Bia woke up at six in the morning and felt that her sister was not next to her. She quickly sat to find her sister lying on top of the bed with nothing covering her. Bia was relieved to see her sister safe on the bed but, she was confused too.
How did Alek end up in her own bed instead of hers? But, she came to a conclusion may be Alek went to the washroom last night and slept on her own bed like they used to back home.
Bia removed the covers off her and went to stand next to the bed Alek was sleeping. She carefully placed her blanket on her sister because she knew getting the blanket from under Alek would probably wake her up.
Bia went out of their room to wash her face. When she returned to the room, she put on her headphone and started doing the stretch she does every morning. Her body was flexible due to being in a gymnastic club since she was little.
When Alek woke up in the morning, Bia was already awake and was done with her stretches. Alek sat up straight and looked around the room.
Bia was surprised that she woke up early and sitting up straight. Alek usually needed to take a moment before opening her eyes and getting out of her bed. Her sister was getting weirder day by day.
"Morning." Bia greeted her sister and, Alek saw Bia with confusion. "What's wrong? Are you wondering about what time is it now? Well it's almost seven in the morning."
Alek heard her sister talking but, she wasn't listening. She remembered that she went to the clearing last night. The light. Her right foot...
She suddenly grabbed the blanket off of her and found no swelling on her foot. She touched it, pinched it and wiggled her toes but, she felt nothing wrong with them. It was as if last night's crack never happened. But she saw her feet were dirty with mud was relieved to find out that last night was a dream.
Alek smiled widely, seeing the mud on her feet. Bia saw Alek smile, seeing her nasty feet.
"What the heck did you do last night? Were you out somewhere? It's so nasty and your smile is creeping me out." Bia told her sister with obvious disgust written on her face.
"Nothing...Nothing! I'll go and wash my feet now." Alek told her sister with a smile that crept her sister more.
Alek hastily climbed off the bed and made her way towards the door. She hit her pinky toe on the edge of the Bia's bed and, she groaned in pain but kept smiling and said I'm fine, before disappearing behind the door and closing it with a thud.
Bia saw how her sister acted and, she wondered. Was she going to be like that when she reaches Alek's age or, Alek is just abnormal? She picked the latter one and agreed to it. Her sister is not normal. She nodded to herself.
Meanwhile, Alek was in the bathroom, washing the mud off her feet. Alek was still high from her experience last night and, it seemed like her adrenaline was also back. When she was done washing her feet, she saw herself in the mirror.
Her hair looked like she had been in a storm. She didn't know she looked like this but, she didn't care. She even smiled to herself.
The girl in the mirror smiled back at her. But her smile was not normal. Her eyes were glistering with something. Her eyes were shining like a hunter's eyes when he porched an endangered species. And that smile... That right there is dangerous. The smile was worse than the eyes that were staring back at Alek.
No wonder Bia was creeped out. She was indeed creepy.
Alek winked at the messy-haired girl in the mirror and went out of the bathroom.
When she was washing her feet, she realized that there were many tiny cuts and, it pained her slightly when washing them. But the pain made her smile more. The cuts were another proof that last night's light was real. Alek wiped her feet gently and applied a cream on them in her room.
Bia went out of the room in exchange for Alek. She needed to shower. She was sticky from the stretches. She never liked to sweat even, though she liked to fight. She always finds a way to fight without sweating much.
When Alek heard the shower running from outside the room, she grabbed her pillow and stood up silently. Her face was devoid of any emotions until she screamed into her pillow. She was freaking happy!!
When Alek was satisfied with screaming, she threw the pillow on the bed and screamed in silence. Her body was trembling with happiness. Tears of joy started to fill her eyes and, she let them flow. She slapped herself just because she wanted to and continued to scream.
Alek started to run around the room and jump up and down. She was like a headless chicken. She was also doing her weird dancing while roaming around. Her tears continued to flow even while she was doing the dance.
Then she started to kiss everything in her sight. The pillows, the bedsheet, Bia's tablet, her arms... she was crazy in a good way. There was no music in the room but, Alek felt like she was at a live concert with thousands of people. She was vibing. Feeling the beat in her head.
When Bia opened the door, she saw her sister kissing a wall. She closed the door in a n instant and stood in front of the door for a while. Bia opened the door again, hoping for something else. But the sight didn't change that much. Now, Alek was kissing the headboard of her own bed.
When Alek noticed her sister present in the doorway, she rushed towards her and kissed her cheek. Bia didn't know what had happened to her sister and, neither didn't she expect her sister to come up to her and kiss her cheek.
Because Bia was caught off guard, she didn't have time to run away from her sister. She stood still as Alek pulled away from her sister and went to find other objects to kiss. Bia's face was mixed with disbelief, slight disgust, confusion, and a little, really little happiness in her eyes. By the time she snapped back to reality, she saw her sister kissing the clothes she was wearing.
She then finally realized that she was in a bath towel. Bia had put her wet hair up in a bun, and now, it was getting cold. Bia quickly walked towards the closet. Grabbed the spare clothes and went out of the room to get changed. Leaving the crazy girl in the room alone to continue doing what she was doing.
When Bia came back with her clothes on, Alek now had headphones on her head and was now in her own world. Bia didn't feel like interfering in her sister's world, so she silently went to the bedside table to grab the tablet before leaving Alek in her own world again.
Bia went straight to the bench where she found Alek talking with her aunt and sat there. She brought the tablet to listen to nature music but, she realized that this place was filled with nature sounds.
Bia heard the sound of Shishi-odoshi, hitting the stone other neath it constantly. Leaves of sunflowers brushing against another. And muffled sounds from the house when she closed her eyes and concentrated.
Bia inhaled the morning air and, she went to the pond to meet the fish. There was a small bridge over the pond and, she sat there in the middle. The fish did not seem to care about Bia and continued swimming gracefully underwater. She didn't care if the fish cared about her. She just sat there, staring at the fish swimming.
Bia didn't know how much time had passed until her grandmother showed up and asked her to help in the kitchen. She had met her grandmother when she was going to shower, so she needn't say morning to her twice. Bia stood up from the bridge, looked down one last time at the fish before going to the bench to grab the tablet and following her grandmother into the house.
Bia's hair was now dry and curly and, it made her smile. She liked to change her hairstyles on different occasions but, she usually kept her hair natural. It was bouncy.
She went into the kitchen to help her grandmother prepare breakfast and was halfway done when Alek came to help them. Alek had changed her pyjamas to her spare clothes. Alek didn't look like a psycho now. It looked like she had combed her hair and wiped her tears off. Alek was radiating happiness from her entire being and, this made Mikoto smile.
When they were done making breakfast, Alek and Bia went to wake up everyone while Mikoto prepared the utensils.
They didn't make the traditional Japanese meal for breakfast because it would take time to make them. Thus, the three made something that was easy and light for everyone to eat. They made many slices of sandwiches with different flavours on the table and let people choose which one they wanted to eat.
When Kai and Iris saw each other in the room, they scolded the other and made poses. Iris raised both her hands above her head and also her right foot. Her hands were made into a shape of a snake. On the other hand, Kai put his snake-like hands in front of him and lowered his stance. This action of them earned laughs from everyone in the room and, the two slightly smiled at each other before sitting in the position like yesterday.
They all ate breakfast with laughs and smiles. After finishing breakfast and washing the dishes, the parents told their children to start packing their things.
Alek and Bia quickly packed their things and put them in the car before going back to talking with their cousins before they left. And Alek didn't forget to get the book from the library and putting it in her bag.
Iris and Kai were in a serious conversation and, the aura around them made everyone not disturb them. The twins and Bia started talking and, Alek joined them.
They had become close to each other in just one day and, this was amazing. They didn't want to lose contact with them again, so they exchanged numbers and promised to talk often.
When the parents were done discussing whatever they were discussing with Mikoto, they began hugging their goodbyes to everyone. Mikoto kissed each of her grandchildren on their foreheads and hugged them tightly before letting them go.
Mikoto had done the same things to Alek but, when she let go of her, she stared at Alek intently. Talking through her eyes. Alek knew what her grandmother was trying to say, so she nodded back at her with a reassuring smile.
Mikoto said I love you to everyone before they got in the car and waved until the cars could not be seen.
Mikoto looked back at her now empty house when she spoke.
"She is worth it and, she can handle it. She is the only one who can do that."
"I do hope so." A voice replied to her from nowhere, and now, there was a small smile on Mikoto's face.
