Alex's eyes suddenly lit up. John immediately became alarmed.
"Oh no," John exclaimed inwardly.
"I have an idea!" Alex announced to Johns dismay.
'What could it be now?
God, please have mercy In this poor soul' John silently prayed.
Invisible sweats began to form on John's forehead.
"I'll need your help John," said Alex. John frowned in displeasure, he did not want to get caught in one of Alex's schemes.
"Please" Alex begged once he noticed John's unwillingness.
"No. Not this time." John answered firmly. Hade up his mind that no persuasion could make it through his defense.
Alex sighed, 'time to use the big guns' he thought.
" If you help I will increase your magic aptitude and you could have a week of your knight duties." Alex tried to convince John. He and John had been together seemed they were kids. He could still clearly remember the day he met John. It was a really fun day for Alex.
The five-year-old Alex sneakingly made it last the guards stationed at the palace's main gates. He had successfully passed by the guards unnoticed, doing the most insane stunts just to make sure he was not caught.
Unfortunately, one guard had seen Alex during his escape.
Alex made a run for it when he noticed that he had been noticed. He was not going to get caught. He did not want all his insane stunts to be useless. Hell no! He had to do the most embarrassing moves just to get out. He even had to wiggle like some sort of worm just to make sure that he would not be caught.
Alex continued to run until he bumped into someone.
"Ouch!" both Alex and the person he bumped into cried simultaneously.
"Sorry," Alex said and was about to dash away when the person he bumped into held his hand firmly, stopping him in his tracks.
Alex slowly turned to the boy he had bumped into a few minutes ago. Alex had a confused expression on his face.
"Prince Alexander, where are you going?" the older boy asked.
"To go get some apples," Alex stated. That was the main reason why he was out here. The servants of the palace did not buy the apples he liked. When the maids tasted the apples he liked and the ones he disliked, they claimed that the was no difference between the two.
The boy stared at his prince for a while before saying, "Do you know the way?"
Alex scratched his nape, "Nope." he answered.
"_"
John, which was the name of the older boy, became speechless. So the prince just ran out of the palace without aid and did not even know where he was heading?
"Shall I escort you, your highness?" John asked.
Alex readily accepted. He thought it was always better to have some allies.
So after Alex and John introduced themselves to each other, they went off to go get some apples. coincidentally, John was among the young knights that were choosing to become Prince Alexander's personal knight.
"No Alex. I'm not going to help you this time." John said, his voice still firm and
unmoving.
"What can go wrong?" said Alex. He needed John on his side for his plan to be successful.
John's eye immediately narrowed, hearing what Alex said."Do not use that path Alex. A lot can happen during the execution of these crazy plans that somehow manage to find their way into your head." said John. It had not been once or twice that one of Alex's insane ideas have gotten both of them in trouble, but several times.
To John, Alex could be a pain in the butt. Alex looked up to meet John's gaze. He needed John at his aid for his plan to be successfully executed.
"What troubles have my plan led us to?" asked Alex. To him, his plans always lead to trouble when they were poorly executed.
" We almost got lost in the forest, almost burning of the kitchen when you had those crazy ideas of yours to make warm ice cream....." John was made to stop listing the trouble Alex had caused during the execution of his plans when Alex spoke.
"How can you blame me on the ice cream idea. It wasn't my fault that the maids keep kerosene and oil in one place. Everything would have gone well if it was not for that little mishap." Alex retorted. Truth be told, Alex had used kerosene to grease the bowl instead of oil, making the food catch fire when a spark from the burning wood fell on it.
"Sigh! I don't know why I am even listening to you." John said and started to leave.
Seeing that a pawn in his master plan was coming to back out, Alex hurriedly blocked John's way.
"Get out of the way" demanded John, his voice calm and serene. Alex looked at John in the eye, trying to figure what he could says to convince this heartless person before him. Alexander's eyes brightened up making John curious.
'What could it be now?' thought John.
"What if I..." Alex began. Looking around to check if anyone was close enough to hear what he was about to say, Alex said, "What if I increase your magical aptitude for you."
John's eyes widened in shock, a royal could increase someone's magical aptitude without it causing much deference, but if a normal person like him attempted it, it would be bye-bye magic. John managed to recover from his shock and had that annoying calm expression of his. This time Alex was not too worried that John would refuse his generous offer. Like hell who would. People only receive rewards like this
when they do outstanding performances In their fields. Looking at John's calm expression, Alex could not help the chuckle that erupted from his lips because he knew that behind that calm expression, John was actually being conflicted on whether to accept or refuse this once in a lifetime opportunity.
