The spell casted by Joana's opponent was made by some of the most destructive and offensive elements, thus it was very sure that if the spell hit, Joana's life was going to be lost.
Joana knew that if the spell hit her in a critical part of her body with the spell's high penetrative power there was no way of saving her life, thus she put up tier 2 combination defensive spell, [Great Mud Wall], the spell was a made of the elements of Earth and Water.
A giant wall of mud even bigger than [Earth Wall] materialised in front of Joana, she had some confidence that the defensive spell would at least slow down the enemy's spell enough to get away from death.
The [Black Lighting Arrow] was a high damage, high penetration spell that was a go to choice for people with the element affinity required to use the spell, and the spell did not disappoint.
The path taken by the arrow was scorched by the lighting and there was evidence of corrosion, the arrow reached the wall and totally destroyed the [Great Mud Wall], there was a big hole in the mud wall, a very dangerous the spell indeed.
The time that it took the arrow to break through the [Great Mud Wall] was enough for Joana to get away from mortal danger but that did not mean she did not get away without any injuries.
The arrow still managed to hit her arm, the arm immediately disintegrated, Joana immediately fainted from the shock and pain. The pain mainly came from the corrosive darkness elements, and the shock came from losing her arm.
Joana could not be called a beautiful women, but she too had some pride and the loss of her arm right there was too much take.
Seeing Joana faint, Michael knew that he still had a chance to save her life, thus without any pause he casted tier 2 combination large area spell, [Lighting Storm], the spell used the elements of wind and lighting to create a large storm with fast cutting winds and dangerous lighting bolts. The spell barrelled to the opponent so as to prevent him from finishing Joana right there in her defensive less situation.
The [Lighting Storm] barrelled with high speed with the combination of these speed elements, the area the storm passed was full of large gashes due to the cutting winds, trees and rocks were immediately cut without the chance of resistance. The environment was also scorched black due to the continuous lighting bolts that hit everything in the area of effect of the spell. The opponent was not some idiot, he quickly retreated using [Lighting Flash], he felt it was not worth it to sacrifice his life so as to kill Joana.
Michael took the opportunity as the opponent retreated with [Lighting Flash] to cast tier 2 combination high speed spell, [Whirlwind Flash Steps], in order to get to Joana and carry her to safety.
The spell used the elements of wind and lighting to create a fast escape spell, Michael was able to get to the unconscious Joana and carry her as fast as possible.
The female opponent was dumfounded as she watched Michael carry Joana and escape, she even glanced at her male counterpart who had just retreated from [Lighting Storm], he just shrugged.
"That fellow is really fast, can you get that fast in tier 2?"
"Yes you can, you can even get faster if you have the elements of lighting and light."
"I know that Quinn, it was just a rhetorical question. That male fellow is definitely powerful, but his female partner is not that powerful, I saw she specialises in defence."
"She also has the right elements for defence, but I believe her defensive magic ring just falls too far from its theoretical limit. But the main reason seems that she does not have the talent to learn Ice spells."
What the fellow called Quinn said was true, not everyone who got the Water/Ice element affinity could use Ice spells, this was because these people just don't have the talent to learn ice spells, because the spell structure for such spells are usually very difficult. What usually happened to these people was that they could only start using ice spells when they reached higher tiers, but even in those situations these people can only use lower tier spells.
In the case of Joana she can only use some tier 0 ice spells, and those cannot help her in high level battles, now back to the opponents of Michael and Joana, the male was Quinn Wilson and the female was Amber Jenson. These two had just joined the conflict, these two were very powerful with very strong magic rings that had better working efficiency when compared to Michael and Joana.
"I believe we will meet again, let's go and support the others Amber."
Michael used [Whirlwind Flash Steps] to quickly get back to the rear, what was left of Joana's arm started to corroded and he had to cut off some of Joana's arm to prevent further loss.
"Medic! I need help here, I have an injured person!"
"Lt Sergei bring her in!"
Joana was quickly taken to get medical help, Michael just sat down with a tired look. Joana almost died and he too could die at anytime, he had seen the bodies all over the battlefield and this was only the probing attack.
A while later the medical person who came and assisted Michael with Joana came and sat next to Michael, the man was a normal human without magic, the man was smoking a cigarette and seemed he too wanted to rest.
"Lt Davidson is alive. Her life was not in danger, she had fainted from shock and pain."
"Her arm?"
Michael asked what scared him the most about the whole situation, Joana would never be the same without her arm gone, no one would.
"Oh, about that, military command has deployed a tier 3 life special affinity mage to come and deal with such situations."
"Really, why would military command deployed such a person, are things that bad such that we need such an individual?"
"Yes actually, many mages have been badly damaged, whether it is lost arms or legs, this included some officers like Lt Davidson."
This military medic sure knew a lot of information about mages, he was definitely special, but Michael was too tired to care.
The war was heating up.
