Theo stood up from his seat and walked over to the curtain door leading to the stage. He opened a slit and peeked his head through. The previously empty ballroom was now a lot more similar to the one Theo remembered from his past.
Hundreds of people occupied the floor, and more were still coming through the open doors. Their statuses in society were obviously evident from the clothes they wore.
Theo recognized a lot of the faces, but he knew none of them. He had seen them before in previous social events, but because of the rank of the Preston family, other families forbode their children from interacting with Theo in fear of getting on Theo's bad side, therefore putting their entire house in danger.
Of course, Theo neither had the intention nor the authority to do that, but people took their precautions, nonetheless.
"What time is it?" Theo asked the butler as he pulled his head out from the curtains.
The butler reached into his breast pocket and pulled out his watch.
