"Hazel please just give me her phone number. I have been doing anything and everything just get her number from you I think I deserve to have it now." I told Hazel.
"But what if she doesn't want to hear from you?" Hazel asked me with an intimidating stance.
"I'll try to get her to talk to me, somehow." I replied casually.
Hazel shakes her head at him and laughed. "You're so whipped" she said as she continues to tell people how she wants decoration.
I simply rolled my eyes at this and smiled sadly. I am whipped and I had the chance to make things right with Alethea but then I forgot. No matter how badly I wanted to make excuses as to why I didn't show up for their date I knew that it was my own fault. I simply just...…. forgot about the date.
We have been in Fiji for 2 days now and our date was about a week ago. Hazel has me running around different kinds of errands for her and I was and is still happy to oblige because I just want Alethea's number. Like I mentioned, I owe her a massive apology and I hope she gives me another chance. Although I kind of deserved none. I mean first the frisbee and now the date. What's next? I forget our own wedding?
'Great! Wait.... what?? Wedding?? Where did that thought come from?' I quickly brushed it off and hope that I still stand a chance.
"Tell you what. As soon as Alethea and the kids get here and if she acknowledges your presence than only then, I will proceed to give you, her number. Because unlike you cousin, I am all about consent." Hazel simply said before walking away towards Ben.
'Great!! I hope Alethea is nice. I mean I know she is nice I just hope that she does acknowledge me. I won't blame her if she doesn't because frankly, I know that's how women are when they're being stood up on their first date.' I sadly thought.
Anyways, I was supposed to be having a conference call today. If it wasn't for Hazel dragging me out of my meetings 2 days ago, I would have been stuck in my office all week working on projects, attending meetings and business dinners. But since I am now in Fiji, I better make use of this time to relax.
My phone ringing brought me out of my thoughts and I quickly fished my phone out of my pocket to see my assistant calling me. I mumbled curses under my breath as I answer his call.
"Yes. Is it ready?" I asked him professionally.
"Sir, actually they would much prefer to have the meeting face to face than the video conference. They have asked to—"
"Reschedule?? When have you put the meeting on? It better be when I get back" I simply stated. Dan is a good assistant. He does what he's told and is very efficient with his work. I hired him after seeing his resume and the fact that he stood up to some stuck up people applying to be my assistant. We work well together; he has been my assistant for the past 5 years and we're good friends.
"I have put the meeting 4 days after you arrive back from Fiji. Along with the meeting with Mr. Graviel sir, Graviel Enterprises" Dan simply said.
"Mr. Graviel? Did he say what the meeting is about?" I asked Dan.
I can't help but feel like I am being timed. 2 months and 1 week have already passed and I am simply not anywhere near the first date with Alethea. I know Alethea is not the kind to just get married fast and that too to a complete stranger but I just know that she's the one for me.
"No sir, he didn't mention anything in regards to your meeting only that he is looking forward to the wedding" Dan says.
Jacob clenched his jaw in irritation for Mr. Graviel and his daughter. " They're always trying something. And if I find my father helping them out in any way, I will politely leave the company back to his very capable hands. I am not stupid; I know that if I am not engaged in 2 months' time, I will lose the company if I don't marry Penelope Graviel and I'd rather be single and jobless than be rich and miserable." I thought bitterly.
"Thank you, Dan., I will let you know if there is something else that I need you for. At the moment since I am not at the company at the moment, please take a few days leave yourself and go visit your family. You've earned it" I told him.
He snorted "Humph you're just telling me that because you're not here to boss me around" he laughed.
"Do you want me to change my mind?" I teased back.
"I will gladly the few days off your royal highness" he says sarcastically.
I laughed and he quickly hung up. I got up from the chair I was sitting on and stroll over to the front hotel lobby. 'I'm sure there's something's here that I can do to pass time' I thought as I quickly make my way to the reception area and ask for advice or preferably a tour guide.
"Bula" the receptionist says as I approached her.
"Bula" I replied but I am pretty sure I pronounced it a bit wrong because a few natives were laughing at me and probably what I said.
'I think it is best if I just go on by myself to see the town and the sights it has to offer. I've only been to Fiji for work, meetings and business proposals but never had the time to go about and see the place.' I thought as I ask for a map of the town to which the receptionist smiled confusingly at me.
"Apologies sir, we normally would assign a tour guide with you and because we don't have maps of the place but I can print you one. Would you like that copy?" the reception asked me nicely. Much too nicely for my taste.
"That'll be great actually. And can you please point out the best places to eat at? That would be lovely" I stated. She nodded and started drawing circles on restaurant and places to visit for souvenirs.
After a minute or two she handed me the map and I quickly head back to my hotel room to get my wallet. As I quickly make my way out the hotel, I can't help but think 'when are they going to get here?'
