Chapter 27 - Anger

"You're not a weak person," Lucette said with her hands trembling as she took the pen. She pressed it into the notebook, writing the first letter and then the second.

"Yes, like this. You will soar high and earn everyone's respect. You will do well," she cheered for herself and smiled.

She spent her time planning. After finishing, she eyed the clock. It was already midnight! No wonder she felt sleepy. Lucette yawned and stretched her hands, her eyes closed the moment her eyes touched her fluffy, pink pillow.

The following morning, Lucette looked for the beta to show him what she did. She went to the alpha's office and knocked on the door.

"Luna, got in," Jordan said, and she nodded.

Lucette stared at the room. It was where she met Orson for the first time when he was disputing with the king, catching her eavesdropping. Lucette scratched her cheek, thinking about the shameful memory.

The room was big. A big wooden desk on the right side, shelves for books. Two couches and chairs circling a rectangular table.

The decoration still lacked creativity. Why did it have to be arranged symmetrically? Maybe the alpha preferred this type of design.

Her gaze shifted to the beta. She was lost in her thoughts, forgetting the reason she came here.

"I finished planning for the festival. Look and see if I did it right." Lucette handed her notes to the beta, and she went to the desk and took a random file. Hearing a laughter, she turned around. "What's wrong?" she asked.

"Did you write this?" he asked and continued his laugh. "The letters resembled chicken's limbs."

Lucette tightened her grip over the file and stared at him. Then she threw the file in his direction. Being laughed at because of something she didn't consider her sore point, hurt her. The humiliation she felt made her remember her old self.

The beta winded his eyes. "I didn't mean to laugh…"

"I am your Luna, and you should respect me," she said, gripping her notes from him and storming out of the room.

Inside the room, Jordan froze in his spot. He was joking. There was no need to snap at him like that as if he did some unforgettable thing.

Looking at the scattered papers on the floor, he frowned. The contract's papers needed the alpha's signature to be messed up, he had to make a new one, or the alpha would reprimand him. Everyone was snapping at him as if he was some puppet to punch whenever they got angry.

Suddenly his phone vibrated. He read the message.

X- Is the plan ready?

Jordan gazed at his phone screen for a few seconds, and then he tapped on his phone.

He sat on the floor, leaning on the couch. He looked at the ceiling, his black eyes looked dim. He closed his eyes and fisted his hands.

'Claus,' he tried talking to his wolf but it didn't answer. His wolf was angry at him for sure.

He didn't know if he was doing the right thing.

Lucette closed the door with a loud bang locked it, and then sat on the bed, crossing her arms.

'How could he speak like that? I put so much effort into writing this.' Lucette sighed.

She made an unnecessary outburst at the beta, but he was at fault too. Laughing at her writing, but looking at it, she was indeed unskillful. Her handwriting resembled... Chicken legs! She thought of the beta's description.

Lucette laughed and decided to apologise to Jordan later. She grabbed the remote and turned on the TV. She chose a random film and watched it.

The heroine walked into a remote, dark house, and someone was behind her, but she didn't know, adding with the eerie background music. Lucette was focused on watching.

"Ah!" the knock on the door was when the heroine screamed. Lucette's heart jumped, looking at the door. She took a deep breath and walked to open the door, seeing Jordan with a cup in his hands.

"I come to say sorry," He apologized to her, scratching the pack off his neck.

Lucette lowered her gaze. "I'm the one who should say sorry to you. I…"

"No, no… I shouldn't have laughed at you from the start," he said.

Lucette pursed her lips, remembering how he laughed at her. Her inability to write was a sensitive and dramatic matter to her.

"Can we discuss the plans now?" he asked. "But without writing — I mean yes, we could," Jordan joked and Lucette glared at him. "I bought you coffee," he said, handing her the cup.

Lucette thanked him. After that, they talked about the planning for an hour.

"You did a wonderful job. If you have nothing else, I should take my leave," he praised her.

Lucette said, "No, that's it for the time being. Thank you for helping me."

Jordan smiled, then left the room. She grabbed the cup and drank the coffee. 'It's cold,' she sipped the rest while frowning.

Lucette continued watching the film. Minutes passed by, and she yawned many times, as she looked at the clock. It was still early for her bedtime.

Throughout watching the movie, she felt her eyelashes turn heavy and drifted to sleep.

Lucette's brain was hazy as if she was walking. Feeling herself swaying. She wanted to wake up but her body felt heavy.

The only thing she could hear was a buzzing sound in her ears.

After a long time, Her eyelashes trembled. She opened her eyes to see long trees swinging with the wind, the dim light of the crescent moon, and to smell the fresh dry wooden scent after the rain.

The scenery was quite familiar. She moved her body which solidified like a rock.

She darted her eyes on the surroundings, fragments of what happened when she was attacked by the giant wolf rushed into her brain.

It was the same where I met that wolf!

Panic grew inside of her as her heart pounded in her chest. Lucette's heavy body refused to move. 'How can I be here?' she thought, fighting the urge to lean on the tree.

She grabbed the tree's trunk and stood. Her legs wobbled. She tried to walk, but couldn't move her foot. 'What's going on?'

Her thoughts were interrupted by a shuffling sound. She looked around to see five silhouettes surrounding her.

"Look what we have here. A prey."
