Chapter 5 - House in Misha 2

The door creaked and outside air went inside. Inside a spacious area, there are many people in groups. The place looked like a pub with tables and chairs dividing the people into different parties. In each table, different topics are discussed. One group is discussing strategy with a map on top of their table. Others are having fun with booze on the table. Aside from tables, there are also pinboards attached to the walls. Each pinboard is categorized by Procurement, Subjugation, Bounty Hunt, and Job Listing.

As one enters the easiest to spot is the wide reception desk. Receptionists tend to adventurer's concerns and aid in the issuance of missions, rewarding, and buying goods.

Morbius needs to buy a house as soon as possible. People his age should be at the end of the stick of their lives, but Morbius is different. At the age of 4000 years old, he is just beginning his journey in life.

He went to the reception desk and approached a free receptionist. He informed the receptionist of his intention. The receptionist smiled and provided him a form to be filled. Everything should be alright until...

'Fuck! Age! My birthdate is too ancient not to be noticed. Should I lie?', Morbius did not think too much and filled the form with a fake birthdate. There seems to be no problem so they proceeded to the assessment.

The test is quite simple, enter the assessment chamber. That's it? Well, actually not. The assessment chamber is a device that could fit a person inside. The chamber emits energy particles that enter every nook and cranny of the body. The amount of energy particles the body could absorb determines the talent of the person and the rest of the energy particles is reflected in the chamber. To explain it mathematically the energy particles absorbed by the body are equal to the total energy produced by the chamber minus the particles reflected by the body.

The energy particle is the general term for mana, qi, or any energy signature in the air that could be utilized by martial artists, magicians, and other forms of a cultivator. Mana and qi, as well as other airborne energy particles, have distinct characteristics. Mana could be used by magicians for magic, but they can't use mana to power a martial art technique. Mana flows to a person's mana veins, while qi flows to a different channel.

Morbius entered the chamber. His body tensed up a bit but soon calmed down as invisible energy seems to permeate inside the pores of his body. In a trance, his erratic breath became stable. Then the test was done. The receptionist looked at the result and took note of the result. Morbius went out of the chamber afterward.

Morbius and the receptionist went back to the reception desk area. The receptionist processed his license and gave it to Morbius.

(AN: age is faked by Morbius)

------

Morbius looked at his license card. He looked at his simple-looking card. He is quite confused about what "normal" talent means.

"What does normal talent mean?" asked Morbius. The receptionist just finalized recording the data in their magical database. After that, he explained.

"Talents are classified in five types...", the receptionist continued.

------

Normal, Knight, Sage, Venerate, and Legend - these are the five talent classes. Normal talent means that a person could cultivate. Their cultivation is not aided by any talent, making their cultivation speed at a normal pace if not slow.

Knight, Sage, and Venerate could be considered the same pace but each has a different effect. Knight-class talent is a talent that strengthens a person and his cultivation in battles. A Sage-class talent is a talent that allows a person to comprehend nature and acquire knowledge faster. A Venerate-class talent strengthens a person via enlightenment. The fuel for a Venerate talent is philosophical attainment and firmness of self-belief. Examples of Venerate talent are those who believe in Dao.

Legend-class talents are different from the rest and different from each other. Each one has a different path to follow. Each Legend-class talent is unique in that it could only be assessed as Legend albeit having different traits. A Legend-class talent is definitely a precious talent. For example, 200 years ago, there is a Legend named Pleasure Master. His Legend-class talent is called Fourteen Pillars of Pleasure.

In exchange for a tremendous amount of energy, he could control the kind of pleasure a person feels. As long as one had any feelings of pleasure he could change the type of pleasure within the fourteen pillars.

During his prime, he joined a war between empires (an empire is bigger than any kingdom). In a war of hundreds of thousands, malevolence and killing intent is inevitable. These feelings are part of the Malevolent Pillar. With this, he manipulated the enemies and changed their malevolence to benevolence. The display of such ability shocked the continent. Enemies accepted the sharp lances that penetrated their hearts with a smile on their faces like a fanatic. There is not a tad bit of resistance against the aggression of Pleasure Master's affiliated force. Every enemy died as if it is their honor to have such death.

That battle also marked an end of an empire and the rise of winners. For what happened to Pleasure Master afterward? Nobody knows.

------

'Well, there goes my chance to become a Legend', Morbius is not even disappointed with the result. At least, he could still cultivate and learn how to fight.

'Is immortality not a talent? I don't even know the extent of this immortality. I still aged a bit, but I lived for over 4000 years. Will I die if someone stabbed me in the heart? I don't even wanna find out.'

Morbius nodded and thanked the receptionist for his assistance. Morbius then took his VSU (Violeta Service Union) License. The test for VSU License is just a simple written exam. Adventurer's Guild had more budget than VSU. Adventurer's Guild has the budget to power the assessment chamber, but the service union could only afford written exams.

After obtaining the required licenses, Morbius was brought to the Realtor Office. He chose a house near the most important places - The Adventurer's Guild, Auction House, Library, and Apprentice Hall. With his tests, concluded Morbius Hunt finally became an F-rank Adventurer, chef, and a citizen of Violeta Kingdom's Misha City. 'Finally, my own home.'
