Chapter 10 - NINE

Jaime's P.O.V.

When I heard Violet got inside the basement, I rushed towards a closed door at the back of the club. My eyes changed into a golden color, closed them tight, and when my eyes opened while turning the doorknob have transported inside his office.

"Hello brother.", I must have had a panicked expression on my face because of the smirk he has when I entered. "You're fast when it comes to Violet but for work you sure take a lot of your sweet time."

"Shut up Paine.", his jaw clenched and glared at me.

"Don't call me that."

I ignored his glares and paid attention to our baby sister sleeping soundly on the couch. There was blood on her pajamas and dried blood staining her little hands. Carrying her in my arms than taking a seat on the couch, I noticed that her hair was sticky because of the blood it absorbed. I mustered up the courage to ask the question, too afraid of what he would tell me.

"What happened?" Paine sighed taking a seat on his chair, "I saw her stabbing my kill for the night. The journalist woman who was too curious about our lands."

His words brought me back to the afternoon a woman casually approached me from my office asking for an interview about our project, the nature conservation of multiple bought lands which popped up into my head.

I know that woman. Aaliya J, the foolish girl who followed the vehicles transporting goods from our relatives all over the world while they enter the private property.

She got lost after tailing one of our trucks from so far behind, got caught into one of the traps inside the forest to keep trespassers away. To hide our precious weakness from humans and monsters alike.

I looked at our precious baby sister sleeping deeply in my arms. "Did her eyes?", "Yes. Her eyes were a magnificent color. This cutie was giggling while she stabbed the fool all over her face. Oh yes she did! Such an adorable cutie that can't be stopped.", he whispered the last few words in a harsh and dark tone. "She's one of us you know. Our powerful blood cannot be stopped, even if she's just a halfling." He rambled on with an emphasis about our baby sister.

Memories of when we first met this bundle of joy came back to me. To us. The day she and Michael were introduced by our father.

Flashback - 2 millennia ago

Our father was considered one of the strongest and most dangerous leader of our kin. But he tends to fall in love rather too easily that all ended with a child born from different families and races.

This led to a battlefield for the position of being his true heir. My brothers and I have no intentions of partaking in the sick and twisted tradition of the world where the last one standing will become the "true" ruler.

It was nothing but a façade, just to clear up the rest of the children of the king and manipulate the only heir.

Our father was a product of this stupid practice. Manipulated to kill his own brothers and sisters to be the only one left and controlled by the Servir branch of the underworld.

Even though he was manipulated in court. Father made the smart decision of hiding all of us with our mothers until the time was right for us to join him. John was the first-born and as soon as he took his place as the king's heir. Massacred all the high members of the Servir circle. I remember it fondly as it was a wonderful massacre that went on for days.

Once they were all taken care of, father took all of us under his wing in the castle. After the Servir massacre, a new battle has begun. Our individual families have started a debate of who would be the king's partner.

Of course, that ended with another slaughter. My mother, a collateral, was poisoned by the king's first partner, John's mother. It was painful, yes. But I have no ill will towards my brother for he destroyed his own flesh and blood right in front of me as soon as he found out what she had done. "A mother for a mother," He spoke after placing his bloody hand on my shoulder in an attempt to comfort me.

This second slaughter was ended by John once again as he cut off his mother's head that he bloodily presented to the masses as a warning to whomever would plan to harm our family. So went on by history but that does not mean that it was the last of the slaughters. No. But it was history. It did not matter.

After all, years had already passed and we brothers have different factions that we all control. There were no more dispute as my brother and I have a deeper bond that no one can easily break.

Or so I had thought.

People have been running around the castle, organizing this and decorating that. Making the place elegant and spotless.

"What's the occasion?" I asked a butler who happens to be passing by carrying a lot of letters for guests. "My lord, a banquet is to be held for the birth of another prince."

The foolish king has done it yet again.

My head ached at the news. Thanking the butler, I headed off to our training grounds where my brothers are.

"Have you heard the news, my brothers?" I hollered at them from up the balcony where I can watch them go at it.

"A new baby brother? Yes." John answered dodging and countering all of Tristan's attacks. "We have a new baby brother?!", with the distraction, John gained the upper hand making Tristan's sword fly up into the air almost hitting the little brother's crutch.

"Hey!"

I laughed at my idiotic brother who now lays on the ground whilst John places both swords back on the rack. "They are preparing a banquet for the new baby boy.", excited I sat down on the steps by the stage looking for any reaction in my brother's face.

"How come all of us are boys.", Tristan whined making John's eyes roll. "I hope this one is normal. Unlike you who is stupid enough to try and challenge me to a duel." John smirked at the little brother's whines.

"I hope he's not as creepy as the triplets." I added that made my brothers nod in approval.

We heard a roaring sound from the distance alongside the noise of the now arriving guests. "We better prepare." John instructed, to which we both followed.

"Oh by the way." He looked at Tristan with a wide grin. "Since you lost, you'll be the it for calling the triplets up on the banquet."

"What?? I don't want to! They won't come up!", whining all the way to our rooms.

Back to the present day - Jauquis Estate

"She wasn't supposed to awaken this early. Violet is still young." looking up at Paine, he nodded with agreement.

"So what should we do? You know our older brother will do anything to keep her safe from all of this insanity.", his words made a point. John would definitely turn this into one of her dreams just like the previous episode. But if it will keep her safe.

Paine looked at me with disbelief as he sensed what I was thinking. "You can't! You're taking her away from me again! From us!" he screamed.

Fortunately, I have already covered up Violet's ears. "There is no other choice. I know you also want to be with her but you still have your... Past tendencies."

He looked at me with painful understanding before his eyes fell down to our asleep baby sister. I know how he felt. We had all been there once. Our longing for her company. How we vowed to keep her safe despite how much we longed for her. Sighing, I passed Violet in his arms, so he can have a little bit of time being with her.

"I know it is unfair. But we can't risk it. Violet is with us again and we are all scared of what will happen again if she gets tangled up into this world of ours."

Paine hugged her tight kissing her forehead and temple over and over again. "But I don't want to part with her again. Please, brother. Let me be a part of her life again, I beg of you.", I shook my head not meeting his eyes.

If I did, I would not be able to resist my little brother and go against John's wishes. "You know I'm not the one who makes the final decision."

Tearing up, he cried hard as he held Violet in his arms. It was painful seeing my crazy little brother cry like this again. Yes, he can be malicious and cold-hearted, a prideful insanely curious devil, but despite it all, he had a soft spot for our angel. I know that this is more than enough to break him again. We can never stand the feeling of being isolated and away from our angel. But he does not have a choice. We can never have a choice again after all the mistakes we had made in the past.

I sat back down on the couch, giving him ample time before I go upstairs. The headache I had before coming here can never compare to the migraine this current situation is giving me.

How the hell am I going to explain all of this to John?

Telling that man that our baby sister has now awakened.
