Chapter 20 - Third Person's POV: (Same Day)

Jacob was wandering around the town until he grew hungry and decided to check out a few restaurants. Hazel has been texting him what she was doing with Alethea every minute of the day and even though he doesn't have the courage to talk to her just yet considering he stood her up on their first date that was meant to be an amendment on their first 'not-so-friendly' introduction with the frisbee. Of course, he blames himself and his stupidity but he's still thinking on what to do in order to begin making things right with Alethea, not to mention he only has a month left.

It wasn't until he walked around for a while and turned a corner that he heard a very laughter nearby an antique shop. He looked around for the source of that melodic laughter and saw a woman much similar height and hair color to the woman he can't get rid of from his mind.

He walked towards her and stood behind her without anything planned in his mind for him to say towards her to justify his actions both the past and recent events.

"Ohh hey Jacob. Took you long enough." Hazel mumbled making Alethea turned towards her with a pointed look.

*Clears throat*

"I mean...uhm, fancy seeing you here cousin. How…. how did you end up here?" Hazel asked looking everywhere trying to avoid Alethea's accusing glance.

'So, this is what she was texting him while we were on our shopping spree? I should've known...Hazel, Hazel, Hazel what will you gain from this' Alethea thought before turning around to face Jacob.

To say Jacob wasn't nervous would be an understatement, the guy is freaking out of his mind. Alethea is now looking up at him with a small smile, Jacob being straightforward just went straight for the part where he couldn't make it to their first dinner.

"I am sorry I didn't mean to bail on you that night, I just got so lost into my work that I didn't realize the time and—"

"Its okay, Jacob we're both different from one another. Its fine, you don't need to set up a date to apologize to me about the frisbee incident. All is forgiven. I mean, yes it was an accident and yes you have apologized for it and I know you did not mean to do it on purpose, it's a park…. anything can happen at the park." Alethea cut him off.

"As for the date," she continued. " It's quite alright. You didn't have to come anyways; I know how busy you are with your work and honestly, I am also not looking for any dates or guys or any relationship other than friendship at the moment. I'm too focused on the twins and their life, their future to even think about that part of my life so...…its all-good Jacob. Everything is fine between us" she finished before she extended her hand towards Jacob to shake.

"Friends?" she asked.

Jacob's POV:

FRIENDS?!!

Is she f**king kidding me? Does she expect me to be JUST friends with her?

Hell NO!!

My mind at the moment is blank. I wanted to start a fresh with her and have another shot at this. Its no denying that I want her.

I WANT HER!!

I really do but how can I even begin the first step with her already shutting me out like this and putting me on the friend zone.

Friend zone my ass. I am gonna make this right. I am gonna be patient, understanding and be the man of her dreams, of her life…. of everything that she has not had the time to dream about and even thought about.

Despite all these thoughts running through my head, I still can't seem to utter a single word to her and her left hanging handshake.

I smiled warmly at her but with hidden intentions.

I shook her hands and pulled her closer to me. As soon as she's close, I bend my shoulders a little bit so my mouth is the same level as her ears and whispered "I may not be the man that you have never ever given the thought of but I am going to be the only man that you will think of, dream of and imagine a life with because as we begin our friendship today, I am hoping that this is the start of something much more valuable than friendship Alethea. And trust me when I say this, if I am set on something, I will do my very best to get it and I always do".

I stood back up to my full height and looked at her with much seriousness that I could muster to let her know that I am telling her the truth. I placed some distance between us because damn it, those innocent brown eyes are like a pool of wonders drawing me in.

As soon as I stepped off from her my phone rang, I immediately excused myself from Alethea considering that I need a distraction from her cute, beautiful face. I saw the contact only to have my smile taken off of my face. I quickly answered the call with a flat tone.

"Father?"

"I heard you are in pursue of a woman…."
