"Alex"
I shoved hard at his shoulders trying to pull myself from under his weight. I turned my head sideways to stop his hair from falling in my face.
"Alex, get up," I said still pushing at his shoulders but he just lay still.
Pushing harder, I managed to turn him on his back and away from my body. He sighed and settled back to sleep right on the floor. I shook my head and stood up, staring down at him.
He smelled of alcohol. With outstretched hands, I bent and took hold of his left arm pulling it.
"Alex com'on. You're on on the bare floor" I said and groaned from his heavyweight.
He opened his eyes a little, muttering incoherent words.
With more of my strength, I pulled him to his feet with his hand over my shoulders.
Slowly, we started walking, his head bent low.
Now and then, he would miss his step and my small form would have to survive the stress of steadying him.
We climbed the stairs in what seemed like an hour and finally got to our room. I pushed the door open and we walked in.
Getting to the bed, I let go of his arm and he fell right on it.
I turned, walking back to lock the door and resisting the urge to smile at how inebriated he looked.
I walked back to him on the bed, bent, and started taking off his shoe.
I wouldn't smile because I was mad at him. He wasn't exactly wrong to scold me for leaving without his awareness. But he wasn't angry because he was scared for my safety. But because he was scared of his reputation.
I pulled out the second shoe and straightened to my full height. I walked round to the other side of the bed and got on it, pulling the duvet over our bodies.
I lay on my side facing his direction and soon after, I fell asleep.
The next morning...
I woke up earlier than usual. It was a sunny day and everywhere just glowed, exposing more of Maui's beauty.
Stirring the coffee, I made for Alex, I walked up the stairs. He was sure to have a headache once he wakes from the drink he had last night.
I would apologize. I have decided to admit guilt for making him worry about... me?
Whatever, I shook my head. My life doesn't have to be planned. I would still live on. Immediately this honeymoon is done and we get home, I'll sign into the company to continue my career. I'll go on with my studies and graduate. That has been my dream.
I got to our room and pushed the door open. Alex sat on the bed with his head low and his hands by his side on the bed. He lifted his head when I walked in and our eyes locked.
We started at each other for a while until I cleared my throat. He looked down and I walked further and sat beside him.
"Here," I said and stretched the coffee to him. He started at it then took it, taking a sip.
Everywhere was silent with only the sound of him sipping his coffee could be heard.
He dropped the cup on the table beside the bed.
"I'm sorry" we both said. I lifted a brow. He was sorry? Alex was sorry?
He turned to face me "I shouldn't have yelled at you. I was... " he sighed.
"I'm sorry too, I didn't mean to make you worry about your reputation," I said and he chuckled. I smiled.
" We're attending a show tomorrow night, be prepared," he said and I nodded.
"I'll be going out later, want to come?" he asked and I thought for a while.
"Where?"
"You'll see"
*******
I stood beside Alex on the beach and stared at the boat in front of us. So this was the outing?
I lifted my hand to my forehead to block the sun from reaching my eyes.
The cool breeze brushed over my skin, causing the light scarf I tied around my waist to move around.
I was putting on a sports bra and boy shorts with a scarf tied around my waist, while Alex wore a short and a button-up shirt which he left open.
"Com'on" he turned to me and said, gesturing his right hand forward. I followed behind him towards the boat.
Everyone at the beach stared at us, taking pictures.
We got to the speed boat and Alex climbed in. I climbed after him, taking his hand for support.
I sat comfortably, starting at the water. This wasn't a bad idea at all. At least, I can say I enjoyed our 'honeymoon'.
Alex started the engine and did whatever they do to make a boat move and it sped on the water.
I smiled as the wind blew my hair around. It was amazing.
Alex remained relaxed, and from the corner of his face, I could see a smile. Wow, I haven't seen him smile before. Well except when he teases me. And even those times, it's usually a smirk.
But now he seems genuinely happy. Like he remembered something.
"Seems you like the water a lot" I started a conversation.
He turned slightly to look at me and nodded.
"I used to go to the beach a lot when I was younger. I love the water" he said and I smiled. So he does like something.
"With your mom?" I asked not wanting the conversation to end.
His smile reduced. Uh oh. "No" he replied simply.
"With who then?" I asked.
"Someone special to me," he said.
Megan
I tied my robe tightly around my waist. I ran down the stairs towards the door.
"I'm coming" I shouted as the person behind the door knocked again.
I got to the door, unlocked it, and opened it.
Jude stood in front of me with Quentin beside him. I opened my mouth to say something but closed it back in shock.
What are they doing here? Did they miss Elaine's room?
"Hey" Quentin waved.
"Hi" I replied still standing by the door.
"Won't you invite us in?" Jude smiled.
"Oh, sorry. Come in" I said stepping aside and they walked in.
I locked the door and went to seat on the couch opposite the one they sat on.
"Drink?" I asked, nervously.
"Of course. We have something to talk about"
