My name is Sean Tay. I am a typical American, who lives his life as peacefully as a person can in America, so not so great.
My parents left me for the other world at the age of 14 in a car accident, and since then I had to fend for myself.
It was not easy, but I did what I could.
I was an average student, with average grades, and below-average looks.
I always felt envious whenever I saw children with their parents, it is true what they say, you only cherish what you lose.
However, I had a coping mechanism a lot of people in the world use. Manga, anime and webnovels, mainly in the shounen and fantasy genre.
I always loved the idea of living in a beautiful world with magical creatures.
However when I reached the age of 16, I wanted more. I wanted to write my own story, and so I did.
It was another way for me to vent my frustrations, to not give up on life.
And what do you know, my first book of my major series, 'Flethcer Mickelson,' was a massive hit.
I was fortune enough to not get scammed by my publishing company, and made a bit of money. It was then when I found my way of living, my books.
The general plot of the story was simple, the main character, fletcher, was an orphan noble, who wanted to find his parents. Typical, right?
I will not lie, the book had plenty of cliches in it. Like how the main character had great talent, was hated for no reason, and brought into the battles for no reason.
Why would the book succeeded? Well, while all my readers had a lot of opinions, such as the honesty of the main character, his emotional growth, the supporting cast, I always believed that it was because of the world building of the book.
The plot of the first few books is on Earth, where mana was introduced to the world in the year of 2500. The introduction of mana to the world was known as the apocalypse.
It was known as the apocalypse because the new energy was too strong for the technology on Earth, and everything in the world had started to breakdown, and all life-forms in the world had started to mutate, all but humans that is.
For the next 100 years, humans were pushed to the bottom of the food chain, and all the mutated animals, also known as mana beasts dominated the planet.
This happened till the introduction of the Akshahi records.
The Akshahi records, were an unknown entity which helped people to get stronger as apocalypses happen around all of existence.
After that humans gained power by fighting, and within another 100 years gained back control of the planet.
However, governments were not able to control some of the stronger humans, and soon kingdoms had started to form around the planet.
Humanity thought that they had regained control of power, however that was obviously not the case, can't have such a boring plot after all.
There were other worldly existences which started to attack Earth, via dimensional gates.
Fortunately for humans, the Akshahi records were fair, thus helped humanity a little to fight the other worldly invaders by placing restrictions on the gates.
Eventually humanity gained power to fight back, and created a central government in other planets, and went to other species planets to fight them.
This was the place the main character lived in. He then gained power, to fight against these creatures, and eventually live a happy life.
Right now, I was smoking a cigarette on the roof of my house.
"Sigh, I am 40 years old now, and have completed the series. I should feel happy, but why do I feel so... lost?" I mumbled out loud.
Just as I was about to go back into my house, my vision darkened, and I woke up in an unfamiliar place.
