"You want everyone to believe that you weren't the cause of Uncle Jake's death?" Nagita's face looks lazy. There is something in her mind that always wants to destroy Cassandra's life.
According to the past.
Ever since Lucia gave birth to her first child, Mr. Martin has suddenly kept his distance from her. It's because after their first child who had just been born was declared dead, Mr. Jake often came to Mr. Martin's house to visit Lucia. Whenever his brother comes, Lucia couldn't help but be happy; Mr. Jake always has a way to get rid of the grief on her face.
Seeing this, Mr. Martin had a bad prejudice against his wife and brother. He suspects that the child who has just been declared dead is the result of an illicit relationship between the two of them. This made Mr. Martin jealous.
Sadly, the relationship between him and his brother has become tenuous, and it lasted until Mr. Jake died. Mr. Martin still continues to prejudice that Jake and Lucia have betrayed him.
Mr. Martin was then surprised by the appearance of Cassandra, a twenty-five-year-old girl, in their lives. He couldn't help but see the image of Lucia every time he looked at Cassandra, which caused his heart's wounds to hurt again.
Nagita knows her father doesn't like Cassandra, but she doesn't know why.
However, what makes Nagita confused is that she once saw her father kept a photo of Cassandra in his wallet.
Why could that be! Nagita thought, upset in her heart.
Seeing Cassandra, Nagita wants to curse because her father always compares her to Cassandra, but Cassandra is always on the good side and a good example. This makes Nagita's heart inflamed.
"Can't you live like a normal person? Look at Cassandra!" her father often said.
Nagita has a habit of coming home early in the morning with the smell of alcohol filling her mouth. "Who's Cassandra! Why does my father always compare me to that bitch!"
She often wonders why her father is rude every time he faces Cassandra, but when he doesn't, he adores her.
Nagita's heart is sad because of that; she feels her father does not love her.
Besides her annoyances, her father often said, "You're full of vice and having fun all the time. If you can't be like Cassandra, don't expect to get a position in my company!"
Being overcooked by his father's harsh words, Nagita couldn't bear to shout and answer back.
"Don't you know Cassandra was Uncle Jake's mistress!"
When Mr. Jake was still alive, Nagita always said that she had proof that Cassandra was a hired woman who was often with Mr. Jake as warmer on the bed.
"Besides, if she's really a good woman, why does she have a child! Whose kid is that! She's a bitch!"
Mr. Martin's body shook; he didn't notice that he had slapped his own daughter.
Slap!
"Don't dare to say that again! She's not what you think!" Somehow, Mr. Martin felt the need to defend Cassandra.
His wife, Lucia, died a few years ago. He loved Lucia so much. His wife's face was very similar to Cassandra's.
Lucia and Cassandra always look beautiful and stunning, especially when smiling. The way they speak is really similar. Their voices sounded meek, making the men fall in love. Aside from that, Lucia and Cassandra are also equally intelligent.
Mr. Martin gasped. He had slapped Nagita. He had never been rude to his second child before, but today, he just hurt her.
Tears flowed profusely from Nagita's face.
"Nagita, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to," but Nagita's heart had been deeply wounded; her heart hurt so much.
Nagita turned her back and immediately ran to the room.
Because of that woman, Dad slapped me! I'm going to take revenge on her! Nagita thought.
***
Cassandra stood in front of Nagita. When Mr. Jake was alive, Nagita had spread rumors dozens of times that Cassandra was Mr. Jake's mistress.
But until now, even Mr. Jake was already dead, rumors were still circulating and further compounded by the bad issue saying Cassandra was the cause of Mr. Jake's death. (Most likely it was Nagita who spread)
"It wasn't me who killed Dad." Cassandra vehemently denied.
Slap!
Nagita's shoulders rose and fell rapidly. Her hands trembling after slapping Cassandra. Her voice was filled with anger. "Don't ever call him Dad! You are absolutely no blood relation to our family! You're just an ambitious woman found on the street! Shameless bitch!"
It hurts so much. This is the first time Nagita has hit her. The bad thing about it is—it happened right in front of Carlos.
Cassandra touched her sore cheeks for a moment as she gave Nagita a death glare. She often ignored Nagita's insults out of her respect for Mr. Jake, who was Nagita's uncle—but not this time!
"Why did you slap me?" Cassandra asked coldly, as her hands clenched. Aside from her pride was humiliated, what peeve Cassandra is when people hurt her even though she did nothing wrong. It was one hardship she experienced in the Xavier family; she swore to herself that she would never let it happen again.
It was too late when Nagita noticed a heavy slap to her cheek, triple the force she did to Cassandra.
"What are you doing, Miss?" The baritone's voice came from Carlos' direction.
Cassandra's hand was held by Carlos before Nagita could finally absorb the strong impact of the slap. Nagita is lucky.
Cassandra's face bent with anger. Her voice trembles when she finds out Carlos is preventing her from hurting Nagita.
Why did Carlos defend this woman? Casandra thought angrily.
"Let me go!" Cassandra commanded, she sounds authoritative.
But Carlos had no intention of removing his grip on Cassandra's wrist.
"No. If I let go of your hand, then you will hurt an innocent woman."
Like giving gasoline to the fire, Carlos' remarks further fueled Cassandra's hatred for him.
"Are you blind! Didn't you see who was the first to slap!" Cassandra yelled, piercing her tiger look to Carlos. Her heart was pounding. Blood flowed into her head, she seemed to be about to explode anytime.
"Who are you referring to as innocent!" Cassandra was so angry. If the glare was just deadly, Carlos would probably lay down by now.
"That's enough," Santiago mediated. He was jealous when he saw Carlos holding the wrist of the woman he loved.
"Let her go," asked Santiago in a calm voice. Carlos refused. The woman's skin was very smooth. When Carlos held Cassandra's hand, there was a strange feeling in his heart. Fernanda's shadow flashed through her mind.
"It's not me, Carlos ... it's not me." Fernanda's screams filled his head. In an instant, Carlos gasped and let go of Cassandra.
Reddish marks are clearly visible on Cassandra's skin because of Carlos' strong grip. "How dare you touch my hand!" Cassandra screamed.
Carlos was terrified. He regretted what he did. He realized what he just did had offended Cassandra.
Nagita was pleased. This time someone defended her. She looked at Cassandra haughtily. The handsome man who was beside him had restored her pride.
When Carlos was about to apologize to Cassandra, Nagita immediately pulled Carlos' arm possessively, and said to Cassandra, "I think that's enough for you today. I'm leaving."
Carlos' mouth was already open. He was just about to say, "I'm sorry," but no apology came out of his mouth. Then he went with Nagita.
Cassandra's cheeks still felt sore. However, it was her heart that was most painful because of her ex-husband's actions.
"Come on, Cassandra, let's get out of here," Santiago said, not knowing anything about Carlos. He just thought it would be better for Cassandra to leave that place to avoid gossip from the people around.
Cassandra bites her lower lip. She is still annoyed because she didn't get revenge on Nagita, especially since the man she hates interfered.
From a distance, there were three pairs of eyes that noticed the fight between Nagita and Cassandra.
"Did you hear what the woman with Carlos said? Cassandra was just found on the street." Mr. Oscar smirked.
Patricia showed an evil smile. She immediately thought of what Mr. Oscar was thinking.
"I need to investigate this," Mr. Oscar added.
"You're right!" Mrs. Sara replied while smiling, she is already excited about her husband's plan.
