The silence of the city was suddenly broken by pistol shots. Bullets were flying from one side to the other. The town was filled with the smell of gunpowder.
The real shootout has just begun.
Perros has just seen that Darren was shot.
"D... DARREN!" Perros yelled out the window.
He quickly grabbed his gun and went to another location where he could easily shoot at Shawn's gang.
He thought the best place would be the window on the left. When he got there, he could see even Shawn with ease, even though they took cover.
"You're mine." Perros mumbled and aimed for Shawn's head.
Just before the shot was fired, he heard the squeaking of the stairs. Someone was approaching. It appeared to be just one man, yet he put down his gun and went to hide in the closet. After a short time the sound of footsteps ceased and the door opened. It was a member of Shawn's gang.
"Damn, where is that brat?" He looked around.
"IM NOT A BRAT!" Perros yelled as he jumped from the closet.
The moment Perros jumped out, he smacked the gang member in the head. The gang member fell unconscious.
"What am I supposed to do with him?" Perros thought.
Perros looked in his pockets. He found some money and bullets. Then he put it in the closet where he had been hiding.
"He must have slipped in when they took cover." Perros thought.
"Now, let's get back to action." Perros said and looked at the window.
Outside, it looked like a battlefield. The only time the shooting stopped was when they had to reload.
Darren was still lying on the ground, bleeding. There was nothing they could do for him right now.
"Damn those bastards." Willie looked pissed.
"I'm almost out of ammo!" Herbert said in surprise.
On the other side, the situation looked similar.
"Boss, I'm almost out of ammo." Said one of his members.
"You don't say, we've been shooting for like an hour now." Shawn said sarcastically.
"Boss, what should we..." He couldn't even finish his sentence and got shot.
Shawn looked at his bloodied body and a chill ran down his spine.
The number of Shawn's gang members began to decrease. Shawn began to feel anxious.
Perros, meanwhile, returned to the window and aimed again at Shawn's head.
"I've got you now." Perros smiled.
But just as he was about to fire, something like a flash went through his head. He immediately turned his attention to Shawn's gang. Shawn was about to shoot him. Perros noticed and crouched under the window. He narrowly escaped death
"What was that?" He wondered.
"But whatever, I was really lucky now. I' d be dead otherwise." He breathed heavily.
The flash went through his head again.
He looked out the window and saw Shawn reloading his gun.
"NOW IT'S OVER!" Perros said, re-aiming his gun with all his might and firing.
When he fired, he saw that the world was moving a little slower. He could see everything clearly, but it was in a slowed down state.
When the bullet came close to hitting Shawn, everything returned to normal.
The bullet collided with Shawn. It went right through his head. Shawn was slowly falling to the ground, everyone was in shock. The gunfire stopped and the town was quiet once again. No one could believe their eyes, Shawn was dead.
"S... Shawn?" One of the members said in horror.
"No, It can't be" Other one said.
"HE... HE'S DEAD!" One of them screamed.
All the remaining members of Shawn's gang looked on townsfolk of Harnsey with horror. Those closest to him grabbed Shawn, put him on a horse, and fled. TThey got on their horses so fast that no one noticed. All that was left were a few bodies, empty guns and a huge cloud of dust.
"You won't see the last of us!" They shouted as they ran away, but no one ever saw them again.
"Does that mean... we won?" Willie questioned.
"WE WON!" Shouted the townspeople.
Everyone started to celebrate, but they forgot about one thing.
"DARREN!" Perros cried and ran out of the saloon.
"P...Perros." Darren said softly.
"Darren, I'm sorry." Perros knelt down beside him.
Everyone gathered around injured Darren.
"It's not your fault Perros, we just didn't have enough money." Darren smiled with a mouthful of blood.
"That's not true, if only I wasn't here..." Perros wiped his tears.
"Well, it doesn't matter now, they are already gone." Darren said and coughed up blood.
"And soon, I'll be gone too." He added.
"No, you won't. You still have a lot of beer to sale." Willie smiled while crying.
"Well, you bet I'd love to, but as you can see...., I'm done for." And coughed up even more blood.
The town became quiet once again. All that could be heard was the slow blowing of the wind and crying.
"Well, for my last words..... Willie, you're in charge of the saloon from now on. Herbert, you'll be replacing me as deputy sheriff. And for the last Perros..." Darren said quietly.
"Yes?" Perros said sadly with tears in his eyes.
"There's a key in the bar under the cash register, take it and see what it opens. Trust me you'll like it..." Smiled and slowly closed his eyes.
"DARREN!" Perros shouted as his tears fell on Darren's chest which was covered in blood.
Darren passed away. But he protected what he loved, his family and friends.
Once the situation calmed down Perros wiped his tears and said:
"This town will never again be in need of something, I'll make sure of it." He said while his eyes were still teary.
They all looked at Perros, not even knowing what to say because they were still traumatized.
Later that day, the townspeople held a funeral for Darren and other people who did not survive and protected the town with their own lives.
The day after the funeral, Perros went looking for the key.
