Chapter 10 - 5.2

Chapter five

Chi An suddenly moved towards Jun Mey, puffing his chest aggressively. Furthermore, his face lacked emotion but resembled a menacing creature called death. Chi An stretched his arms and half-folded his fist, his claws visible. Additionally, he displayed baleful sanguine eyes. "What did I hear you say?" Chi An spoke in his usual rapid tone.

However, Jun Mey didn't budge even when he saw Chi An's threatening posture.

'It's not like I'm not afraid of death or his threats, but my foster parents had always told me not to struggle in vain before an overwhelming power,' Jun Mey told herself, steadying her heartbeats.

Seeing Jun Mey not reacting according to his prediction, Chi An lost interest. He thought there was no thrill in killing someone who had lost the nerve to struggle. Still, Chi An didn't want anything or anyone to disturb him. So Chi An asked his heart, 'is it fate that this girl ended up where I was training?'

"It is not like I need your help," Chi An said, relaxing his movements for only a moment, but his face remained blank. "How can you help me?"

Grasping the opportunity, Jun Mey spoke, raising her index finger, "I will assist you in passing your classes."

Chi An said nothing, simply waiting for her to continue.

"Don't you want to join our rugby club?"

Chi An immediately interrupted Jun Mey, "so what if I want to join."

"The vast majority of rugby players fall behind on their courses," Jun Mey spoke in a calm tone different from Chi An's rapid speech pattern. "Many of these guys exploit their illustrious history and fortune to avoid this issue. While few have tutors to help them at least pass."

Jun Mey explained that while the institute is lenient with rugby players, they also encounter issues like every other student. However, they go the extra mile to help themselves too.

Hearing Jun Mey's explanation, Chi An frowned, saying, 'what difference does it make?" After a pause, Chi An spoke emotionlessly, "I may not be very bright, but I can manage my classes." Looking at Jun Mey, who had a neutral expression, Chi An crossed his arm to his chest. He said, "at least, I did in my former school."

"I understand what you're thinking...."

Not interested in what Jun Mey intended to say, Chi An interrupted her, "you understand nothing."

"But the school wouldn't have a history of suspending the rugby club if it were that easy," Jun Mey spoke unhurriedly, steadying her gaze on Chi An.

"I'm not sure what you're planning, but don't try to be smart with me," Chi An spoke, his eyes flashing sanguine.

"I'd never do that," Jun Mey remained calm. "Since you have agreed, I shall swear."

Jun Mey then swore with her inner devil in Chi An's presence. Regardless, Chi An grudgingly agreed to cooperate, swearing an oath despite his belief that it was unnecessary.

Chi An went to pick up his duffle, planning to end his training session since there was no need to continue it.

"Are you a human?"

However, Jun Mey posed a question that rooted Chi An on the spot.

"Beat it, girl," Chi An said, turning to Jun Mey with a threatening gaze. "Our cooperation has nothing to do with this senseless inquiry." Not satisfied, Chi An snorted and said, "I'm warning you. You better refrain from asking too many questions."

Jun Mey placed her hands on her lap and stood from her position. "Why did you...," she said, slowly dusting her black trousers.

Seeing Jun Mey's reluctance to give up, Chi An interrupted, "I said no questions."

He wondered why the girl wasn't afraid of offending a behemoth like him. Thinking about it made him feel like the girl might challenge his cold heart. So he mused in his heart, 'interesting.' Chi An suddenly felt a glimpse of happiness. However, he didn't let it linger.

'It's tough communicating with him,' Jun Mey thought, gazing at the brightly lit moon. Chi An somehow interested her, making herself expectant of the future challenges with the cold, ruthless, and mysterious guy.

Although Jun Mey was confident that her future strategy would finally defrost the ice, she also expected failure and disappointment. So she smiled even when Chi An was chilly. However, Jun Mey controlled her smile, not exposing much. Regardless of her control and deliberate gestures, Chi An still caught it. Moreover, he was captivated by this smile. Nevertheless, Chi An never softened up: he maintained a blank face.
