Ralph stopped outside the door and watched it carefully under the flickering light of the torch in his hand.
The last time he came into this part of the Longhurst mansion was about three months ago. And yet it has not changed much, except for the thickening of the dust layer and the increasing population of insects and spiders.
He didn't bother to clear the cobwebs or remove the dust, instead, he bent forward and rummaged through the thick bunch of dust matted cobwebs. His fingers touched the cold metal and felt the rust on its surface.
He pulled it out and after straightening up, found the circular hole in the handle of the door. One might think that it was a part of its design, but only Ralph knew that it wasn't.
He inserted the metal rod he had found in that hole downwards and then twisted it to the right. An irritating creaking sound fell on his ears.
