Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6 THE GIRL IN THE HOOD (PART 2)

How could someone be so beautiful? Alex regretted that she did not even have the time to aske her name he could only cause lady luck for not being on his side.

Lady luck:(-_-)

John turned around and frowned when he did saw Alex staring at the crowd like a dummy.

" Do you plan on standing there like a statue?" John asked. Alex snapped out of his daze. He looked at John with a grim expression on his face.

"Do you know her?"

"Who? that girl? No."

John reply earned a frown from Alex. Alex continued walking but his mind was wondering if he would ever see her again. John noticed that Alex wasn't buying any delicacy again so he pointed at old man Willie's bakery.

Alex looked in that direction and his eyes lit up like sparkling diamonds.

John who saw Alex's expression and felt his confidence rise to the highest level. How could food not work on Alex?

If only John knew that the main reason behind Alex's expression wasn't Iecause of food, but because of a white hairpin that had a sparkling green gem in the middle. It reminded him of the girl he just met.

John's confidence came crushing down as he watched Alex deviate from the path that led to the bakery. Alex headed forward the stall that had the hairpin he wanted to by.

Alex looked at the hairpin that was being displayed and thought that nothing could stop him from purchasing it. As Alex was about to take the hairpin, a man that looked to be in his early 40s, beat him to it.

"How much is this?" The man asked, showing the stall attendant the hair in Alrx intended to buy.

"It's 400 bronze coins, Sir." The stall attendant politely responded.

"I'll take it then" The man was about to take the coins from his pouch, but Alrx showed the man 600 bronze coins.

"I'll pay this amount for the hairpin" Alex snatched the hairpin from the man's hand.

The stall attendant was bewildered. He did not know what to do. Thinking of making the most of this opportunity, that man gently asked,"Are you willing to offer a higher price for the hairpin sir?"

What! That old saying,' Make hay while the sun shines.' wasn't made for no reason. In fact the stall attendant thought that it should be said, 'Make money while you have the opportunity.'

" I'll pay 900 bronze coins for it."

"1 silver coin for the hairpin."

The stall attendant felt delighted. Well, who could blame him? It wasn't everyday that one got the chance to make extra 600 bronze coins. He could already picture the wide grin that would make its way on his master's face.

Due to the commotion Alex and the man ha d created, a good number of people had started to gather around.

The shop owner who was managing a store that was just opposite the one he gave to his servant to look after, noticed the commotion that had began at one of his stalls, quickly walked over to see what was causing all the noise.

"20 silver coins" The man yelled he did not want to get defeated by some damn brat. How could he, a whole barron now down and accept defeat so easily? Never! He wouldn't take it lying down.

John looked at the person who dared argue with the prince. If only the man knew that he was currently arguing with some who had his face in printed on the money, he would have backed away a long time ago.

Seeing that things were getting out of hand, Alex decided to bring out the big guns.

"150 gold coins." Alex yelled. His words earned a gasp from everyone.

[ Everyone: (°0°). Stall owner and attendant:(^_^)]

Everyome was shocked by Alex's words. Now 150 gold coins was too much for a hairpin. The bailing system in Hansonia was simple.

1000 nickels made 1 bronze coin, 1000 bronze coins made 1 silver coin and 1000 silver coins made 1 gold coin. So 150 gold coin was equivalent to 150,000,000 bronze coins and that was 14,999,600 bronze coins higher that the original cost of 140 bronze coins.

The stall owner was ecstatic, With auch an amount, he could live decent live without lifting his finger to work. And what about his profession as a merchant? To hell with it!

Alex handed the pouch of gold coins to the trader, even adding a tip of the attendant. Alex took the hairpin and kept it I'm the safety of his pocket.

If anyone had any idea or thought of getting this hairpin from him, Alex had to words for that fool. 'DREAM ON!'

"Did you really have to cause so much attention on you now. I wouldn't be shocked if we get attacked on the way." John said to Alex. Now that Alex showed the world how much money he had on him, John started his out down,

1min 59...58...57...56....55

And as if the gods were actually usining John's count down, Alex and John saw several men with swords. The only difference here was that, Alex and John were not thee ones being attacked.

Alex's eye widened as he saw a hooded figure in the middle. It seemed the person was being attacked.

Alex eyes almost fell from their sockets as he notice who it was.

Finally I've found you. So it seems lady luck is still on my side. And why was Alex so happy? It was because it was her.

The girl in the hood.
