Chapter 4 - The Battle begins: Harnsey vs. Shawn's gang

Members of Shawn's gang searched the entire twon and left no stone unturned. But they haven't found anyone who hasn't contributed money. Even the townsfolk didn't know where Perros was hiding.

Perros knew when Shawn turned to his gang, things would go bad. That's why he was trying to sneak out of the barrel, he had to time it right or he would be spotted and the whole town would be in danger. When his gang members ran into town, he was quick to think. He tried his best to get out of the barrel unnoticed. As he got out of the barrel, he quickly ran into the back door of the saloon.

Perros knew they would eventually search the saloon too. He had to figure out a way to stay hidden. His first thought was that he could hide on the second floor, since he wouldn't be seen from the outside.

When Perros reached the roof, he immediately looked down. It was at the moment when Willie gave Shawn the monthly tribute.

"That damn Shawn." Perros mumbled quietly.

"Boss, we found what looks like kids' clothes in the farthest house." Said one of his gang members.

"Hey, Darren, get everyone over here. We'll count them." Shawn said, smiling sarcastically.

"Do we really have to do that?" Darren asked uncertainly.

Shawn looked him dead in the eyes. A chill ran down Darren's spine.

"I... I'll get going." Added Darren as he made his way with others to get counted.

Everyone gathered in front on the saloon. The women and children looked terrified.

"10 women, 12 men and 7 children." Shawn scratched his head.

"So what kind of brat lives in that damn house?" He added angrily.

"I'm not a brat. I have a name!" Perros shouted in annoyance.

"Don't tell me that's..." Everyone thought.

"There you are! You..." Shawn said while gritting his teeth.

"Who?" Perros looked around in confusion.

Everyone thought Perros was joking, but he clearly wasn't.

"Kid, do you have money for your monthly tribute?" Asked Shawn.

"All I can give you is some food, but I'd rather not." Perros said thoughtfully.

Shawn's eye began to tick and his patience seemed to be wearing thin.

"Do you think I'm someone who's in need of food?" Said Shawn scornfully.

"I dont't know, are you?" Perros asked curiously.

"OF COURSE NOT!" Shawn yelled.

Some members of his gang started gigling. He turned to them and looked like he was going to kill them.

"Alright, that's it. Either pay me or die by my hand, you pathetic fools!" Shawn said.

You could see a vein pop up on his forehead. His cup of patience seems to have run over. Shawn drew his guns, and so did his gang members.

"Bring the rest of the money before I count to 10." Shawn was angry.

"10, 9, 8..." Shawn started counting.

"But we don't have any more." Darren said with panick in his voice.

"5, 4, 3, 2, 1. That's it, time's up" Shawn said.

The town fell silent, the wind blew slowly, and Shawn slowly triggered the gun with his finger.

Before he could fire, two of his men behind him were shot. No one knew where it came from.

All the members of Shawn's gang, including him, took cover.

"WHO DID THAT!" Shawn yelled.

Then he noticed gun barrel lurking out of the saloon window.

"YOU LITTLE SCUMBAG!" Shawn screamed

"YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS!" He added and shot the first one that came into his sight.

Darren fell on his backy, the shot went right through his chest. Women and kids started crying and running away.

"D... DARREN!" Perros yelled out the window.

"They shot Darren!" Willie shouted.

"Don't let the others escape." Shawn ordered.

Shawn's gang members targeted the fleeing citizens.

"N... No, don't shoot them." Darren said with the last of his strength.

"Safe your breath for surviving, Darren" Shawn snapped

The men of the town hid behind buildings and such. No one thought to pick Darren up and bring him to a safe place where he could be treated.

The silence of the city was suddenly broken by pistol shots. Bullets were flying from one side to the other. The town was filled with the smell of gunpowder.

The real shootout has just begun.
