I walked towards my car as Megan ran after me with one thought in mind-why mom had called so unexpectedly. I was sure she knew so well how I hated skipping classes.
I turned to face Megan as I finally got to my car. She heaved, probably tired of trying to keep up with me. I was just so worried and wanted to get home quick.
"Hey, Ely... you still haven't told me your reason for leaving so early. I mean we're barely past second period" she said. I sighed.
"I don't know either, mum called telling me to get home fast" I replied her.
"But you hate missing classes, couldn't you te.."
"I know, I know but I have to get going, bye" I rushed and gave her a hug before she could ask anything else.
"Okay, but don't forget to give me a call, okay"
"I won't". And with that I turned and entered the car.
A little introduction. My name is Elaine Myers. 19 years old and in highschool. I guess you've met my friend, Megan. She was also 19 years old and the only friend I've had since third grade.
I didn't really live a normal life. So I didn't have much friends- except her of course. I am the daughter of a well known billionaire business man. My father, Donaldson Myers is the Ceo of a very successful modelling company in LA. I always attended business conventions with my parents to learn more about managing a business.Â
Attending all those conventions really took my time and prevented me from having the normal live of a teenager. But all that changed when dad sealed a business deal with Megan's father. And we became friends afterwards. She seemed to have a life similar to mine-having everything I wanted in the blink of an eye but lonely most of the time. It all changed when I met Megan. Though we couldn't go out most of the time, each other's company was just enough.

I opened the door to my house and entered. Turning around, I met a rather awkward gathering. My father sat with my mom and two other men in suit. On seeing me, my mom stood up and motioned for me to come forward. I walked in until I got to them and after exchanging greetings we sat down and my dad cleared his throat.
" Elaine, how was school" my dad asked.
"Fine, until..." I drawled and my dad nodded understanding I wanted him to go straight to the point.
He exchanged looks with my mum and then turned back to me.
"Honey, you're getting married"
Everywhere was quiet for a while as everyone seemed to wait for my reaction. I turned to my mom who looked nervous and then back to my dad.
" what?"
"Ely, I know this whole thing is coming as a shock to you but we were waiting for the right time to tell you" my mom said.
"Yes, we recently signed a deal with the Callaghan's enterprise and to seal it, it requires you getting married to to their son, Alex Callaghan"my dad added.
I thought of everything for a while then slowly I stood up and started heading upstairs and just like my mom knew I wanted to speak to her privately, she stood up, excused herself and followed behind me.
Getting married!
But wait! Did I just hear Alex Callaghan!!!
