Chapter 4 - Of Marks and Stinky Poison?(2)

Evergreen Village, February 27 1448, Monday, 6:00 AM

Currently in the Sparrow Household, the twins could be seen wearing a traditional kimono, with Ansel in a black colored one, while Samael wore a white one with his signature grin present.

Ansel can be seen arranging a smaller kimono, after double checking if all the kimono parts are present, he proceeds upstairs towards Austin's room.

"Austin did you clean yourself up?"

"Yes brother!"

"Let me help you wear your kimono to make it quick, no buts"

"..." Austin gave an aggrieved face towards his brother and his present predicament 'I know that kimono looks badass, especially on samurais, but who the heck made them so complicated to wear!' before following after his brother 'I still can't get over the fact that I need someone's help in dressing up in kimono, when my mental age is 27 and add my years here living, I'm mentally 30 now....Wow I'm old'

Moments later after Ansel helped Austin dress, there is still 1 hour left before it's time for the ceremony. The twins decided to head out first in their backyard, where their Vileplumes are situated to see their Pokémon's eggs that will Austin choose from, with which one he likes later after the ceremony. This gave Austin an hour to process all the information he got from Samael the last two days ago.

It seems like my theory about this world being a parallel one compared to it's anime/manga counterpart is right. Imagine my surprise when Samael told me that there are Alolan, Galar, Hoenn and other Pokemons only seen in those regions in game, here in Johto. It seems like the same can be said in all regions, the only Pokemons restricted to a particular region is their Imperial starters. If a situation, in which you see an enemy using your region's imperial starter, you are tasked to eliminate them immediately and recover or eliminate the pokemon based on the given scenario. I don't get why they're so fixated on their Imperial starters, but Samael did mention that it has something to do with the legendary Pokémons, when I asked why, he said only Champions are allowed access to the deeper meaning of that information, with a serious expression on. Speaking of legendaries, the legendaries of this world, cannot be captured if they're a primal legends, which means their the parent of that legendary Pokemon line. But when it comes to their offspring, they can be captured but only willingly and with the approval of that pokemon line's primal legend. And to my surprise yet again, that the difference of legendaries and mythical Pokemon here is that mythical Pokemon don't have a primal counterpart and can be captured anytime, but of course it's not that easy. They only appear at humans they have the highest affinity with and is in the appropriate location, it seems like most of the mythical I know haven't shown themselves yet or they still didn't exist yet like Diancie, and Meloetta...is seen as a rare Pokemon that shows itself on festivals that have great music being played..what the heck did they just ignore a mythical Pokemon right in front of their noses? Them appearing doesn't mean you can capture them, in fact most of the time they ran away before you could even react or they will just outright judge you...does racism in pokemon exist too(・_・)? That being said our Patriarch has great luck and high affinity with his encounter with Celebi and being recognized be her and assisting him sometimes. Also one of the reasons why Elite Households sounds irreplaceable from Samael's description is because they are household that have formed a pact with a legendary Pokemon line, forming a pact means they recognize that family as the only one allowed to raise their young ones without needing to prove yourself anymore and get the approval of that legend's primal as your ancestor have already proven themselves, when that pokemon line approved of your capability, they either send an egg or a hatchling towards you the next morning. It seems like our Sparrow Household have a pact with the Eon Pokemons. Also yes, legendaries here can have an offspring.

Well let's shelve this knowledge about legends and myths for later, for now I'm really delighted by the fact that I get to have more variety of pokemon to think of, to build a team.

I have already decided to study and research about the Pokemons here because playing Pokemon and experiencing it in real life are two different things. It also seems like there are many knowledges from the game, that is neglected or lacking here, like mega evolutions, dinamax and gigantamax form and some pokemon evolutions that are still unknown which is quite a shame as those evolved forms are quite powerful too, some evolution stone are still undiscovered here like the moon stone, sun stone, ice stone, leaf stone and key stones, and also the king's rock value is only that of ornamental value...(-_-;)・・・ , one thing I do know is that they're so good at breeding high potential Pokemons, and does not lack in the military department, I concluded that the Pokemon Alliance of this world are muscle heads...just kidding. I only hope that I'm a support of balance type so that I can make adjustments with the knowledge I have and make them more appropriate for this world. I'm more inclined to be a balance type so that I can help my brothers in war and to at least be of help in lessening the casualties, even though that's unrealistic thinking right now. That reminds me Samael told me about the trade markets and how I can profit from there. It seems like those trade markets are like official black markets but they're run by the Pokemon Alliance as well, with the idea of trainers trading hub, Clans also buy here if whenever there's a lucky encounter from one of the trainers and got a powerful Pokemon in the wild or stumbled upon a rare item.

Stealing Pokemons from other trainers are considered a semi-death sentence here, as they won't just miraculously obey you, they will literally go wild and kill you if they're most especially attached to their trainers, so only idiots or those with power steal Pokemons, but it is a frowned upon action.

Anyways I plan on focusing on evolution knowledge in general, if I ever get support or balance mark...if it's a battle mark...oof no use thinking negatively now when I'm still contemplating which is better, a Vileplume or a Bellossom. I love Pokemons that can heal in general and have high hp because what else is more annoying than an enemy that keeps healing itself (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.). But Vileplume is the evolution I need if we're talking about my protection, well I can always catch or hatch another Oddish egg in the future, if I'm allowed to.

Austin's train of thoughts were broken by Samael's shout that they should head out now. Snapping out of his thoughts, he merrily skipped towards his brothers and calmed himself down once they're outside the house now, putting on his indifferent expression. As they made their way towards the center of their Village, Austin could see many parents/siblings accompanying the children of his age and also kids accompanied by the orphanage director. After confirming that all members are here an elder did an opening speech to start the ceremony.

7:30AM

After the ceremony, the Elite households are called to go to the training hall, while the other clansmen proceeds to go towards their respective homes.

It seems like the Patriarch is the one who always conduct this awakening ceremony, it is also a form of warning towards the other elders to keep their hands off towards something they can't have, as Elite Households are directly under his commands.

In the training hall, I saw the other Elite household that exists in the Evergreen Clan which is the Devlin Household, unlike our Sparrow Household that only have less than 10 members the Devlin have more or less 20 members. The Elite Households are not something you can find easily, especially Elite households that have a permanent pact like our Sparrow Household, Samael did mention that the Devlin currently have a pact with Ho-Oh due to the oldest son forming a temporary pact during a fortuitous encounter when he was a kid and in the midst of facing a life and death situation, the little Ho-Oh that he met commended his bravery in the face of death, 'things happen then baam! He got himself a pact' as Samael put it (٥↼_↼). The Devlin Household can also be seen as a relative to us, considering that some of their members are part of the Sparrow family, but them being a part of our household doesn't mean they will be given priority or have the chance to get the pact, in fact only those that have the bloodline of the Sparrow Household can have pacts from the Eon duo. They married here in our family like my aunt from the Devlin Household simply because of love, apparently she and her husband are childhood sweethearts, it amazes me that somehow even though it's only 3-5 years that we are allowed to have childhoods here even in the midst of war.

It seems like I'm the only kid from the Sparrow Household as almost all members of this household except for me are considered adults. While the Devlin Household have 4 childrens present. It seems like the majority of the Devlin Household have Dark green hair, while the Sparrow have their midnight blue hair bordering on black. As I was observing them, it seems like they too, are observing me.

The Patriarch known as Amarieon Evergreen has vibrant green hair, the signature hair of the main family, it is said that it became a vibrant green color because of Celebi. The Patriarch looks like he is in his prime 20s even though it is said that he is more than a hundred years old.

The Patriarch clapped his hand to gather our attention and smiled amiably at us, not giving attention to any of the 'Elders' present.

"It seems like this year's batch is in a plenty number of 5, for that I am happy and looking forward to your marks" said the patriarch with an unreadable smile. "I won't hold you guys for long, now shall we start the awakening ceremony?" with that said us five children walked towards the center of the training hall as instructed by our relatives, the patriarch then proceeds to extended his hands and with a burst of grass elemental powers, Celebi appeared with a cry "lebiii!!~" Before I can process that Celebi is right in front of me, Celebi proceeds toward us and circled around us. After a few seconds a magic circle appeared underneath us.

I could feel something forming and etching itself in my back, it is pretty itchy, and I'm suddenly hit with a feeling of dizziness and exhaustion that sent me to my knees on the ground, in the corner of my eye I also see the others experiencing the same thing as me but two of them lost consciousness and the other two are gritting their teeth, looking at them I'm thankful that mine is not painful.

A few minutes later, Celebi left and the magic circle disappeared and only an outline that acts like a barrier of sorts remain. After catching my breath I then proceeds to stand up on shaky legs. As I took in my surroundings the other kids are still on the ground, unconscious or still writhing in pain. I look in the direction of my brothers to see Samael grinning broadly with a ' I'm proud' expression while Ansel looks at me worriedly, before I could do anything the Patriarch spoke.

"It seems like the Sparrow Household is not lacking in talented individuals, child try stepping out of that isolation barrier."

I just decided to get on with it and followed the patriarch's instructions. As I stepped out of the barrier, I felt an itch in my throat and started a coughing fit. Before I know it Ansel is supporting me while Samael is patting my back while saying it's normal, I look towards my hand to see black blood, now I know what he meant by normal. But really this blood looks and smells disgusting. Ansel then proceeds to wipe my hands and mouth while Samael proceeds to guide me in front of the patriarch. I can feel fierce gazes directed at me 'can't a child have his peace?!'

"It seems like the others will take a while to come around, loosen your kimono around the back and face your back towards me"

Okay that just didn't sound right, but let's get this over with (;;;・_・)

With that, the patriarch then extended his hands toward my back, this time I felt a relaxing energy proceeding to etch itself on my back. I could somehow picture the marks in my mind and wow doesn't that just looks great. The marks of the elements are etch in a big, elegant circular marking in gold, They then proceeds to create the symbol for that specific mark with more fanfare and elegant strokes added on them, intertwining together. I could also see some vibrant colors while some deep ones too.

"It seems like you're a balance type, with major affinity to grass, physic, poison, water and... the dragon immunity mark" Said the patriarch's left hand man that accompanied him here with a surprised expression, but then reverts back to his original expressionless face. "With minor affinity towards ice, ground, rock, and ghost. Other than that the other affinity are only budding"

I could see the patriarch smiling warmly at me, that sent shivers down my spine, the twins could also be seen narrowing their eyes.

"Your brothers probably explained what a balance type is and what test you have to complete. Because of you having the only dragon immunity mark existing in this generation, I shall extend that two years into three years and a month focused solely on battle tactics, I will send someone to let you pick a pokemon egg in the nursery tomorrow. For now you should go home and meet your starter egg"

With that said Ansel hurriedly ushered me back home while Samael is narrowing his eyes slowly following back.

--

Back at home, Ansel signed and said, "I was hoping for you to get a full support mark, so that it'll become more safer. But lo and behold you got a balance mark and our famed dragon immunity mark too instead" said Ansel with resignation evident on his voice the same can also be seen on Samael's eyes. This mark is what I hoped for and is not regretting it so I can only clasped their hands and tightened my hold for reassurance.

A few minutes later, Samael then said with a happy grin breaking the silence "Our Vileplumes gave birth to four eggs, why don't we head out now and see them?" that seems to have snapped Ansel out and then said, "Go take a shower first you stink!"

I happily obliged and proceeded to clean myself and kick out of THAT kimono.

---

Walking towards the area of Vileplume I can't help but scrunch my nose at the smell the surrounding is giving off, but before I could lament a screen I haven't seen for a few days made itself known again....oh

"Congratulations host for awakening your marks, from this day onwards you are granted the ability to check out a Pokemon's all related status and information for the next 50 years, whether the host wish to learn how to do that or not without the systems help, will be entirely up to the host and your talent to learn. Note that the system won't be here forever. Mark affinity will also be a training bonus for you and your pokémons, so work hard to power them up and acquire more. Further information about the system will be available tomorrow at 8:00AM sharp, for now the status check and affinity bonuses are the only accessible ability"

After reading that Austin can't helped but be giddy but also noted to write all notable information he gets from the system later, as it said that it won't be with him forever.

Austin then raced towards his brothers with their respective Vileplumes, with eggs in an incubator.
