Chapter 39
Jud's eyes widened as I took another step inside Cedric's room, I looked around and noticed how big the room was, it smelled like Cinnamon and vanilla and since all the furniture in it was dark it screamed Cedric.
My gaze landed on Jud again, I studied his shocked face and noticed the papers in his hands and the other papers scattered all over the place, the drawers were all open or removed from their places, there were big black files thrown around, books, pictures. Frowning, I scowled at Jud "what are you doing in here? And why is the place all wrecked up?" He blinked and wet his lips, his tongue darted out and slid across his lower lip and his eyes looked everywhere but me "I- I… uh" I raised a brow "well? You what? What are you searching for? Why are nervus?" He put the papers in his hands down and brushed his hair back with his hands, then he put his hands on his hips and looked at me "I'm looking for a paper that has important information" I looked down and nodded , I wasn't convinced "does that paper include pack business?" Jud frowned and cocked his head "maybe" suddenly his whole demeanor changed- he turned from nervous to confident and scary, never in a million years did I expect myself to be scared of Jud, since I got here, he always seemed to be a weak link among the rest of the pack's wolves, though he was there with the group of guys that came to rescue me from the Amara pack- he still wasn't the type of guy to be scared of, until now.
I took a step back when he stepped closer to me "you know, Rain, since you got here, everything started to go down and crumble" he chuckled darkly "it's amazing how a single human can turn brothers against each other, packs against each other, thanks to you we almost started a war" I tried to speak in a strong voice as a said my following words "and thanks to me that never happened, because I sacrificed myself to alpha Dracus" Jud nodded "I know, I was there" he stopped a few inches from me "you are such a heavy burden on the pack, maybe you haven't noticed yet" he pointed towards the window "no one wants you here, you are not our luna and you will never be, our luna is dead and you are her alpha's play thing" I shook my head "that's not true" he smirked "maybe you haven't noticed the people outside since you were too busy being held and passed from one wolf to another- but let me help you" I opened my mouth to ask him what he meant, but in a flash I was being dragged by the arms towards the big window, my eyes widened and I tried to pull my arm out of his hold "J-Jud what are you doing, leg go!" I dug my heels into the ground to slow him down, but he didn' even notice. We reached the window and the next thing I knew I was shoved through the glass.
Cyprus
After finishing up with some pack business, I walked towards the main house, I glanced around casually greeting pack members and stopping to have short conversations with the pack people, moments later I reached the front of the house, while I was in deep thought, the sound of broken glass on the second floor made me jerk my head up- just in time to see Rain falling I quickly opened my arms and jumped in the air to catch her, she landed on top of me and groaned "Rain what the hell?!" She raised her hand shakily and pointed up. I looked up and saw Jud staring down at us, when our eyes locked his cowardly face returned and he quickly disappeared.
I helped Rain to her feet, there were scratches and wounds on her arms and legs along with two scars on her face and neck, I looked at the shattered glass scattered on the ground and thanked God she didn't get any big pieces stuck in her arms or eyes . Judging the way she swayed, I figured she's shaken up. I kept a hold of her while we walked inside the house and sat on a couch. I grabbed the first aid kit from the cabinet in the kitchen and started to clean up and bandage her wounds "What happened?" I asked her and waited for her to take a breath, she shook her head and hissed as I tapped some alcohol into one of the scratches "I was looking for you, then I heard crashing and footsteps upstairs , I found Jud in Cedric's room-he was searching through the drawers and files and throwing things around, when I confronted him, he said that he was looking for an important paper, it involved pack business".
Rain
Cyprus looked at me with a scowl on his face, but I knew it wasn't directed at me. He seemed to be processing things. We stayed quiet until he finished cleaning and bandaging my wounds , I hissed and sighed as I shifted to raise my feet on the couch- I was lucky to have Cyprus catch me when I was thrown from the window, things happened so fast that up till this moment I'm still feeling like it's a dream. Cyprus stood up and head towards the stairs, as he put his foot on the first one he stopped and looked at me "listen, try to lay down and rest- I need to check something, first thing is that paper Jud was searching for". I didn't know what the hell he was talking about but I nodded and laid back.
Just as I started to drift off, the front door slammed open and I jumped, Darious came running towards me, he looked at the bandages and panicked "Rain! Are you ok? I just heard about what happened" I took a deep breath to calm down "Jesus christ Darious, you should've knocked, you scared the hell out of me" he pursed his lips then sat down at my feet "I'm sorry, it's just I saw people gathered up around the shattered glass, when I asked they said they saw you fall from the second floor and I thought you were hurt" his worried face warmed my heart and I reached for his hand and took it in mine then smiled warmly at him "aww, that's so sweet, I'm fine cause luckily Cyprus was there on time- if it wasn't for him , I wouldn't have survived the fall". Cyprus nodded, then he frowned "but how the hell did you fall? What were you doing up there?" I sighed and told him the whole story, he frowned again then looked away "huh, no wonder he ran past me while I was on the way here, he seemed odd" the he growled "that fucker is dead when I catch him." Cyprus's voice came up as he descended the stairs "where did Jud head to?"
Darious stood up "I don't know man, but I noticed he was heading north, by the way ge had a map in his hand" Cyprus turned pale and looked at me "that would be the important paper he was searching for " I raised my hand to my mouth "oh my God, I think I remember seeing the map back when Cedeic went to find Zevrus" I motioned with my hands "it was this big, and he explained to me that it shows the locations of every pack in the area across all the diameter" Darious frowned "but what the fuck would Jud want with that map?" Cyprus looked thoughtful for a moment then his eyes widened and he looked at both of us "because he is the spy".
