Melva was at a loss for words upon hearing the witch's request. It was literally impossible for her to do. How could she kill Vance without risking the lives of so many others? That would be a stupid move. The witch had no idea that it had been the only thing she had in mind before she had got here and slapped with the reality that she could not harm him, bound with the contract and all. She was trying to form an answer in her head without upsetting the witch further, but there was no way to sugarcoat it.
She politely shook her head, hoping the witch would not immediately kill her before she explained herself. Although the witch seemed to have no intention to kill her, Melva still needed to stay alert and be as careful as possible. She did not know whether she could believe anything this witch was saying. Witches were capable of a lot of things, including lying and putting on facades.
