Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

In a universe far, far away...

Two humanoid silhouettes were locked in a deadly dance as three weapons clashed. They fought in almost pitch black darkness and the only light sources were the dim glow that their weapons themselves emitted.

On one side, was a scythe which had blades made out of some kind of green energy while on the other side were two short blade made out of the same energy as the scythe's but one of them was blue instead of green. Both blades were coming out of two wrist-mounted devices.

The figure with the dual blades charged boldly and swiftly. His relentless assault were a mix of slashes and stabs that seemingly overwhelmed the opponent.

With a quick dodge and a parry the figure with the scythe staggered the attacking party and the fight concluded with a leg sweep and the scythe stopped a few inches away the opponents neck.

?: Your skills are improving nicely! Keep this up and you won't have a problem with the rite of passage. But do not forget that even if your opponent seems overwhelmed, it might be a ploy to make you let your guard down.

A woman's voice with a motherly tone echoed.

??: I understand!

The energetic voice of a young man answered back.

?: Now that we have finished sparring for the day, it's time to train with your father.

He felt a hand on his shoulder.

?: I'll see you back home.

She said and then instantly vanished.

The man sighed and was left alone in the dark room.

??: Damn it mom! This showboating is clearly intentional when you know I can't do that yet!

He muttered to himself and tried to do the same thing his mother did. He focused, becoming one with the shadows and tried to blink towards the exit when he suddenly grew dizzy and lost consciousness.

In another universe far, far away...

A man with green skin, blue cape and a red 'X' on his chest was relaxing and enjoying a cup of coffee while gazing at the Earth from a space station.

Without warning, he felt a powerful psychic force appearing on the surface of the blue planet. A momentary splitting headache made him drop his favorite mug and he put his hand on the window to steady himself.

After he got his bearings back, he quickly phased through the walls and reached the central computer. He opened a communication line and a small 'S' appeared at the corner of the screen.

J'onn J'onzz: Superman! I detected a massive psionic signature somewhere in Metropolis! Please investigate.

Anxiety was evident in his voice and a short reply came quickly.

Superman: On it J'onn!

A few minutes ago.

On a small alleyway of a large city, a big dog had chased a cat and cornered it to a dead end. It was about to pounce, when between it and the cat something dark was taking form, scaring the dog away.

The shadows actually moved by themselves and began merging. Black mist converged and dispersed with a burst of lightning to reveal a figure.

[1st person]

?: Where am I?

Fear begun welling inside me as I looked at my surroundings.

?: Who...am I?

I quickly stood up and the vaguely familiar necklace around my neck caught my attention.

It was a small crystal shard with a golden ring in the middle. The upper half of the shard was light blue and the other green.

As I held it in my hand, images flashed in my mind and a headache made me gasp.

As the headache receded, my mind cleared up a little bit. I remembered my name. But that only made it worse.

Voranis: My hands! By the Xel'Naga it's...not possible!

I noticed a puddle of water close to me and went to see my reflection.

Voranis: Terran? I became a Terran?!

I looked like a human with long dark hair and dichromatic eyes. One was blue and the other green.

Voranis: How could this have happened?

I begun panicking until I remembered something.

(?: Remember Voranis, no matter the situation, you must always stay calm. It will not only instill confidence to those around you, but it will allow you to see things clearly and make rational choices.

Voranis: Yes father!)

Voranis: Right! Stay calm and think...Ugh...it feels weird to have a mouth...

I left the alleyway to take a look around. It seemed that Terrans have control of this planet. Normal citizens walking around and there were some vehicles that used ancient technology.

"During the late emperor Valerian's reign, the Terrans invented something called 'levitation cars', but these here seem more...primitive."

One problem I had to deal with my walk was getting used to my height and legs. I was around 2.7 meters by human units and now I'm a lot shorter.

Still, after half an hour I got the hang of it and even managed to run a bit in a straight line. I found myself inside a park and decided to stay here for a bit since we its peaceful atmosphere helped me think.

"Before I start investigating what happened, I must first figure out where I am, if I can contact Aiur and finally, find shelter."

My body unconsciously took a big breath and sighed which I found weird since my race doesn't breath normally like Terrans do. Still, I felt a tiny release of stress which helped a bit.

"Now that I think about it, I will also need substance. Terrans have it rough."

Voranis: Maybe I should seek aid from some officials...

Then, I heard a loud noise and noticed that something with gold, blue and red colours was heading towards me, which was followed by pain and a female's voice.
