East Wing of the Ghost Emperor Castle, Study Hall
"Gui Wen, where have you been?" the ghost emperor asked after noticing his subordinate's arrival.
"Reporting to your majesty, Ye Shin and I went to explore the town," Gui Wen politely bowed his head and answered. He had managed to calm himself after the encounter of the scarlet lord.
The ghost emperor looked up and observed him. "You explored the town? What do you think of her?"
Gui Wen shifted his foot and felt uncomfortable. His movement did not escape to the ghost emperor's gaze.
"Did something happen in the town?" he asked before his subordinate could respond to his first query.
"Your majesty, I suspect that Ye Shin is using black magic. But her technique is different than what we are practicing in the entire ghost realm," Gui Wen stated. He contemplated whether he would also report the matter about the destruction of the scarlet lord's mansion.
The ghost emperor leaned forward and massaged the side of his head. Several lines appeared on his forehead.
In fact, he did not just suspect that the lady can also use black magic. He had seen it with his own eyes. Ye Shin executed the most forbidden black magic in front of him inside the Hallowed Lair.
"Tell me, when you caught her and the others to become my meal, did they spoke about the Hallowed Lair?" the ghost emperor ordered.
Hallowed Lair was a sacred place in the ghost realm that hides 9 cauldrons that can interrupt the flow of life and death. The existence of this place was concealed and only the ghost emperor know its location. But when Ye Shin and her companions were sent in his castle, the lady had directly asked him about the whereabouts of this place.
"Your majesty, that is right. The lady did ask me for the location of the Hallowed Lair. I failed to capture her for our enchantment does not affect them. The Scarlet Flares of Disaster was completely useless. So, I tricked them to come with me. But I did not expect that she is still alive," Gui Wen carefully answered. He really thought that the ghost emperor would absorb the lady's cultivation to enhance his power.
Gui Wen looked up and watched as the ghost emperor suddenly pulled the piece of clothing that covered his neck. His eyes dilated upon seeing the skin of the ghost emperor. No, not the skin but the color on the skin...
It revealed a tiny yet visible spiral wound on the skin where a small amount of blood was still gushing on it. It looked as if the surface of the neck was drilled by a spiky needle.
"Your majesty, your neck is bleeding!?" Gui Wen cannot hide his shock. His lips trembled no matter how he tried to keep his composure. Did someone try to assassinate the ghost emperor when they were gone?
"Don't be surprised. This wound is caused by Ye Shin. It's not healing. I just used an enchantment in this clothing to minimize the flow of my blood," the ghost emperor responded.
Suddenly, Gui Wen remembered when Ye Shin told him that she forced the majesty to spare her. This was what she meant! She actually attacked and wounded the ghost emperor!
At this point though, Gui Wen could no longer sense any disbelief. The lady was really capable!
"Her weapon is very strange. I thought I can cure the wound but according to the head physician, its flesh inside had been badly damaged. This enchantment is the only alternative. Hmmm, to be able to sustain this continuous bleeding, her weapon must be a spiritual blade," the ghost emperor added.
"It must be a different technique of black magic!? Your majesty, I have seen a glimpse of her weapon. It was tiny golden lights," Gui Wen implied.
The ghost emperor wrapped the enchantment back to his neck and remembered how Ye Shin utilized cauldrons of life and death in just less than an hour. It was the most complicated and forbidden black magic technique in their realm but the lady made it look so easy when she summoned the 10th cauldron and used it. He could only release a long sigh about it.
"Perhaps, she is a genius in her world. Earlier, I had no choice but to guide them inside the Hallowed Lair. Don't tell anyone about this... she performed a black magic that made someone rise from the ashes and be reborn. That was her goal. In exchange, she agreed to serve a hundred years. I did not expect that she would honor her words and stay," the ghost emperor continued to summarize his agreement with Ye Shin.
This must be the third companion that Ye Shin had mentioned. Since Gui Wen only saw two people with her, then, the one who had rise from the ashes was naturally the third companion.
"Your majesty, it's not safe to speak about the black magic of reborn. The heavens may hear us and send their guardians! I will ask the lady about the wound. There might be a way to heal it," Gui Wen offered. The more he wanted to uncover the mystery of Ye Shin, the more he felt conflicted.
"That's what I also intend to do. I searched her in the entire castle but the guards reported that the two of you have left. In that case, just ask it casually. Do not force her if she did not want to speak," the ghost emperor ordered.
"Your subordinate understands, your majesty," Gui Wen softly replied.
When Gui Wen left the East Wing, he directly flew towards the other building. It was the pavilion that was given to Ye Shin.
This building used to be the storage room of the armory in their castle. But, all the treasured weapons of the majesty had long been destroyed by his immortal opponent.
In the distance, Gui Wen saw Ye Shin sitting outside, and was staring at the moon. The land had entirely covered with darkness. He suddenly realized that he was intruding on her personal space.
'Forget it, it's for the majesty,' Gui Wen spoke and proceed to walk forward.
Ye Shin glanced in his direction and slightly nodded her head in acknowledgment.
"Ehem! Ye Shin, sorry to disturb you. I came to ask about the wound of the majesty in his neck," Gui Wen directly said. Even if the ghost emperor ordered him to ask casually, he did not know how to spoke to her like the wound was not a big deal.
"Wound?" Ye Shin paused. It took her few more seconds before she remembered what had happened earlier that day. She did send her blade to the ghost emperor when the man did not want to cooperate with her.
"Yes, it's still bleeding," Gui Wen stated anxiously. "The majesty needs a medicine to treat his wound."
'Was I too anxious earlier that my blade caused a cut on the skin of the ghost emperor?' Ye Shin thought. When she sent her blade to the man earlier, it was only for him to understand how crucial her concern was. She did not realize that it resulted in a wound.
Ye Shin blinked her eyes and stood from her seat. "Gui Wen, I have no medicine for the wound. Those who were struck by my blade were never cured."
This was exactly what she meant when she told this man that she don't fight and that she hoped not to use her weapon.
It was simply because the technique that she practiced was suitable for killing and not for fighting.
