Finally, the work was done. The gate looked more beautiful than it was. The logo of Kingdom Elamite consisted of a water dragon which went round with some water sprinkling on top of it and some wired things at the top. I didn't take my time to interrogate the logo because I was too busy with thinking about a new design for the gate. Since the Princess liked the pink colour, I decided to paint some part of the gate with pink and blue which was the Kingdom's colour. It looked beautiful and elegant and I was sure that, they would like it. In the evening, I asked the Royal Cook to try to package the food for the guards since their family back home would be worried about them and she did. They packaged the food and I shared it among them and everybody went back home. It was really stressful, and since the Princess will not come back that day, I decided to make myself enjoy the rest of the evening in that room alone and have a good night sleep. So I went to take my warm bath, surprisingly, they called the palace's special therapist to come and massage me. I was so happy and I enjoyed it too, I didn't even realize when I fell asleep. In my deep sleep, I felt cold at once and when I woke up, I saw that the window was opened so I went to close it and went back to bed. I was about to fall asleep again and I felt a touch on my shoulders, I jumped up with fear but fortunately, it was no other person than Bryant Lytton. I missed him so much so I forgot about my how painfully my body was hurting and hugged him as if my whole life depends on it. "Where were you all these while Bryant Lytton, I missed you so much that words cannot explain," I cried. He held my two hands and said,"Do not worry Valerie, I know you missed me but you know I'm always with you right? I'm always here in your heart and will not even dream of leaving you Valerie." With his words, I felt so much relieved with the emotional trauma I was going through. He let me sit on the bed and he began to sing my 'let down song' to me,"You with the sad eyes, don't be discouraged though I realize it's hard to take courage, in a world full of people, you could loose sight of it all and the darkness inside you can make you feel so small but I see your true colours shinning through, I see your true colours and that's why I love you so don't be afraid to let them show, your true colours, true colours are beautiful." This song always boosts my mind. It helps me realize that I'm stronger than my problems. After the song, he continued,"So tell me Princess Valerie, what's trying to bring you down? You know you can share right?" Timidly, I began talking,"Bryant I have crushed on someone that despises this kingdom." I could see Bryant's mouth making the 0 shape but I continued,"He is Prince George of a certain town near this one. He claims he came here for a business deal with the King but ended up attacking the palace. Thank God that, I went out that faithful moment to catch them early. I then went and told the chief commander about it and he gathered all the army soldiers to war against them. They being wise, they hid in the bushes so that the Prince would not say that he was coming to give the soldiers to the King. They waited until the Prince and his soldiers broke down the back gate with a cherry bomb before the commander ordered them to attack them. The battle was fierce, I watch blockbuster movies where they fight but I couldn't believe that I was actually watching it in reality. Later, I decided to make my way into the palace to ensure that everyone was fine, but before I could enter, I saw Prince George and two of his soldiers entering the palace, I quietly followed them until they got to the Royal Bedroom, I knew that he wanted to steal something so I went to the kitchen where we mixed hot pepper with boiled water and distributed it into some water guns. Quietly, we went to the bedroom but before I could even order them to start pouring out the water on them, the Prince cut me with his sword which hurt me in the heart. The maids, on seeing condition started pouring the mixture of boiled water and hot pepper into their eyes. They shouted for mercy but I turned a deaf ear to it. I gave them a rope which they used to tie the Prince and the two soldiers. One of the maids treated my wound and we tidy up the Royal Bedroom. So that was how lovely and terrifying my day was today." Bryant Lytton couldn't believe that I did all that I said but he asked," So where is he now?" "He was taken by the commander and was thrown into the dungeon," I said, remarkable. "It is late now Valerie, we will talk more tomorrow, I know you're very tired so rest okay. He gave me a kiss on my forehead and left to the guest room. The next day, I woke up, brushed my teeth, took my bath and waited in the room to be called for breakfast. I sat on my bed with my legs crossed when Bryant walked into the room and greeted,"Rise and shine Princess Valerie. Good morning from my side of the world." I replied," Good morning Prince Bryant, how are you doing today?" I knew that Bryant doesn't like it when I call him Prince but I wanted to tease him small. To my surprise he didn't even utter a single word. Suddenly, a maid walked in and said,"Ma'am, breakfast is ready, the Chief Cook demands your presence in the small dinning room beside the Royal Dinning Hall." I nodded my head and she left. I went down to the dinning room with Bryant, as we entered the room, we saw all kinds of food served. They separated the dishes according to the country in which they were from. From Chinese food to African food. It was really nice. Bryant took a kind of porridge called Polenta which was from India with tart. I took congou tea which is indigenous to China. I really enjoyed myself. Now, we had to prepare for the coming of the Royal Family, we decorated everywhere and it was really good. The decorations and general cleaning made the palace to look more presentable. I was really proud of myself and I was happy Bryant came. After everything, I ordered the Royal Cook to prepare a special meal for the Royal Family. She should prepare their favourite food and garnish it very well so that it will be very nice and nobody will be allowed to eat before their arrival. Not to forget, I needed to call the Princess and derive the time they will be coming from her. She answered the call and I greeted,"Good morning beautiful Princess of Elamite. I hope you had a wonderful sleep yesterday." With her soft voice as usual she replied,"Yes Miss Valerie Kay, I did. How about you? I hope my decision as to letting Bryant stay in the palace with you was a beneficial one? "Could I have gotten any better gift than this? I teased and she laughed. "When exactly are you coming back with your parents?" I asked. She replied,"Oh dear, I thought you wanted to spend more time with Bryant Lytton, oh yes, that is why you are asking right? To be sure when your romance will end, awwh so sweet." I was pissed off but I said calmly, "Stop being ridiculous Cindy, just tell me when you are coming back." "Oh sorry Valerie Kay, we are already on our way. We are almost home,"she said and I exclaimed. "Okay Cindy, I will see you when you come," I said and hanged up. I gave the informations to everyone that was working so they will do it quickly. About ten to fifteen minutes later, everything was done. The food was prepared, the whole compound was swept, the doors and walls were decorated and everything looked splendid. I told everyone to get ready, by bathing even if they've taken their bath already and dress in a beautiful, elegant and catchy dress because we are going to prove to the Royal Family that, we are learning from them and we can fight battles for them. We can lay down our lives for them to continue taking care of our generations who we will leave behind supposing we die. We need to show them that we really appreciate them, we need to show them that, yes we are great ful for all the travellings they've made because of our well being. For all the midnight candles they burnt because they wanted to make Elamite one of the best kingdoms in the world. I know most of you believe that, the King, the Queen and the Princess are just enjoying themselves in this palace but I want to tell you that, some of you cannot handle a thing if you are made the King. There is a popular saying that says that, 'You will not know the value of someone or something until you loose it.' Let us not wait for the day that we will loose our Royal Family before we appreciate them. A well-known man said one day that,' Do not come to my funeral and show how much you care about me, show it now while I am still alive.' It is true that many people do have the habit of going to funerals to feel pity for the person. They contribute huge amount of money just to show how much they care about the deceased but did not do same when the person was alive. Would we wait for our King to die before we tell his corpse how good he was to us. My brothers and sisters let us do what we have to do now, that is, appreciate our King always. I could see smiles on their faces, their faces was lit up and I was happy that they heed to my advice. "That was a good one there Valerie, you never stop amazing me. You have done a great job. Keep it up always okay?" Bryant remarked and I blushed. I then answered,"I will Bryant, and thank you for your pieces of advice which is always a guide to me and all the good things you have done in my life. If not for you, I would not have come here in the first place, I would not have had (Tears falling) such a beautiful life. I would not have known how life is as a Princess I am without a crown. You brought to light my inner self, my hidden potential. Thank you so much Bryant Lytton, I love you so much." After saying this, I hugged Bryant so tight. "It's okay Valerie, let's go and get dressed before the Royal Family arrives,"he said and I nodded. Bryant and I dispersed to our various rooms to dress up. From my wardrobe, I didn't know what to wear. I tried so many gowns before I finally chose a green gown with a glass shoe, just like Cinderella's own. I made one of the maids to do some makeup for me and style my hair as well. About few minutes later, she was done and at the same time I heard a car horn from the main iron gate and I knew that they were finally here. I removed the bandage on my wound place a small plaster on it. I quickly called everyone and we went to the gate. There was anger on their faces but before I could ask anything, the King roared,"What is it that you have done Miss Valerie Kay? Do you think staying here makes you a member of the Royal Family."
