Pearl POV,
My whole body was covered in a cold sweat, the light from the tv, being the only source of light in the living room.
The muffled voices of the people speaking on the tv screen were the only reason why my erratic heartbeat wasn't heard by the person next to me.
I tried to calm down my haggard breathe by taking large intakes and letting them out slowly before whispering a low "what the heck happened?"
Mackenzie was still asleep on the sofa, cramped up in the corner of the same sofa where I was, and she didn't seem to notice the fact that I was awake as she continued to sleep peacefully.
I couldn't understand what just happened. I know I woke up from a nightmare, but as much as it was a nightmare, it felt do real like I was actually experiencing the same thing in reality.
I couldn't quite explain what the nightmare was all about, but I know it is definitely something I never want to experience again.
This was the first time I was having a nightmare in ages ago, and I don't know if it was because of the way I was cramped up when I fell asleep, or if it had something else as the down cause.
I touched beside me trying to find my phone with my hands just so I would check what time it was after I was able to calm my erratic heart, and when I found it, I turned it on, and the bright light from the screen forced me to snap my eyes close for a moment before opening them back up to check what time it was.
The time on my phone's screen read 12 45 AM. How long was I asleep for in that position to have caused me to have a nightmare, I thought to myself before trying to wake Mackenzie up.
I had to shake her a few times before getting her to wake up. She rubbed her eyes for a moment before getting up and going into her room.
I also left the living room and went into the guest room and got into the bed but I couldn't fall asleep.
I kept tossing and turning in the bed for quite a while, thinking of any possible reason or explanation for why I was having a nightmare.
It was so frustrating to not be able to think of any given reason, but it was far more frustrating that I couldn't remember the details of the nightmare exactly.
The only thing I could remember when I woke up was the trembling and goosebumps all over my body from what I had just seen in the dream.
After a few hours of trying to think of the dream or an explanation as to why I was having such dreams, I gave up on trying and decided to lay still on the bed with the hopes that that would make me to fall asleep, but even that didn't work.
I don't know how long I had laid awake for, but I felt a slight shake of my shoulders by someone who was trying to wake me up from a sleep that felt so much like I had just closed my eyes only a minute ago.
"Wake up pearl, you're going to be late," the voice of the person waking me up said, and I had to open up my eyes slowly because I knew the sun would probably be peeking into the room already.
"Kenzie let me sleep," I whinnied but she pulled the covers off my body causing the sweet morning sleep to completely zap out of my eyes and at that moment I felt like yelling a few obscenities at her.
If I were to have things my way, I would literally change work hours from early mornings to the nights because those are the only times I have no problem with staying awake.
I lazily stretched my arms and then got up from the bed with my eyes still half-closed as I tried to make my way to the bathroom.
"Come down and have breakfast quickly before we leave, "I heard her say as I walked into the bathroom.
I found a new toothbrush and a toothpaste in the toilet and I knew she probably got those ready in case she was having anyone over so I picked them up and started to brush my teeth.

We both arrived at the office only a couple of minutes late but we didn't bother to run to the office because it was Friday and the weekend was just around the corner.
We stood in front of the elevator doors and waited for it to reach the first floor since it was coming back down, and I watched how Mackenzie fixed the buttons of her shirt from the corner of my eyes. However, my attention turned back to the elevator doors when it did open and we both walked in after a few other staff got off.
We were both quiet the whole elevator ride until we got into the office and we both greeted the people who were seated in their respective seats.
"Why are you guys coming together?" Sam asked with raised eyebrows and Mackenzie only waved him off and went to seat in her seat.
"We moved in together," I said with a mischievous smile.
However, that smile only lasted until a tall well built young man walked into our working space, disrupting the whole place.
I hadn't noticed the person until I turned to look at Sam, because he hadn't said anything after what I had said about us moving in together with Mackenzie, and I know that was not something Sam would normally do.
I had only looked up to see if he hadn't heard what I said, however what I found made me stood from my seat just like everyone else with shock written all over my face.
"Come with me," The middle aged man commanded and the turned and left.
