"How did you know my favorite food"
I paused and looked down at the mac cheese on the table.
I lifted my face to stare at him" I didn't know it was your favorite" I said and shook my head at him.
"Tell me, have you been researching me" he smirked.
I rolled my eyes" I have not. Let's eat in silence" I said and picked my fork.
He chuckled and started eating. We ate in silence and once in a while, I would glance up at him.
He kept a straight face as he ate. Before we got married, when I was still an unmarried girl, Megan and I used to read a lot of magazines and stories about celebrities.
Well, she used to and then fill me up with unwanted information. And like other young girls, she was a huge fan of Alex.
According to one of the stories she had told me during one of our one-sided interesting talks about celebs, Alex was no fun.
Anyone who met him always left this review
'He's too cold and unfriendly. He doesn't smile and he's always serious'
But from what I've seen since we got married, he wasn't that cold. I didn't say he wasn't, just not the way he was described.
He's cold, alright. But he smiles especially when he teases me. God knows how scared I was with the thought of getting married to the wrong man. Though Alex wasn't exactly the right man. But at least, he doesn't force me to do things like those CEO stories I've read.
I snapped back from my thinking world when Alex stood up and walked upstairs. I looked over at his plate and he had eaten more than half of his food.
I ate for a while then cleared the table. I walked up the stairs to our room intending to tell Alex I was going to see Megan. I opened the door to the room. He lay there quietly with his eyes closed.
Uh! He couldn't have slept that fast. I walked up to him where he lay on the bed and loomed over him. And there I stood, admiring his beauty. He looked peaceful as he slept.
I wave my hands over his face a few times but he didn't wake up. I didn't know if I should wake him. Should I just leave? I sighed and decided to go. Who knows, Mr. CEO might get mad if I disturb his sleep.
I walked out of the room shutting the door gently behind me. I walked out of the house the turned left and started walking straight forward.
A door opened on my right and there Megan stood with a wide smile on her face. "Elaine!!" she squeaked and hugged me. I laughed and followed as she was already pulling me into her room.
I walked behind her to a chair where we both sat down. She wore a colorful flowery gown and had her hair in a tight bun at the back of her head. She looked lovely.
That was the one difference between us. Megan was carefree and believed in living life to the fullest. While I was tactical about everything just like my dad.
"You look beautiful" I smiled at her. She chuckled and adjusted her dress.
"Thanks. This place is more beautiful than in those magazines". She stood up and walked to the table picking up her phone.
" No doubt. Your parents didn't have a problem right?" I asked as she came back and sat beside me.
"Well they did at first but calmed down when I mentioned you" she replied.
"So how's Alex?"
I rolled my eyes "I invited you here for me, remember"
"Oh shut up. Of course, I came here for you but don't forget Alex is still a celebrity and everyone including me still gets excited about him"
"Well, he's asleep right now" I shrugged and she frowned.
"That's boring. Isn't this supposed to be your honeymoon" she asked leaning back on the chair.
"Only those in love have honeymoons. Remember this marriage was forced and we're not in love"
"You'll soon be" she muttered.
"What?" I asked and she smiled. "Elaine, I've read lots of novels and your story is just similar. You'll soon fall in love" she sounded confident.
"That's not how it works"
"Of course not, you'll have to face your villain too," she said and I laughed and shook my head.
"This is reality, Megan" I pulled her up "Com'on let's take a walk"
She stood up we walked out. We came out of the resort and began walking the distance towards the pool.
"How's Joe?" I raised a question.
Megan smiled "He's still mad about your marriage and has found every bad word to describe Alex," she said and we both laughed.
"Now, I feel bad" I confessed and kicked a stone from my path.
"He'll get over it. He was just really into you"
I smiled and pushed strands of my hair away from my face. Megan's elder brother, Joe was a really good friend. Yeah, was. We hardly spoke again since he confessed to having feelings for me and I rejected him.
I sighed and shook my head looking around when my eyes fell on a woman. The same lady I had seen earlier. Why does she look so familiar?
"Ely, are you listening?" Megan tapped my arm.
"Huh" I turned to her. She glanced behind me then looked into my face. "Are you okay?" she asked looking worried.
"I'm fine, I just..." I turned back and she was already walking away. And immediately, I followed her, ignoring Megan calling me back.
"This had better be important" Megan muttered and followed behind me.
I rounded a corner where the lady had passed and stopped abruptly. It was a bar and she sat on a stool on the counter ordering a drink.
"Ouch" Megan groaned when she bumped into my back.
"What the hell is wrong with you!!" She frowned at me.
"Shhh! I'm sorry ok" I pleaded and turned to the lady and then it hit me.
Yes! It's her...
