Chereads / The Blood Luna / Chapter 15 - Training Day

Chapter 15 - Training Day

My dad startles me awake by stomping into my room: like a bull in a China shop. What's the point of having guards if they don't stop anyone at the door. My eyes are heavy and squinting I can see out of the Bay window and it's still dark. "30 more minutes dad" I groan out. "No can do, get your butt out of bed we start now" My dad says like he's preparing for war. "It's still dark outside" I barely manage to say. "Get up willingly or by force it's up to you" My father said with mischief in his voice. "Okay, okay, you win, can I get some privacy please!" I said back. My dad gave me a skeptical look but turned to walk out. Before exiting he makes sure to stare at me until I leave my burrito cocoon. "Dad! I already said I was up" I barked at him. "Dress warm, it's cold outside" he says just before leaving my room. "Not even the almighty Luna can use her teenage rebellion against her parents" I say amused. I somehow manage to swing my legs and move them to the floor. I stand up and snail my way over to my closet. The closest is filled with donated clothing items from the pack members. We lost my clothes in the shipwreck. I do have my beat up hoodie and sweats I came here in. We've been through so much already. I decide to wear my own clothes. After getting dressed, I make my way towards the vanity. My fiery hair is all over the place. "Is that a dry drool spot?" I say laughing at my appearance. I gently remove dry drool strands of hair, that are stuck to my face and give it a quick brush. Tossing it up in my signature hair style; messy bun. I make my way to the door. I open the door and can you believe it, Robot 1 and 2 are MIA. "My dad must have scared them off" I jokingly say. I make my way down the hallway. This mansion is so beautiful. I don't think I'll ever get used to it. Gold on white trim, with perfectly matching marble floors, glorious vintage wallpaper. Giant gold framed pictures hug the walls. My dad told me they are portraits of past Alphas and Lunas. I love taking this walk down history every day. It reminds me why I'm doing this; for them, all of them. Before I reach the end of the hallway I can smell that mom has been hard working in the kitchen. The aromas her meals give off; could bring world peace. "hurry up and grab a plate" my dad hollers. Give me a break, he stole mom's line. Will I ever be able to sneak up on them? I walk into the kitchen with pure dining entertainment. My mom is whisking eggs, while my dad sits at the counter stuffing his face. He looks like a squirrel scrambling to grab enough nuts for the winter. I love these two. I grab a plate and walk where the counter is packed full of food. "You really went out today mom!" I state like I've never eating a meal in my entire life. Waffles, Pancakes, Bacon, Sausage, Southern potatoes, Apples, a vast variety of berries, fresh squeezed orange juice. "How the hell am I suppose to choose" I think to myself. As if my mom can hear my thoughts, she says "Grab enough protein, it will keep give you a steady flow of energy. Grab some fruit, and some orange juice. Waffles and pancakes are just a breakfast bonus" my mother says winking at me. I giggle out loud, she has flour on her forehead and I gesture to wipe it. I do as she instructed but I add a waffle. Why a waffle you say? My mom makes them perfectly. Golden brown with the right amount of crisp, perfect square beds to horde too much butter and oceans of syurp; pure heaven on earth. As I start to eat my dad starts talking to me it's muffled of course because his cheeks horde food. "We're gonna do a little jogging and some basic self defense today". "Can you at least chew and swallow before you fling food pieces my way, you're so gross dad!" I chuckle back. He gives me a big grin and he squishes food through his teeth. Men, will they ever grow up. I give him a gagging gesture and that only encourages him more. My mother is watching everything unfold, but apparently she's done with him too and gives him a whack on the head. "Ouch! Emma I was only playing!" he pouts at her. "Grow up and finish your food and get to work. There's another storm due this afternoon" She glares at him. Luna or not, I'd never want to be on mom's bad side. Between me and you, she's scary as hell when she's mad. I cleared my plate, and washed it off and put in the dishwasher for mom. "Thank baby" she calls out. My dad followed suit gave mom a peck on the cheek and we both rushed out. "Get ready Dahlia, I'll go easy on you for your first training day, but it will get harder every day. We must get you ready!" my dad says with hints of worry. I know I'm anxiously waiting for my birthday too. Thanks for trying to put on a brave face for me dad. My dad walked me to a separate part of the mansion. I've never been to this part of the mansion. "This is the pack gym" my father replied. We walk up to two huge French style doors made of brass. My dad opens the doors and gestures me to walk in. A huge indoor gym appears, the roof is made of glass to let all the natural light in. It has everything you could imagine. A giant Olympic size pool, weights, punching bags, a court, a sparring ring, spa, and showers; this place is huge. Ravenwood mansion is amazing. While I'm standing in amazement my dad knocks me upside the head with gloves. "At least warn me!" I yelled. My dad is really ready to go, his gaze darkens "Let's go" he says.
