Chapter 1
The Boy And The Book
Rain was pouring down outside the 1 bedroom apartment building as Spliff ascends the stairs to his second floor apartment. He clutches to his chest a bag with several books about magic, alchemy, and demonology. These are the types of things Spliff spends his weekends researching to help make the RPG he's developing really stand out amongst the crowd. He already had an interest in magic, even growing up he was never the type of person to say magic wasn't real. In fact he had made it his life's mission to learn everything he could about magic. Even going so far as to pay hundreds of dollars for a very rare book he found on an occult website. At first he thought the title was just a joke so on a whim he ordered it; he figured if it was a joke product he could Atleast get a good laugh and add it to his collection.
He pushes his key into the bottom lock, and then turns it. He repeats this with the top lock, turning the knob and opening the door as he trods wet and sullen into the living room. He throws the bag of books down on his couch; walks to the kitchen, prepares some instant ramen in the microwave and walks out to let it cook. He crosses back over to the pile of books on the couch. He lifts a book entitled "Encyclopedia Of Supernatural Entities And Dangerous Spirits". He flips thru the pages skimming the pictures of the beasts, familiars, demons, and various supernatural entities. Ignoring a page with a female spirit with cow horns, he begins to read about "The Chupacabra". Suddenly a litany of different things happen all at once, first the power in the apartment goes out, there is flash of lightning, a crash of thunder, a knock on the door, and the power comes back on.
Spliff walks over to the door and opens it swiftly, looking left and right to see who knocked on the door. Seeing no one he finally looks down and sees a package on the landing. A single rectangular package, roughly wrapped in thick paper and twine and slightly damp from the rain that managed to get blown under the awning onto the landing.
Spliff grips the package with his right hand, and flips it over looking for a sender or return address. He flips it back after this fails to yield results. He frowns slightly; lifts the book from the landing and closes his door, locking it behind him. He walks over to his couch as his phone goes off. He picks up his phone off the couch next to him as he plops down and unlocks it. The notification was from the website he ordered the book from confirming his delivery. Spliff unwraps the rectangular package; tearing the paper from its nearly wrapped form. A neatly bound black leather tome tumbled into his lap with intricate white lettering that reads "The Nymphonomicon". As Spliff picks the book up he hears the rain begin to pick up outside and a crash of thunder.
Spliff walks to his kitchen and grabs his Ramen from the microwave, and returns to the couch. He flips thru the pages of the book he just received and sees the same female cow spirit from the Encyclopedia but this time her form is more womanly and she's stacked! He chokes on his ramen as he reads the passage below that details the cow spirits name and how to summon her. "Wait" Spliff says as he puts down his fork. "Summon?" He says in a curious voice.
