Faunus takes Amaris deeper into the forest. On the way to their destinatin, Faunus explains to Amaris the basics of magic.
"All living thing have mana inside them, the core of magic. Those who are able to use their mana in any way, are called mages. there are 5 types of mages."
"So, what are they?"
"Wizards, they are able to access thair mana through sheer knowledge of the arcane. They can cast whatever type of magic they studied, making them the mages with the most variety in what they can do. The 5 main types of magic for wizards are: evocation, conjuration, necromancy, enchantment and divination. It takes at least 3 decades to master magic this way."
"I've heard how hard it is to become a powerful wizard, but 30 years..."
Patrons, they are separated into priests and warocks. Priests get their powers from a god, and warlocks from a demon. Their powers depend on the deitie they pray to. It is the easiest way to get magic, but the magic won't work when it is used for something outside of the deity's ideology.
"People always tell me that patrons are seperated based on good and evil, but there are evil gods, right?"
"A lot of people see the world in black and white, but I can tell you right now, don't think this way. There are always exceptions, see things how they really are."
"I will."
"Druids, they have bonds with nature spirits, any spirit in their general vicinity can transform the druid's mana to be usable by anyone wielding it. However, the spirit's power isn't added to the mana, they multiply it. Druids can use each form of their mana to the limit of their power and their creativity, making the magic from each druid different from the last. The only way to become a druid is to gain the power to see spirits form a powerful spirit or druid."
"I can't wait to learn more about druidic magic." She simultaneously looked very excited and very nervous."
"Well, you won't have to wait long." He gives a calm smile.
"Ambitionists, passion for an art is all that an ambitionist needs to use mana. Mana naturally shapes itself based on it's user's passion's. When someone practices something for long enough, they can become an ambitionist without notice. The magic can't do anything that doesn't benefit the art. Warrior ambitionists get powers that help them in combat, musician ambitionists can manipulate the emotions of whoever hears their music, ect."
Amaris thought for a few seconds. "Are my father and Gale ambitionists?"
"Most likely, all the most powerful warrior are ambitionist, whether they knew it or not."
"But how does Gale have soul sensing powers?"
"He most likely either has another ambition other than fighting, or is also a sorcerer, which is the last type of mage."
"They get their powers at birth. Their mana is different from other people, the reason for this is that they are descendants of deities. The closer your blood is to the deity, the more likely you are to be a sorcerer. They have one power that comes naturaly to them, but they can extend their magic to other abilities."
Amaris knew she probably wouldn't learn any other type of magic, but she was still fascinated by everything Faunus had to say.
"Now about mana, you have a limited amount mana, which regenerates over time. The more you use mana, the stonger it gets. What at first costs a lot of magic, later might costs a third of that."
"Wait, I used magic for the first time against the deer. Why was my magic so powerful, shouldn't it be realy weak?"
"We are almost there, I can explain one more thing. Two druids who are bonded with the same spirit can share mana through the spirit. I simply shared some of my magic with you."
Amaris didn't know Faunus saved her, she wanted to thank him, but she couldn't talk for a moment after what she just saw.
Before them stood a giant tree. It had branches forming a staircase to different levels of the tree, each branch seemed to have unique rooms. The roof being a giant leaf, and the floor having a very flat surface for a tree branch. There were too many rooms to count, and each one looked a little different from the last.
"Amaris, welcome to your new home for as long as you're my student."
