Third-person POV
"Did you by chance go into the woods and get bitten by any animal?" Jade asked with an unbelievable expression on her face.
She quickly shook her head vigorously at the words that left her mouth as if she didn't believe those words were actually coming from her mouth.
Drake who was only listening to what Jade was saying gave her a 'what the fuck are you talking about' look as he couldn't understand what she was talking about.
Jade tried to think of all the books and movies she's seen and read about werewolves and how people become one and that seems like the only explanation to what was going on with the one person she cared about the most.
Jade knew werewolves are the only creatures said to have a connection with the moon, and although she thinks it's absurd that her brother might happen to be one, she feels it might actually be the answer to the questions they've been asking for three years since from the day after both of their parents died from a gruesome accident.
"But werewolves don't have the power to freeze things," she mumbles to herself, remembering how she found out about her brother's powers.
***
It was three years back a few weeks had passed after they loosed their parents and none of them had been the same since then.
Drake and Jade didn't speak to anyone for weeks they would only remain in each other embrace for hours since they could only find comfort in each other's arms.
Sometimes Jade would fall asleep on her brother's laps other times it was the other way round. On that faithful day, Drake was asleep with his head placed on his sister's lap although it was too small yet it was the only place he could easily fall asleep.
Jade kept fondling his hair gently when she felt his entire body become as cold as ice, she had been so scared while thinking her brother had just died on her laps, but the freezing puffs that left his nostrils were what made her know he wasn't dead.
But his body was stiff, so much so that it looked like it was frozen to a spot.
"Why are you suddenly so cold?" She said and tried to get up and go get a blanket for him after placing his head gently on the sofa, however, what she returned to find after getting the blankets left her completely speechless.

"What are you going on about to yourself?" Drake asked with a slightly raised eyebrow, pulling her off of her wandering thoughts.
"I think we need to look more into what gave you powers," Jade said concluding she needed to do more research to find out what her brother is exactly.
"Why are you suddenly concerned about what gave me powers?" Drake asked after throwing on a shirt and a pair of joggers while he watched his baby sister look as if she was trying to solve a crime like some expert detective.
Drake didn't think much about his anger issues and the fact that his powers go berserk whenever it was the full moon but hearing his little sister's question made him think a little more about it.
He doesn't remember being bitten or not and he doesn't think it had anything to with his powers either.
"We have to know how you got your powers if you're going to learn how to control them,"jade pointed out the obvious and continued to do a few analysis in her head.
"Do you experience and particular change when it's the full moon?" Jade asked remembering that werewolves actually shape shift from humans into their werewolf forms whenever it was the full moon, or at least that was what she knew from the countless movies she has watched and books she had read.
Jade could clearly remember ways that someone could become a werewolf according to all the fictional displays she had seen and one of them include getting bitten by a werewolf can turn a human into one or one that could be born werewolf and come from a long line of werewolves.
She knows the part about being born was totally out of the question because she wasn't a werewolf and her parents weren't one either so that meant her brother was also not a born werewolf.
So only one option was left which was he had to have been bitten by one, that was the only explanation, but even if he happened to be a werewolf, it still doesn't explain how he has the powers to freeze things unless if the movies she had watched didn't clearly depict what the true natures of werewolves were, Jade thought to herself.
Drake didn't answer Jade's question not because he thought she was crazy, but because he was trying to think back to the last time it was the full moon and the events that had occurred.
However, the only thing Drake could remember that always happened whenever it was almost the full moon was the same nightmare he keeps having, but he wasn't about to tell his little sister that.
Although he tells her everything, he still keeps a few vital details that he knew would only cause her to worry endlessly about him to himself, so he never told her about the nightmare and he wasn't about to.
Drake wasn't entirely sure what the nightmares he has was having meant so he didn't make much out of it.
"I don't think it's what you are expecting," Drake said but Jade didn't believe what he was saying.
"That's the only reasonable explanations for how you magically got powers out of the blue," Jade said remembering that her brother had never had any powers while they were kids until after her parent's accidents.
She wanted to point that out to him, but the issue of her parent's accident is a really touchy subject for her and her brother and they rarely ever speak about it, plus she knows how Drake blames himself for what happened to them because he had been the one driving the car and he was the only survivor from the crash.
"I think you might be a werewolf," Jade expressed although she wasn't entirely sure that's what her brother is.
Drake didn't want to start arguing about what he was like they always did so he just said nothing and instead repeated the questions he had asked her before she started to go on about this whole issue about what he was like she always did.
He could still remember one time she claimed he was given powers by some alien that saved him from the crash and he just shook his head when she said that.
The first time she found out about his powers she was both scared, happy and furious at the same time.
She was scared because she had never seen anyone wield such powers and she was happy because she knows he was going to protect her with his life if he had to, and she was furious because those powers should have saved their parents and not just magically appear after they were gone, but she learned to accept what happened after a few weeks of going through countless unexplainable emotions.
"Was she okay when you checked up on her?" Drake asked pulling Jade out of her countless imaginations of trying to figure out how her brother go powers.
"Yeah, she's good. That reminds me why did you make them sign such a contract Drake, they are human too and they should be given their freedom like every other human," she said a little too disappointed.
Drake stared at her with a straight face but said nothing because he didn't want to start arguing with her.
Although the sibling cared deeply about each other, they were the total opposite of each other. One cares a whole damn lot about humans and the other doesn't give a damn.
Jade didn't want to argue either so she started to walk out of the room but stopped slightly when her brother spoke.
"Don't tell me you're leaving already?" Drake asked a frown settling on his dashing face.
She just got back from travel where she stayed for three months without seeing him, and now she was about to leave again and that only made Drake feel slight anger building up from within him, not at her though, the anger was directed towards the one person she was going back to and he feels even angrier that he couldn't possibly do a damn thing about him.
"Before you say whatever his name is, is waiting for you, save it I don't want to hear it," Drake said just before Jade would open her mouth to say something and that made a small smile spread across her exquisite face.
"You know you're only always getting angry because you refused to date anyone right?" Jade said with a small smile before adding, "and no I'm not leaving yet besides I came back before Daniel, he's still back in Japan." She finished saying before leaving the room.
"I swear if it weren't for the fact that you're in love with that twig, I would have snapped his neck long ago," Drake said more to himself but it didn't escape Jade's ears but she didn't turn around to say anything as it wasn't the first time she was hearing those threats from her brother.
"I wonder when he'd ever learn to stop those threats of his." Jade thought as she left the room.
