The walk the last few hours has been bothersome, to say the least. I wouldn't have offered to take them with me if I knew they would be talking so much. "Irene, how many times do I have to say it. Libertas isn't going to be anything like Pantheon Online." They're currently talking about the last great VRMMORPG. Pantheon Online is the one my father and I played together. I have so many memories of that game. I've come to learn all their names from their conversations. They've been kind enough to leave me out of it.
Irene is the youngest girl. She's 20. Her older brother is the tallest and oldest of the group. His name is Jake. "Melisa, tell her that Pantheon Online is a cakewalk compared to this game. Remind her how many times we died trying to get that waystone. We're all at negative levels cause of her." Melisa is the second girl in the group and isn't related to Jake or Irene. She is the cousin of the guy that just talked. His name is Blake. They were foolish enough to head straight into combat, and now there at negative levels. In Libertas, you can lose levels below 0 if you die enough.
These four won't be able to help me with anything regarding the dungeon, but they could prove useful for fighting monsters. I'm not going to use them as bait, as fun as that sounds. Having a group focusing on killing monsters this early will help greatly. The biggest and best guilds are already grinding away and gaining levels. Naturally, I'll fall behind, and it's going to be that way. Having the 10% EXP gains for everything helps, but I'll never be able to compete with the leveling speed of guilds. In terms of power, that has yet to be seen.
Devin never took on an entire guild. He kept to himself and made sure people stayed away. It was rumored he was strong enough, but that was far into the future. Where his level was insane, and so was his power. "Listen, Blake. If she wants to play this way, we can't stop her. Let her find out for herself." Melisa responds to blake's questions with a political answer I hear on TV too much back in the real world. Their conversations are monotonous and boring to me. Nothing really interesting to talk or think about. They've been following me for the past few hours.
I'm going to guess that soon. They'll start to ask questions on how much longer the walk with be. I never told them that the trip from when I picked them up would be around 11 to 12 hours. "Hey." I hear the voice of the oldest, Jake. "How much longer until we reach this place? You haven't even told us where we're going." That's true. I haven't told them the name of the place we're heading to. Not like they'd know in the first place. I stay silent, and I can tell that it's making Jake annoyed at how dismissive I am. How little I care.
I look up ahead, and I see that there is still a long and winding path through a vast forest. It'll have monsters in it for sure, some extra leveling on the way there. "We're heading to a place called Nettleton. It's a long-abandoned town, and no one lives there anymore. I'm taking you there. It has a broken teleportation gate, and anytime you come across one in Libertas. You'll get a quest to repair it. It doesn't matter if it's in the middle of an abandoned town or in the heart of a dungeon." My explanation causes an awkward silence. That's the most I've spoken since I've met them.
I haven't told them why I'm going there yet, and I'm still debating if I should get their help regarding the monster farming near Nettleton. "Repairing the teleportation gates are rather simple. Getting there is going to be annoying. We still have around 8 to 9 hours before we reach Nettleton. We also have to pass through forests and areas with monsters. Most are going to be weak. We'll avoid the Restrictions Zones." They stay silent as I speak. I forgot in my moment of explaining that they don't know about Restriction Zones. No one does yet.
