"Hey, how are you?" Skyler asked.
It's been a month since we last met and started communicating with each other.
"I'm great. It's one of those really rare days that I can get off work early." I replied as I said goodbye to my colleagues that I passed by in the lobby.
"Really? That's great then. Are you free to have dinner with me?" He asked.
"Yeah, sure. I'm gonna go buy some groceries first. What's our theme tonight?" I asked as I left the office.
"I was thinking of taking you out for dinner." He said and I felt someone tap my shoulders from the back.
I turned around and saw him.
"Hey!!! What are you doing here?" I asked, shocked to see him.
"I came here to eat dinner with you." He said and laughed.
"Seriously?" I said.
"Yes. I still owe you a dinner date." He replied.
"You do?" I asked.
I don't remember him owing me a dinner date.
"Yes. So dinner?" He asked cutely and I nodded.
How can you say no to that cute smile and sparkly eyes? He brought me to some fancy restaurant and we had a nice meal before we returned to my place.
"It seems like you didn't enjoy dinner." He commented when we arrived at my living room.
"I did… but if I'm being honest… I'm uncomfortable eating in restaurants that require the usage of different spoons for different food." I replied and laughed awkwardly.
"Ah… I'm sorry about that. I thought you'd like it." He replied a little sad.
"The place and the food is great. I enjoyed it. Really." I consoled him.
"But?" He asked.
"I just felt like I don't belong in that kind of setting. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed it. It was a new experience." I replied.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it. I should have thought more of your preference." He said.
"It's okay. We've known each other for a month and most of the time we were on the phone talking to each other. Give yourself a break. I did enjoy it though next time we can go somewhere more… I don't know… affordable? To me atleast. Normal office lady here." I said.
"Yeah, let's do that." He replied.
"Since we're on this topic, let me just add one more thing. I actually don't like other people paying for my food. I can't eat well if I'm not the one paying for my food. So… how much do I need to pay you for this dinner?" I asked him and he stared at me with wide eyes.
"No." He replied firmly.
"No?" I asked sadly.
"This dinner is no. Next time, let's split the bill if that makes you feel better." He replied defeatedly and I smiled.
"Want some beer?" I asked as I went to my ref to get a can for myself.
"Yes, please." He replied.
So I took 2 cans of beer and some snacks. I was really uncomfortable with our meal a while ago, I didn't even remember how the food tasted.
"By the way, you still haven't answered my question, what brought you here? I thought you said you'll be busy for the next 3 months." I asked.
"I am busy but I've missed you and I wanted to see you." He answered sweetly.
"You must have a lot of girls who go crazy for you." I commented.
"I'm telling the truth!" He replied indignantly.
"Sure. How long will you stay here?" I asked.
"I'll go back tomorrow evening." He replied.
"That fast?" I was shocked.
"Yeah. I really came here to see you." He replied and I pretended I didn't hear him and turned on the television.
"Why are you not saying anything?" He asked when I didn't reply.
"Hmmm?" I asked innocently.
"Nevermind." He said defeatedly.
"Do you want to watch a movie? There's this movie I wanted to watch." I said to overcome this awkward moment.
I looked at him and he nodded. We both found a comfortable space on my sofa and I took out 2 more cans of beer.
We watched the movie in silence and I don't remember when I finally slept but I woke up hugging him on my sofa.
I heard knocking on my door so I went to get it before it also woke up Skyler.
"Girl!!! I miss you!!!" Ivy shouted as she hugged me.
"Shhh…" I stopped her shouting and she looked at me suspiciously.
She entered the house and saw Skyler, who just woke up from her shouting.
"Am I disturbing something? Should I leave?" She asked me when she saw him.
She seems more excited than feeling sorry for trespassing on this scene.
"It's okay." Skyler said groggily.
"Sorry for waking you up. I'm Ivy. You must be Skyler." Ivy introduced herself to a still half awake Skyler.
"Oh, you're the roommate. Nice to meet you." Skyler greeted.
"Ivy, why don't you join me in preparing breakfast and let him wash up first before you interrogate him." I said when I saw Ivy ready to pounce Skyler with questions.
"You should wash up first and prepare yourself mentally for this." I told him.
He smiled and excused himself.
"Oh my God, girl! He's hot!!! Who cares if he's 2 years younger than you. He could be 10 years younger than me and I still wouldn't care!" Ivy exclaimed.
"Well, that's you." I answered.
"Seriously? Don't you see how hot he is?" Ivy asked exaggeratedly.
"Can we not shout? I know he's hot." I replied annoyed with the shouting.
"Okay. I'm sorry but I think I understand why all those guys never had a chance. Your standard is too high." Ivy commented.
"What other guys? What standards?" I asked and rolled my eyes.
"Girl, if you actually paid attention, you would have realized that there are a lot of guys who are interested in you." Ivy said.
"I told her that too. She wouldn't believe me." Skyler commented also when he arrived.
"It's not that I don't believe you but there's no one who actually shows interest in me." I replied confidently.
Skyler and Ivy stared at each other as if they can't believe I just said that.
"I guess that's also part of your charm, right Skyler?" Ivy commented and Skyler nodded.
"So… what brought you here?" Ivy asked casually.
"Can you let him eat first before you start interrogating him?" I intervened.
"What? I'm just asking." Ivy said innocently.
"I came here to visit her and I owed her dinner." He answered.
"You don't but after last night I do." I said as I handed them some pancakes and coffee.
"Then consider us even now. You're giving me breakfast." He replied and smiled cutely.
I couldn't help but blush a little bit and I saw Ivy teasing me.
"By the way, what brought you here, Ivy?" I asked.
"I missed you?" She replied.
"Weren't you busy filming?" I asked.
"Yeah but something happened and the filming today was cancelled." She replied nonchalantly.
"There's nothing interesting about me. How about you, Skyler? I heard you're also filming. You must have been busy." Ivy said.
"Yeah, I'll be going back later. I'm just out here for some fresh air." He replied.
"I bet the air is fresher here than in country Y." Ivy teased him and I gave her an eye signal to stop it.
"It actually is, it has better company too." He replied.
"Your bandmates will feel sad about that." I commented.
"We see each other way too often than we wanted. Don't worry they won't feel sad about that." He said.
"Do you guys have any plans for today?" Ivy asked.
"Nothing really. Why?" I asked.
"There's this new attraction in Blue Fire City, I heard it will only be there till autumn ends. Wanna go and see it?" Ivy asked.
"What time is your flight?" I asked Skyler.
"10 in the evening." He replied.
"Great! We have a whole day. Why don't you bring your things with you and I'll drive you to the airport after we're done." Ivy offered.
I looked at Skyler and waited for his decision.
"Sure. Thank you in advance." He replied.
We finished our breakfast and Ivy dragged me to my bedroom and helped me dress up. When we came out of my room Skyler had already changed and was flipping the channel of the television to waste time.
"Sorry, we took so long." I said when we came out.
"It's fine… wow. You look so pretty." He commented when he saw me.
"Right? She's pretty, right? If only she dresses up more, I'll bet my right arm that men would be lining up at your front door to date you." Ivy commented and I rolled my eyes.
"Let's go before I decide that I want to spend the whole day holed up in my room." I said.
