Chapter 8 - Wounded Beast

After Keir defeated the pack of wolves and gained their abilities, his body has been going through changes. He often craves meat and his teeth have been itching for it. As he rests his muscles tingle and wants to run and jump, it just wants some sort of activity going on, or else he wouldn't be able to sleep. Keir would randomly have urges to wail out a roar and there are times when he can't control those urges.

Of course, it is because he had merged with beasts he also merged with their urges and has fragments of their memories. It was painful for him to not fulfill the wants of his own body.

Keir thought of summoning the beast for him to be released from the urges, but what he was released from was the power. His impulses remained.

It was his third day in the forest and had four more days for him to fight the man. He took the three days to rest and controlled his urges, but on the third night, he couldn't bear it anymore. Keir couldn't fall asleep and was in pain from his body. He couldn't bear it anymore. As a result, he stopped thinking. Keir let his desires free.

His pupils shined a scarlet light, and his teeth sharpened and got harder. He was ready to run, and his legs tightened. His nails got longer, harder, and pointier.

But his physique didn't change, his behavior, and ways did.

He burst into a run with his two legs. He still had his human nature to a certain level.

As he ran, he let out a tremendous roar, not of a human. It was the beast in him.

While he ran, he saw a light in between the trees, a yellow light. His instinct told him to stay away from the light, but he could smell the meat from the light. His impulses were stronger than his instinct, so he jumped from one tree to another with powerful leaps until he finally neared the lighted area where a few people sat on logs of wood, wearing shiny metal armor.

They laughed while chewing on meat burnt by the fire in front of them. When he saw the humans, his gut told him to murder them, chew on their belly and flesh. To play with their bones and to drink their blood. Unlike the previous instinct, this one was stronger. It was the mixture of his instinct and urge.

The moment the people in armor saw him, fright covered their eyes. They threw their food away and picked up their weapon. Kier roared as loudly as he could to instill fear in them, and it worked.

He was a human with shining red eyes, pointy teeth, sharp and long nails, standing on a firm branch.

Keir realized he was outnumbered, so he summoned the beasts and surrounded the people with the beast.

A woman shot an arrow at him, but his sharp sense had already told him what it was and how long will it take after that it was up to his reflex.

Keir immediately caught the arrow a few inches away from his eyes.

The woman continued to shoot, but couldn't land a single arrow on Keir as he leaped from one tree to the other.

The people had already made a formation, with all of them making a circle with the Archer and the fire in the center.

The Archer is an important asset in that fight, but the fire was even more important as it lit the area and without it, the people would be dead in an instant by that monster. A man neared the fire in a hurry and lit a few torches and carried them while the others were ready to engage in battle.

This group was no ordinary group. It had a lot of experience in battle and was a cunning group.

The people had engaged in combat with the summoned beasts while Keir was aiming for the fire in the center and the one caring for the torches.

A man after a fierce battle with the summoned beast sliced it and it became black liquid-ish gas and vanished the same as the other three. Keir was now alone.

Last time it was a pack of weak beasts with barely any intelligence, and now it is a battle with highly intelligent and strong humans. Keir can't keep running away. He tried to summon the beasts but couldn't. Keir was confused as if right now and scared.

But he couldn't run away again. He was a human with just a part beast. Keir roared again with all his might. He turned his legs into that of a beast and jumped on the ground and made a high jump to surpass the wall made by the people. As he jumped to the center where the fire was lit but the people turned around and pointed their swords and spears at him and he landed on them.

He screamed and cried in pain.

'I am going to die'

Is what Keir thinks.

He moves and struggles to get out but cannot until he takes a deep breath and stops moving around. He looks around and sees a lot of parts have been pierced by the weapons. He looks at the parts and remembers them. The parts slipped off the weapons when he turns them into a beast. Keir lands on the fire where he stomps and kicks the area until it is dark. It burnt him and it was painful. It felt like millions of needles piercing his skin, but he didn't stop.

In the dark, he could see different colors. He could see everything and its volume. He pushed the people around and broke the formation.

He then sliced off the heads of the humans in silence until there was no one alive. Keir climbed onto a body and ripped open its belly, he forced his hands deeper into the person and ripped off its heart. He wasn't seeing things anymore.

Keir raised the human heart and squeezed all the blood inside. The blood then poured into his mouth and he drank it all. Keir threw away the squeezed heart and his vision faded away.

By the time Keir had got his mind back, he had already finished a woman to the bone, pieced of flesh and bones scattered around with the rotten smell of blood. Keir felt a burning sensation on his chest and it was growing, moving towards his mouth until the burning thing had reached his mouth and he vomited intense black liquid.

It must have been the blood he couldn't digest, but he could take in the flesh because Keir had eaten raw meat as a part of his training with his father.

Keir looked at the bodies and felt incredibly disgusted. He took a few of their belongings such as a few armor plates and potions and burned their bodies with his black sword.

He felt incredibly lighter and had a satisfying sensation, even though he had just vomited. It felt like the weight his heart had been carrying was going out every time he exhales.

Keir now entered his consciousness and went through their memories to know their rank and their prowess. Their prowess did not differ from a trained martial artist, but there was one person who was on his to gaining higher power through Ins.

Keir's father had never shown his true powers other than swordsmanship. His father always told him, 'Out there, you can achieve unimaginable power through the mysterious energy.' He had later learned that the "mysterious power" that his father had told him was Qi and through the use of Qi, his father granted him his sword.

That person had the idea that by manifesting Raw Qi (Qi is no longer raw after it turns into the individual's element), it can be turned into the individual's element. Raw Qi can also increase a person's life or it can strengthen the body.
