His warm arms enveloped around my skin, making me take in his masculine musk of pine trees and snow. Hugging me so tight that I could barely breathe, Hunt kept hold of me like I was a rabbit ready to run at any time.
"Why... why did you leave?" he inquired, his tone of voice shifting into a more vulnerable shift. "I came back to the village and you weren't there. On top of that... I heard that you had mated with someone else..." Suddenly, I became outraged as I pushed him back, my bottom lip quivering.
"Y-You... you're the one who left me..." I said, my voice shaking. "I was all alone, and I was so scared without you. I thought that I'd starve." Not to mention Derek Hudson, but I could deal with him. I was strong enough to leave after all. Hunt looked at me, showing a shift of guilt across his beautiful brown eyes. His messy black locks stuck to his forehead and neck. I suddenly remembered how they tickled my neck when we did it that one time.
He touched my hands and the moment he did, his eyes went wide. He meticulously covered my little hands with his own, heating them up. "I didn't know what to do." he replied. "I thought that you'd hate me. So I rushed back to my village and asked Pippa." Pippa?
"Pippa is my village elder. She slapped me and told me to find you again, because you were my mate." His mate? He suddenly brought my shivering hands to his cheeks, warming them up instantly with his body heat alone. I remember how warm he was now...
"So," I asked. "You came back just because someone told you to?" His eyes immediately widened. "N-No! I just... There was a bond between us, and I didn't know what to do with it. The remote idea that you might hate me after that night... I couldn't bear it. So I ran. But when I smelled our babies, I-"
"B-Babies?" I blushed, my eyes widening. He nodded, hugging my stomach. In return, my body suddenly started to warm up from the inside. Hunt smiled. "Our pups are inside of you. Haven't you felt them?" P-Pups? Does he mean that I'm pregnant?
Why is he calling them pups? Such a weird way of calling a baby, but it's adorable. He smiled, hugging me tightly again. He was almost twice my height and I felt so small and fragile when I was put next to him. I went to thread my arms around him, hugging him back, when I suddenly felt something soft. It was moving, swaying back and forth.
"What is..." Then, it came to light and my eyes widened.
A tail???
A huge, black, bushy tail which was as soft and fluffy as feathers swayed back and forth, just like a hound's would. He... he has a... he has a tail...
"I'm going to faint." I fell backwards, but Hunt caught me just as I was about to fall to the ground. He picked me up in his large arms and started to carry me back towards the woods, smiling greatly.
"I've got my mate back, and our pups are nice and healthy. Once she gives birth to them in a month, I'll be able to try and get another litter. I'll be able to hear all of her moans once again."
And just like that, he whisked me away into the night, leaving no trace of my existence.
