Grey was in his room seating on the floor mat with his legs crossed, he was breathing in a particular rhythm that could not be considered normal. The atmosphere around him was filled with magic elements, there were mostly light elements, the elements of fire and wind were in lower quantities, there was very little of the other elements, darkness was practically not around.
The elements of light, were white in colour, the elements gave the feeling of extreme speed and they also gave the feeling of scorch. Light elements had a great of speed and the ability to burn things with high heat, but unlike fire that has an explosive and sometimes uncontrollable behavior, light was not explosive and had high controllability.
As Grey was accumulating more magic elements there was the sound of a crack, that was the magic crystal had just had the magic elements inside of it get finished and thus cracked and formed dirt in the room.
'At this rate I should reach tier 1 before I am 12 years old.'
Grey at the moment was only 10 years old, without the use of magic crystals, tier 0 mages would require 4 - 5 years to reach tier 1, that is the reason the children get to graduate when they reach 15 years of old in the Mage Academies.
Grey had spent a month going to Magic Ring Design class, when he was free he would do some magic study on other topics as well and do some light exercises to keep in shape, they class was never joined by another student.
However he spent most of his time doing research on magic rings, trying to see if was possible to design a special ring that would give him an advantage when he reaches tier 1, with the high chance of getting deployed to war, he needed as many advantages as possible.
However his plans had reached a snag, the space that is available for tier 1 is very small to do anything worthwhile, this had been researched by mages who came before him and the best they could do was make tier 1 rings only make a single spell slightly more powerful, therefore it as challenging for someone who was just starting with magic rings to do better than the veterans.
It was even more difficult to use different Activations other than Strengthen Activation in tier 1 rings, this was because other Activations took too much space.
Grey got up after the magic crystal broke down and the magic elements inside of it got finished, he went and sat in his table in his study with his mind thinking of a solution of his current situation.
'The problem of space in a tier 1 ring cannot be changed, thus the answer lies in the spell structures and the engravement methods.'
'If I can find a way to make spell structures smaller, or make they more efficient than they already are, that should give me some space on the ring.'
'It should be possible to change spell structures, from my research, spell structures are another form of program that must always be activated to get it working. The mage uses his mana to run through the program until the end, then the program works.'
'Using that idea, it is not impossible to put two spells on the tier 1 ring and have both of them use the Strengthen Activation.'
'These two spells could cover both offence and defence, that would somewhat be useful.'
Grey had a lot of ideas but all of them could never make happy about the outcomes they were giving up, he felt there was something that was missing, his intuition just never agreed with what he came up.
Grey left the table and went to seat in his bedroom, in his bedroom there was another ring that was projected using a holographic projector, he had planned to use it when he reached tier 3, it was tier 3 ring, [The Light Shines]. The ring was a ring that was theoretically able to strengthen the overall ability of his light spells by 200%. The ring was practically tier 3 ring, [Strengthen Fire Magic] but for the Light element.
The ring used a Strengthen Activation, however depending on the design of the Magic Ring the strengthening could only reach around 150%, Grey never really liked the inefficiencies that occurred during the design of magic rings. Grey had planned on changing [The Light Shines] and bringing it closer to its theoretical limits so he could get more from it, thus he had been studying it a lot.
The Magic Ring projection of the flat donut which was the magic ring was white because of its light element bias, the ring had lots of writings in one of the magic languages, the ring look very mystical when looked at.
'The ring is very beautiful to look at, the Wruya language from the south gives the ring the ability to get to 150% when compared to others…'
As stated Grey had to learn over a dozen different languages used to engrave magic rings so he could be well informed when it came to languages.
'Wait… Language…'
Grey quickly went back to his study and sat down and started to note down all the languages used to engrave rings, there was agency in his working.
'These are not enough, I will also add the languages used in programming from Earth.'
Grey also added together languages, like C++, Python, Java and many others he still remembered.
'If it is possible to get a single language from these bunch of languages that can make satisfied, then I believe all my troubles with space of magic rings and the issues of inefficiencies should be delt with.'
Grey immediately started working on creating his own language that he would use to engrave his rings, there was a light that shown in his eyes, which showed his determination and excitedness for the challenge in front of him.
Whilst Grey had just started to create his language, the conflict was heating up in the Edward's Crevasse in the Dralia mountain range. The casualties were still moderate, mages were now to be found during the fighting, and these fellows were dangerous especially when fighting regular troops.
Most of the casualties came from the regular troops, these people were either burned by fire, cut by high speed winds blades or have their bodies stabbed by multiple ice lances.
The mining camp in Edward's Crevasse had faced 1 large scale attack in the last month with multiple small attacks used to probe the camp, the young lieutenants were finally getting to understand war.
