at night," came the reply.
"Excuse me, for your information, I am a woman and my parents are just around the corner," she lied. "And what do you mean by a girl like me? Is it because you think I am not capable and look after myself?"
"Oh, didn't you look at yourself in a mirror lately? Anyway, I thought you should know, you suck at lying." And with that he walked away.
She stared at him dumbfounded.
Alexa rushed towards the rereview mirror and looked at herself. What's wrong? She asked herself as she checked herself. She looked towards the direction he went but he was already gone. He didn't even introduce himself, stupid, hot, annoying idiot, she thought.
She locked herself inside her car, too lazy to find an apartment, and let sleep overtake her.
Never did she know that someone was hiding in the wood, protecting her, monitoring her every breath and move.
At 9.30a.m when she finally woke up, she headed towards the same cafe she got her food yesterday night. She glanced at the garage but it was still close. She bought the newspaper from a nearby shop and sat down in her car with her coffee to read it. After three pages, she found what she was looking for: Job opportunity at The Great House.
With not enough money, hoping to work nevertheless before finding about vamps, she planned to drive there and start work.
After thirty minutes, she stopped in front of a two-story house which had a large garden and a pond. She let out the breath she never knew was holding and walked up towards the gate, her hand trembling slightly as she gripped the newspaper article.
