Chapter 13 - Chapter thirteen

Alex

"Everything should be as it is now when I get back. Remember I don't like my things being touched. One thing out of place and you don't only lose your job but you'll be cooling your ass off in jail as well" I explained to Michael as clear as I could.

"Yes sir" he replied with his head bowed.

I followed behind the guards who carried the last set of our luggage while scrolling through recent texts in the private Chat group for I, Jude, and Quentin.

Elaine had convinced them to come along. Well, I wouldn't say convinced because I can already visualize how happy Quentin would be to go on this trip. He always saw the good side in everything.

I walked into the car and watched Elaine scurry towards the car with her little bag. I wondered what girls always carried in something so small.

But that aside, Elaine looked lovely. She wore baggy, ripped blue jeans and a black crop top, then put her hair in a messy bun. Naturally, I loved girls who wore more exposing clothes. It always helped me see the ones who were 'Alex worthy'. But with Elaine, I could already see how beautiful and curvy she looked even in her type of clothing.

She rounded the car and entered through the other door.

"Always late"

"I'm sorry, okay. And no, I wasn't trying to impress you if that's what you're thinking" she said and I chuckled.

"But you did"

**********

We arrived at the airport and in exactly five hours, the plane landed in Hawaii.

We stepped out and started walking towards the car arranged for us. And before I could say jack, paparazzi surrounded us with the blinding lights from their cameras.

My guards surrounded us and we started walking forward. I looked beside me and noticed Elaine was trailing behind.

I took her hand and we walked to the car. She breathed out and leaned on the chair. She looked calm. And...innocent.

And that's what I thought when we got married. At least, I wouldn't marry a troublesome girl. That was my consolation.

But I never knew she had a sharp mouth.

She turned slightly to me "Thanks for that"

I nodded and the car zoomed off.

Elaine

I looked out the window at the beautiful scenery of Maui. The people all looked friendly and cultural. I remembered going through a magazine about Maui. It was beautiful with sandy beaches, rivers, forests.

Funny enough, this was exactly where I had daydreamed of spending my honeymoon.

I turned to look at Alex. He rested his head on the chair and looked absolutely uninterested in the environment.

Does this man ever appreciate nature? This place was irresistible to admire. Even for someone as boring as Alex. Thank God I invited Megan.

Megan!! She should have arrived by now. I had my manager arrange a plane for her.

I sighed and rested my back on the chair.

Soon we got to the resort and just as the car drove into the gates, I caught a glimpse of a woman. A very familiar woman. She leaned on her car and was speaking to a man.

I knew I had seen her somewhere. If not spoken to her. I was lost trying to recall where I had seen her and didn't notice the car had stopped until Alex tapped me.

"Are you coming out?"

"Yeah"

We walked out and the guards carried our bags. And again, people started taking pictures of us. Oh, how I hated being in the public eye.

I didn't realize when I slipped my hand into Alex's and held right. I expected him to let go but was surprised when he gripped my hand.

And for the first time, I imagined how it'll feel to kiss him. At our wedding, when he was asked to kiss me, I could see the anger in his eyes as he leaned closer and merely brushed his lips on mine.

What if he one day asks for his rights as my husband? I wasn't ready yet. And oh, how awkward it'll be.

I pushed the thought away from my mind as we got to where we'll be staying.

The suite was beautiful and had everything we needed.

I walked up the stairs and into the big room. I smiled and walked out to the balcony. The view was amazing.

The bags were brought into the room and I started unpacking.

I heard noises and walked downstairs. Jude and Quentin sat on the couch with Alex and laughed at whatever they were talking about.

"Oh hi, Elaine" Quentin smiled noticing me.

"Hi" I smiled back and waved at Jude who smiled at me.

"How's your trip?" he asked.

"It was fine" I smiled.

"We'll leave you guys to settle in. Thanks for inviting us, Elaine. I really needed a vacation"

"If you really needed one, you could've gone somewhere else," Alex rolled his eyes at him.

"And stay away from you? No way" Quentin smiled dramatically.

I laughed. He was funny. If Alex was like that, I wouldn't have bothered inviting Megan.

They left and Alex and I were left alone in the room.

"What was funny?" Alex glared at me.

"Quentin of course"

"Nothing he said sounded funny to me"

"That's cause you have no sense of humor" I beamed at him.

"I'll prepare something," I said and walked into the kitchen, ignoring the cold stares he kept giving me.

The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. I admired the beauty of it and thought of something to make.

Finally settling with something, I put a call through to Megan before proceeding.

Thankfully, she had arrived and was on her way here. I sent her the address and dropped my phone on the wide island at the center of the kitchen.

In a while, I was done cooking and set everything on the table then both I and Alex sat down.

I served him and myself, and surprisingly he asked

"How did you know my favorite food"
