Alethea's POV: (OCTOBER 30TH, 2021)
The flight was an hour delayed and well not exactly what I had in mind when Ben said he took care of everything. I mean I am grateful that Ben took care of everything but he didn't really have to go over. First class costs a fortune and for what?? Everyone's ears still pop!! Ridiculous…. super ridiculous.
We quickly got out of the airport only to see Ben there with Hazel waiting for us.
"Why are you guys here?? Don't you have a wedding to plan?" I asked them clearly not happy that they are ignoring their ceremony preparations just to meet us at the airport.
"See I knew she was going to act like this. What did I tell you Hazel? What did I tell you about Alethea?" Ben chuckled as he started grabbing our bags and putting them into a much different car from Hazel.
I frowned at that bit. "What's going on?? What are you guys planning now?" I asked them with an accusing glance.
Hazel just smiles at me as she started taking Nicky and Maddy away from me and towards Ben. What are they up to now? I thought ridiculously.
"Maddy, Nicky you guys want to hit the water slide? Or go for ice cream? Whatever you guys want to do, we can do it all today" Ben says and smiling at them with a wink towards Hazel who then turned towards me with a huge grin on her face.
'Oh no. What did I get myself into now?' I thought as I look around at the twins then at Hazel and Ben with a puzzled look on my face.
"We're going on a girl's day out!!!!" Hazel squealed out loud as she started dragging me towards the other car.
"Uhm--- wha" I mumbled out before Ben started waving at us along with Nicky and Maddy who has huge smiles on their faces.
I sat down on the passenger side and cast a look on the rearview mirror to see the twins once more. We have never been separated like this and I don't like this feeling. I have been protecting them ever since they were born. We have only ever been separated if I ever have to go work and they stay home with Rachel their babysitter or with James only when he doesn't have class. So, for us to have the day to ourselves without each other is new territory for us, more likely for me and I am not feeling at all comfortable leaving the twins and even though she trusts Ben to keep them safe she still feels uneasy.
'Where are you guys headed? Will it be safe?' – A
I text Ben as I start feeling more uncomfortable with this.
'Eii, we'll be fine Thea. You enjoy your day and make sure knowing Hazel…. y'all will be running around with shopping bags.' – B
I breathed out in relief with Ben's text. I trust him to keep them safe but I am still a wee bit skeptical. Can't help it.
"Girl they will be fine. Let loose and stop worrying" Hazel said as she pulled up to a small café around the corner of the street, we were on a few seconds ago.
"First up on our list of 'Girls Day out' in Fiji is coffee. You coming?" she asked as she started to make her way into the luxurious café.
"Why are we having a 'Girls Day out' when we already had one about last 2 weeks?" I asked her.
Hazel just looked at me with a confusion expression as she proudly declares that 'girls can never had enough of girls day out and it should be done daily to prevent us from going insane with men'
Whatever that means.
5 HOURS LATER:
I officially hate girls' day out with Hazel. She is insatiable when it comes to shopping. Both of my feet are killing me, I am tired, I am hungry and I am really really really pissed off at Ben for not warning me about this.
'He did warn you' my conscious said.
'He did not!' I yelled to my conscious, or at least I thought I did and Hazel looked at me asking 'He did not, what?'
'Well thank you very much for this lovely conversation. I got to head back and pretend that I don't exist for s couple of seconds.' My conscious said…. again.
I turned towards Hazel and just shrugged waving it off as if it's nothing interesting.
"Hazel, sis. I love you. You know that right?" I asked her trying to get to her good side before I place in my demands.
She just nodded with a smile and went back to picking out cute matching clothes for the twins.
"Great! Now that you know that I dearly love you as my sister because frankly you are, as soon as you get married to Ben but would it be very possible for us to get something to eat. I am starving" I say dramatically emphasis on the starving part.
She laughed.
Can you believe this?
She actually had the audacity to laugh at me and my miserableness when she is the one who has been dragging me from shop to shop.
"Sis, we just had coffee a few minutes ago. I am not even that hungry."
"A few minutes?? A few minutes??" now I am more pissed at Ben than ever.
"It was 5 hours ago. 5 hours ago!! We had that coffee 5 hours ago. I am starving. I am hungry and if I don't have any food in the next 5 minutes, I will throw all the clothes you just bought out the dumpster." I said, really trying my best not to lash out.
Hazel looked at me with wide eyes and dropped what she was holding.
"To the restaurant it is" she whispered out.
"Thank you" I said with a smug smile.
"Ben was right. You are scary when you don't have food in your belly" she said while shuddering and clutching her clothes close to her chest.
She quickly led us to a 5-star restaurant where she threw a fit about the place being full and not available to any more customers.
I apologized for her behavior and quickly dragged her out of there.
"How dare they say no more tables are unavailable? And they expect us to wait 2 hours for a table? Heck no." she said and continue to mumble profanities at them.
"Chill sis, we can go to any other restaurant. Let's go this way. Aren't you tired of 5-star restaurants and 5-star services? Let's try something new" I told her trying to calm her down.
We're both pissed off and one of us has to be calm.
We finally found a small restaurant. Hazel was skeptical about it at first but I told her its fine and that my family used to come here back when we used to live here and come around this place for a visit.
As soon as we settled down, I placed our order by the counter and went back to Hazel only to see her on her phone.
"Who are you texting?" I asked her to which she quickly hid her phone from my line of sight.
I raised my eyebrow at her and looked at her with both of my arms crossed in front of my chest.
I kept looking at her and she avoids eye contact with me.
Our food arrived and none of us made any attempt to start eating it.
I am not going to crack first. She has to tell me what is going on but I kind of new what she is hiding or at least a close idea to it.
"I was texting Jacob ok. There now you know. Can we eat now?" she says and grumbly took her food and started eating it.
I laughed at how easily she caved in. She pouted at me and teased me with her tongue out like a 5-year-old having a show down with her friends deciding whose doll is the prettiest.
"Its ok Hazel. Not everyone can hold out as long as you have" I teased her with a smug smile.
"You're so mean" she pouted at me again and continue to eat.
After we ate our food and I am satisfied. Hazel resumed her crazy shopping spree and as always, dragging me around with her to every store.
Although we have already eaten, I am still tired and 1 hour of feet rest while we ate was not enough for me. Just as I was about to tell Hazel that I am tired when she beat me to it and what came out of her mouth sounds very pleasing to my ears.
"We are going to get our nails done, get a massage and our hair done. That's the last of it. Afterwards we're going home and just rest" she mumbled.
"See you're not so bad yourself when you're shopping and remember people around you" I teased.
She rolled her eyes at me and proceeded. "Ok, ok I get it. Let's go"
