Chapter five
Oath of repayment.
Upon waking up, Jun Mey noticed she was leaning against a large tree trunk with a rough surface resembling uneven ground.
With a painful grunt, Jun Mey slowly and carefully opened her eyes. She focused those eyes and deliberately surveyed her surroundings with a calm gaze.
"He's not here," Jun Mey said, pausing her movement. She steadied her gaze on her far north, like deliberately trying to see something impossible.
"I don't feel pain on my right shoulder blade again," Jun Mey pondered, arching her neck to glimpse her shoulder blade. The Kâppa succeeded in ripping that side. However, her overall dress didn't become useless.
'What should I do with this woman now?' Chi An pondered as he walked out from the north with a duffel bag. The duffel bag stood tall and proud, boasting a perfect cylindrical shape that added to its durability. The black color enhanced the bag's understated and sophisticated appearance, making it a popular choice.
Chi An had somehow found himself in a hesitant situation. His initial thought to wipe Jun Mey's memory proved useless. However, it had unveiled that Jun Mey was not simple. Although Chi An was indifferent to such an identity, he could lead a more peaceful life by avoiding such trouble. So Chi An angled to one corner and began packing his properties into the swallowing hole of the cylindrically shaped duffle bag.
Jun Mey bowed her head slowly, thanking Chi An for her help. However, Chi An breezed past her as if she didn't exist.
Regardless of Chi An's attitude, Jun Mey waited patiently. She steadied her gaze on Chi An's every move, her thought unknown.
"Did you see anything?" Jun Mey suddenly heard Chi An's voice.
"What did..."
Chi An suddenly interrupted Jun Mey's unhurried voice, "Did you see anything?" Chi An's fast-paced manner of speaking contrasted with Jun Mey's conversational speaking pattern. Moreover, Chi An remained focused, avoiding eye contact with Jun Mey.
'He's speaking too fast, and I can't keep up,' Jun Mey mused in her heart, sitting erect. She relaxed because she had seen there was little she could do if it came down to defending herself.
"Yes, I did," Jun Mey answered, her face neutral. She placed her hands relaxedly on her lap. Although Jun Mey perceived Chi An as cold and ruthless, the girl still believed that he was not an unreasonable animal. However, even if he was, she could not fight against him, at least not now. Therefore, there was no reason for her to fidget.
Chi An secretly clenched his fist on hearing Jun Mey's answer. He thought the girl was too relaxed for someone who saw a gruesome scene. So he turned to her with a blank expression.
Chi An paused and tilted his chin upward, asserting, "I won't hesitate to crush you if I catch a glimpse of gossip about today's event. I don't care what you think or what you saw." He suddenly raised his right hand before him and clenched, creating a zipping noise like crushing an insect. Witnessing Chi An's intimidating gaze and posture, Jun Mey's heart trembled. She admonished herself to calm down, reminding herself she had already survived.
"Oh, I swear I'll keep the secret," Jun Mey steadied her breathing amidst the threat. "Nobody is going to hear it."
"You must vow with your inner devil that you did not see what occurred," Chi An said, snorting intimidatingly. "Otherwise, do you think I'll believe you?"
Chi An had decided that if the girl couldn't keep her mouth shut, he would brutally end her life.
"Not still planning to swear?" Chi An inquired with a threatening voice and a blank face.
'Why's he so cold to me?' Jun Mey pondered that even though she perceived Chi An as cold, it wasn't to the extreme when she noticed him in the class.
"I will," Jun Mey said, calmly gazing at Chi An. "But I have an individual oath that has preserved me. The oath said I must repay other people's good deeds to survive."
Chi An frowned and said, "what do you mean?"
Jun Mey used her hands to support herself to relax better on the tree. She said in a calm tone, "it means I will also swear not to leave your side till I help solve your need."
Jun Mey thought it was not a problem to swear to her inner demon but saw the need to borrow Chi Añ's strength to subdue those animals hunting her. She maintained eye contact, watching Chi An reactions closely.
