I make my way towards the dungeon, and I mentally prepare myself. Dungeons aren't intended to be soloed, but you can try if you want to. I'm not foolish enough to think that just because I meet the level requirement to enter, that this is going to be a cakewalk. I'll have to take my time, just as I did when I was farming for EXP. I'll have to stop and regenerate my mana when I need to, and I'll need to run away and break aggro while in the dungeon. While my pride doesn't like it, this is smart and a legitimate strategy. It does help that I know a lot about this dungeon.
Grant's Dungeon has a Dungeon Boss and a Mini-boss. Mini-bosses are a term we players have come up with for strong monsters and enemies that are named in dungeons. They aren't as strong as a Dungeon boss, but they're unique enough to have an actual name and a much larger health pool than the rest of the monsters here. The Mini-boss is named Orezal, Servant of Hezel. Hezel was the Epic Grade demon that Grant fought to the death. Orezal is residing in the dungeon out of shame for the death of his master.
Grant killed Hezel but lost his own life in the process. It ended the attack on the city and removed the restricted zone that Hezel was in charge of, but the cities inhabitants were too scared to stay regardless of the threat no longer being here. Orezal is an Uncommon Grade Demon, and he's powerful. He's not unbeatable though, all creatures in Libertas have natural weaknesses. Every single creature has a natural strength against attacks too. Sadly, I don't have anything that'd make use of Orezal's weaknesses. I know of other methods, though.
Orezal is a notoriously slow attacker. While he hits hard, he isn't fast. I can hit him with powerful attacks and avoid him until my mana regenerates and I can attack again. It's basically a war of attrition. The Dungeon boss is who I have to be careful about. It's a Wizard type, which means it'll have no problem attacking me from a distance, unlike Orezal. The dungeon boss is Xerxol, Daughter of Orezal. She's a Rare Grade demon and a powerful one at that. She can one-shot me if she uses her stronger attacks.
She has many different mechanics that aren't going to be easy to overcome, and this is the fight that'll take me the longest in the dungeon. Xerxol is a level 10, and she'll have 200 health. While my attacks will easily kill her, it's her defensive skills that worry me. She can reflect powerful attacks back to its caster at the cost of her mana. I only have 150 health, and I'm not surviving my attacks. She'll also have guards that are level 8 themselves. My attacks are powerful, and they have the potential to one-shot bosses, but that's the proverbial dotted line.
Dungeon bosses and others like them have unique skills to protect them from getting one-shotted. Her ability to reflect attacks is a perfect example. I stop thinking about all the things I know about Grant's Dungeon, and I focus on which attacks I'm going to be using for Orezal and Xerxol. Dark Burst will be perfect for Orezal, but he'll have guards causing trouble for me too. Black Spear is going to be my best friend in this Dungeon. I'm going to use it to clear mobs, and once I'm low on mana, I'll play ring around the rosy with the bosses until my mana is regenerated.
Then I'll happily damage them when it's the damage phase. Another gamer term. A state that's optimal to attack the boss. Usually, when it's just the boss, and you and you have the means to deal heavy damage. I see the Dungeon entrance up ahead and I loosen up and prepare for a long dungeon dive. It's going to take some time, but I'll be able to handle the mobs with Dark Vines. It's heavy on the mana, but it'll hold them back and damage them too. In this situation, it's actually better than using Black Spear. I have so many new combinations to learn with this class and the best way to use it. It's going to be fun mastering this class.
