Chapter 42 - Sulking Hunter

"Ahhh!!!", pulling the hair in frustration, the professor let her head thumped against the wooden surface of the door that was slammed on her face, sitting on the floor. This was a whole new experience for Scarlett. Never for once in her life, she had been shut out by anyone. People of the fifteenth century were offensively impolite and overly unmannered. In the time she came from if someone injured would show up at the door, instead of shutting the doors at their faces, they would be welcomed and being taken care of reasonably well. Here, she was threatened to be thrown before vampires let alone given a sheltered square to spend the night in.

"F*cking peanut brain!", all the tries to calm herself down would flee high in the air every time the realization of sitting on the cold floor, in the very cold night would hit her. The wound had become numb to the itching, and it wasn't really a matter of concern for the professor.

"Okay...relax. Breathe in, breathe...ugh! f*ck you!!!", it would be hard to believe that the girl was not pissed off for travelling to the age of werewolves and vampires, but being shut out by the alpha. Not forgetting that she was avoided by many of her age in the twenty-first century, none of them would treat her like this. First, they would show interest in her, obviously, those who didn't know who the girl was. Well, she wasn't mediocre when it came to the body. Her curves would have some drooling over at the counter, making their way out to the girl. However, after knowing that she was a scientist which was viewed as overly bored by those playboys, they would excuse themselves. Also, they didn't want to have a hook up with someone who had connections with the state.

"Interloper I am? The dumbest a*s of the time you are. F*ck off in the f*cking hell!", thus, it was simply impossible for the professor to digest the rude behaviour of the alpha.

The girl continued ranting until the eyelids became too heavy for her to be forced open. In an hour, she was sleeping soundly at the door of a werewolf who was wide awake on the other side. How could he sleep when the girl was rambling non-stop, not seeming to stop any time soon. Werewolves had distinct abilities compared to humans. Their hearing ability was incredibly stronger than the mortals. The alpha could hear each and every word the professor was sprouting out of her beautiful mouth. Nonetheless, many of them were incomprehensible to him.

Rather than dwelling his mind on what her words meant, the man was more thoughtful on how the hunter was different from the other hunter of her tribe. Though he didn't understand most of the part, she was definitely whining like a baby. Had he seen any hunter doing that? Certainly not. They had very much self-composed identities, reflecting stern and earnest personalities, unlike the girl who was childishly sulking. It could be a part of whatsoever her plan was. Thinking about all the possible ifs, the man also drifted to sleep.

After some hours the sun rose to the horizon. The rays broke through the gaps between the knotted branches of the large trees, the light brightening the once dark jungle. The cloak of darkness worn by the jungle was snatched away by the burning largest star, replaced by a luminous, brilliant cover. The alpha woke up when the room lit up, the sun rays passing through the transparent glass installed on the front wall, playing the role of a window. Seeing the sun rising on the horizon, the alpha figured it was around seven in the morning.

Getting himself up, he walked out to the hallway and continued his way to the far door at the end of it. Before he would reach his hand to open it, his mind flashed a reflection, reminding him who would be visiting anytime. The visit wasn't the issue, but the girl who could be still outside his cabin. Turning swiftly, he motioned towards the front door and pulled the door open only to have a body knocking down in his feet. So, the girl slept at his door.

"Ahh~~", the girl grunted at the abrupt collision. Tearing her eyes open, she saw the man staring down at her. What a beautiful start to the morning.

"This shit hurts", using her elbows, she inclined herself upward. Rubbing the back of her head, she and was thinking what hurt more? Landing on the buttocks or the head?

"You know you look pretty ugly from down t---", as soon as she stood on her feet, she was yanked inside from her arm. The door was slammed shut and she was having her back pressed to it just like last night, however, with a difference. This time she standing inside the cabin.

"So you are finally having your brain cells, that I highly doubt you have, functioning. Don't tell me they get charged by the sunlight. Does it mean you continue to remain a thickhead during nights?", Scarlett thought the werewolf was apologetic over his last night's behaviour towards her, and that was why he pulled her inside. She wouldn't forgive him this easily. Well, if he would treat her with a delicious breakfast, the professor might consider his apology.

"We can talk this over breakfast. If you want to ap--", the girl paused in her sentence when she realized the tight grip of the alpha on her arm. Snapping out of her thoughts in the reality, she also noticed the man was standing so close to her. His lips were pressed, eyes slightly narrowed as if he was trying to concentrate. His grey coloured eyes were a stunning match to his fairly long jet-black dishevelled hair. The jawline was so sharp that the professor assumed it to cut a...fruit. Fruit? Well, she couldn't be blamed for being hungry.

Scarlett didn't let her eyes travel down to his body. She couldn't. She needed some time to study his emotionless, cold face. His void of emotions face that she wanted to scan, the grey pair she was trying to interpret. She was not a scientist for no reason. She liked tough tasks. Last night, she couldn't have the closeup look of the alpha's features. Now she was staring at his face, she felt a need, a desire to decipher the look into his eyes.

"What are y---", as much as she liked to stay still in order to explore his impassive face, she wanted to look straight into the eyes that were looking at the door. However, not only the gaze of the alpha the professor earned by grabbing his attention, the proximity too. The alpha placed his free hand over the girl's mouth and leaned his face closer.
