Chereads / Sakura* / Chapter 3 - A New Feeling

Chapter 3 - A New Feeling

Soren and I were now walking with the alpha and my mate. Both were still human while the rest remained wolves. It was an awkward silence, to say the least. As much as I wanted to know more about my mate, I did not want it to be in front of a bunch of strangers.

We talked to our brothers through the mind link, and they were less than pleased to hear about the situation I got us in. They were mad, but we managed to come to an agreement. If things went sideways in any way or we were not comfortable, we would leave right away.

"Go ahead," Soren said. I gave her a confused look not knowing what she was talking about. "Beta boy!" she shouted. I am going to assume she is talking about my mate.

My mate looked back at us from up ahead. "Seth. Call me Seth please." Seth...somehow it fits him. "Okay, Seth."

"Can Sakura make her way to the front of the line with you? I am getting the feeling you guys want to interact. I would say the back, but I don't trust you enough to take my eyes off you." I groaned and slightly blushed. Leave it to Soren to be so direct. "If I did do something, not that I would-" He quickly said not wanting to cause any misunderstandings. "-what would you do against me and my pack?"

'Your mate is adorable. Do you think he is testing my capabilities to protect you or if he is just trying to get information out of me? You'd think he'd be nicer to his mate's sister.'

'Maybe he's just being overconfident? I honestly do not know. I would like it if you did not scare him off before I have a chance to find out though. And you can't call him adorable.'

'Already possessive, are we? Ah, I have been thrown to the side so quickly. You hurt me you know? I was only doing you a favor.'

'I appreciate that, but I thought one of the reasons we're here is so you and our other siblings can let me figure things out on my own.'

'You're right I'm sorry. I was just trying to give you a little shove. I didn't think you'd want your interactions to be in a dungeon we'll soon be in.'

I rolled my eyes and sped up to the front where my mate was standing. "Sorry about that. I know she can be a lot." I apologize for Soren's behavior. "It's okay. I understand. I have three siblings, it's only natural for them to be like that." Three siblings?! That is a lot of people I am going to have to please. And oh god I have not even thought about meeting his parents.

Tight knots form in my stomach at the thought. My muscles started to tense up. My mate, I mean Seth, seemed to notice this as he was about to comfort me with his touch, but quickly thought otherwise. I wish he did not. "They will love you. Trust me." I nodded but still felt no comfort at the thought.

"Are you the youngest?" I did not know if I wanted to please someone older or younger. "I'm the middle child. I have two older brothers and a younger brother."

So, he had to deal with two older brothers too. "Ugh. There must've been a lot of embarrassment in high school." He started to chuckle, and my legs started to wobble to the point I almost tripped. His laugh was so...sexy. Gosh, I sound like a damn pervert. Is it perverted if he is, my mate?

'Lost your balance there I see.' I could practically see Soren's smirk through the mind link.

'Shut up!' I quickly responded. I knew she would know I was glaring at her in my head.

'It's okay there's nothing to be ashamed of. His laugh was pretty hot.'

'We're done here.' I block her from contacting me through the mind link any further. It did not help that there was now a raging blush on my cheeks.

"Your sister?" Seth asked. I looked down at my feet as we continued to walk through the forest. "Yeah."

"Do you also have brothers? You sounded as if you know how it feels to have them." He is too observant for my liking. If he knows something like that this quickly then it means I am going to have to be extra careful when it comes to hiding my identity.

I contemplated if I should tell him or not. If something happens, I do not want him to know I have extra allies. "I have one older brother, but he's been gone for a while now." I hated lying to him, but it was a precaution. Though I knew this would come back and bite me in the ass.

When I lifted my head from the ground and looked back at him, I could see the pity and sadness in his eyes. This of course did nothing to help the guilt that was coursing through my veins. "I'm sorry. I can't imagine what it's like to lose a sibling."

I scrunched up my face at my lie and I am quite sure he mistook it for a mournful look. "It's okay. I haven't seen him in so long that it barely phases me now." I waved my hand in the air. I desperately wanted to change the topic. I just met my mate, and I was already lying to him.

Why were they hunting this far out anyway? I was on the edge of their territory, and I am sure there are plenty of elks and deer farther in the territory. I should know, I am responsible for them. "So, um, how are your parents?" I mentally face-palmed myself although I kept a smile on my face.

"My parents? They are fine. My mom takes care of the house while my dad is one of the warriors." Great, so his dad can snap me like a twig once he learns I am playing his son like a fiddle. Not that I'd let him, but still. I simply nodded. "Yours?" he asked. I am starting to regret this whole learning about each other thing. I cannot tell him anything. Hell, even I do not know where or who my parents are!

"I never knew them." I shake my head. This was not a lie. I did not. Everything we know about ourselves is either knowledge we have known since we were born or something we found out on our own. At first, we thought Soren only could manipulate water until she could bend nature to her will.

After that, we all concluded there is more to our powers than we think. Seth looked like his heart had just broken into a million pieces. "Please don't feel bad. It is okay. Really. You can't miss something you never had, right?" I thought this would comfort him, but it did the exact opposite as his eyes filled with regret.

Why? I do not know. I got nervous not knowing what to do until we finally came into a clearing. We reached their pack house, and holy mother of the moon was it gigantic. I have seen a couple, but since their packs were not as big as Seth's, their pack houses were not either. My siblings and I never went deep enough into pack territory to see many either.

We may be magical, but since nobody knew, we still had to abide by your average werewolf rules. Many people were bustling around outside of the pack house. I could see some people training in the distance. The clearing was huge.

When we entered the clearing the alpha moved in front of us and Soren appeared at my side. Seth remained at my side, and I dropped the barrier in the mind link I had put up.

'So, we have one brother who is missing.' Soren said the moment I dropped the barrier.

I internally groaned. 'Could you not tease me?'

'This isn't me teasing you. I cannot let anything slip and I must keep up with the lies you tell otherwise they will get suspicious.'

There goes that guilt again. This might have been a bad idea. 'What I will tease you about is how depressing your conversation with him was. So, I'm your only family now.'

I groaned. 'Don't remind me.' Soren made an offended look although I knew she was not, I smirked regardless.

"Alpha," everyone said and bowed as we passed through the clearing. "You may dispatch but meet me in the conference room in three hours." He told the wolves who were with us the whole way. "You two" he looked back at us. "-are getting taken into the dungeon as agreed."

I have never been in a dungeon, but I cannot imagine it is any fun. "Yeah, yeah we know just lead the way." Soren rushed. I could tell she was getting impatient. The walk was long. "You need to learn how to hold your tongue or you're getting kicked out." The alpha said towards Soren.

This was not going to end well. "If you kick her out then I'm leaving too. She's the only family I have left, and she isn't going anywhere without me." Wow, I have already become accustomed to my lie. If he thought this was rude then he is going to be in for a surprise. I knew my mate would not like the idea of me leaving.

"If she goes then so do I," Seth said beside me. "I'm sorry what?" I accidentally said aloud. He just met me, and he is ready to leave his pack for me?! He has a whole family here! He obviously did not think it through. He did not have to though. He was more than confident that his alpha would not make him leave.

The alpha groaned. "Fine, but if they cause any mischief, it's on you." he glared at Seth. I wasted no time growling at him. Alpha or not I did not like anyone threatening my mate.

The alpha glared at me, and Seth growled, making his alpha growl at him again. Before things could continue a woman, who looked to be in her late twenties approached us yelling "Ranor!"

She made her way towards us and from the way, the alpha visibly relaxed I could tell the woman was his mate. He turned around to face her and once she was within reaching distance he grabbed her and stuck his head in the crook of her neck.

The woman had long black waves that reached her lower back. She had a mixture of light and dark green eyes. She was a little pale and was about my height. She was gorgeous. "Ranor? Are you okay?" She asked her mate who was now calm. When I really focused, I smelled that she reeked of witch. This was odd because I should not have had to focus so much just to tell what species she was.

My smell was far more enhanced than Ranor's. This had me thinking if he even knew his mate was a witch. Otherwise, why would she cover up her sent so much?

'She's definitely hiding the fact that she's a witch.'

Soren said via mind link. 'How are you so sure?' I ask

'She smells human at first sniff until you dig deep. She stiffened up when Ranor inhaled into her neck. Most likely afraid he'll catch her real scent at such proximity.'

'That makes sense, but it's not uncommon for wolves to inhale their mate's scent to calm down. Shouldn't she be more used to it?'

'That would be the case, but when you're hiding such a big secret about who you are you tend to stay cautious. We would know.'

'Why hide her identity though? I doubt her situation is anything like ours and it's not like witches are on bad terms with wolves.'

'There could be many reasons. Insecurity, being part of a disliked coven, being a wanted witch, or just downright ashamed. Even afraid of not being accepted, but that laces with insecurity.'

'I'm going to try and find out more.'

"What's a human doing with an alpha wolf?" I ask Seth in a low tone only we can hear. "I'm sorry, but I can't reveal anything about the pack to someone who isn't a part of it yet."

I should have seen that coming.

"It's okay I understand I was just being curious."

Seth gave me a polite smile. One of which I returned.

"I am now," Ranor replies to his mate, the luna. "I'm going to take these two to the dungeons for interrogation. I will meet you after." I never thought I would be able to hear someone say that in such a loving tone.

"Why are they going to the dungeons?" The luna asked. "They were on our territory without permission. One of them is Seth's mate so it's kind of a special case." He replied. The girl's eyes widened a bit in surprise before quickly turning into happiness and excitement. "Oh my god! Congratulations Seth! I'm so happy!"

She pulled out of her mate's grasp and ran towards Seth for a hug. I was moving to grasp her neck before she could touch my mate until I felt a hand around my torso. It was Soren. "Don't get us thrown into a dungeon for assault on top of trespassing." She whispered in my ear.

I grunted but held my tongue and stood still. She hugged him and he hugged back saying "Thank you." Ranor started to growl and pulled his mate back into his arms. Good because if that bitch stayed on Seth for even a second longer not even Soren would be able to stop me.

"Where are the dungeons?" I growled. She pointed in a direction, and I immediately stomped away to where she pointed. Soren easily caught up with me and chuckled. While she found this funny, I found it anything but.

'You don't change, do you? You always did this when you were mad even when you were younger.' I ignored her, intent on making my way to the dungeons, so I do not turn back and rip the bitch's throat out.
