"Why, you! You think you can just look down on me because you're so rich, huh!?" The buzz-cut guy took a plate of spaghetti and meatballs and slammed it towards the other guy's face.
The blond guy just dodged expertly. He was even crossing both arms. He laughed heartily, his cruel laughter resonating at the peaceful cafeteria.
"If you're going to throw a plate at me, do it correctly." He took a half-eaten bowl from a female student. "Like this!"
The contents of the soup went directly to the guy, who retaliated by throwing a meat bun that flew to the direction of another male student. The male student got angry, threw his own food, and missed, aggravating another student. One after another, like a domino effect, everyone started throwing plates and bowls of food onto one another.
"Are you kidding me!?" Mo Aini pushed Gou Manchu's head down under the table. "Get down!"
"What's happening, Mo-gongzi?" Gou Manchu asked when Mo Aini crouched beside him under the table like they were soldiers on a battlefield.
"It's a food fight! Take cover!"
Mo Aini and Gou Manchu crawled under chairs and tables to avoid getting their clothes dirty from the food fight. The whole cafeteria went insane! Through the leadership of the tiger-jacket blond, they made a ruckus and threw plates at their enemies, former enemies, and friends that will soon become new enemies.
It was a disaster, and the one who started it all just sat above one of the tables like an evil emperor watching his subjects go into bloodshed.
Mo Aini was too busy ducking on tables with Gou Manchu to notice the arrow pointing at the blond troublemaker, along with three Chinese characters hanging over his head.
---------------
The two roommates luckily escaped unscathed, except for creasing their clothes and their hair was a mess. So far, nothing that could stain their clothes forever. Not that it matters in this otome world anyway, but survival instincts come before logic.
"Those people don't know what they're doing. Do you think they would get sent to the discipline office?" Gou Manchu asked him as he caught his breath by a tree.
"That's none of our concern anymore! We're innocent!" Mo Aini said. "I have to find Shu Chuanli. There's something important that we have to do."
"I'll join you, Mo-gongzi!" Gou Manchu happily offered.
"Eh!? No!" Mo Aini immediately protested, then tried to come up with an excuse. "You haven't eaten much, yes? You should buy some snacks on the vending machine instead."
"I'll be fine, Mo-gongzi." Gou Manchu said. "Thanks for worrying. Let's go find Shu Chuanli!"
"We can't!" He blocked the path.
"Why not?"
(Because he's currently going after your girl too!)
Mo Aini thought of something that will get Gou Manchu out of the way, and figured he might use his friendly loyalty against him. "I'm also really hungry too, can you buy a snack for me?"
Gou Manchu tilted his head to the side. "But you've just eaten."
"There's a new snack on the college dorms vending machine..... They're green tea flavored chips, I think!" Mo Aini made up. "I really want to try it, could you buy me some?"
He handed a wad of cash to Gou Manchu who took it still confused yet eager to help a friend out. "Ok! Anything for you, Mo-gongzi!"
He ran excitedly like a dog playing fetch with its owner, looking for non-existing green tea flavored chips.
Mo Aini sighed in relief and looked for Shu Chuanli in the hallway that they promised to meet. There was no one around so he kept looking everywhere and eventually bumped with someone in the gardens.
"Ow!" The person he bumped to yelled as he got to the ground.
Mo Aini offered a hand. "Sorry.... Shu Chuanli!? What are you doing here, you were supposed to meet with Mo Jiagei inside!"
"I did! I've met with her already." Shu Chuanli didn't take his hand and stood up on his own.
"What happened? Did you stick to the plan?" Mo Aini asked with much anticipation.
"Yes... Well, most of it." Shu Chuanli bit his lip, looking down. "She caught me."
"What!?"
"She caught me taking pictures of her and approached me!" Shu Chuanli said.
Mo Aini didn't know whether to laugh or cry. How clumsy is this guy to get caught so easily? "Tell me you at least acted mysteriously when she talked to you. You know, like a really cool yandere!"
"I...." Shu Chuanli scratched his head sheepishly. "Well, I accidentally pressed the record video button. You can see for yourself how well I responded."
He handed his phone to Mo Aini with the shaky video. Mo Aini turned up the volume and listened to the whole encounter.
"Why are you taking pictures of me? Who are you?" He heard his sister ask nervously.
Shu Chuanli took long to respond, then....
"W-Well, how are you so sure that it's you that I'm taking a picture of, huh!?" Shu Chuanli answered defensively. "You may be pretty but the scenery is pretty too! I'm taking pictures of the background, not you!"
"Let me see it then." Mo Jiagei said.
"N-No way! I don't even care who you are, I'm minding my own business here." Shu Chuanli looked away, blushing. "Stupid girl...."
Then he ran away.
Mo Aini wanted to slap his head with his palm. Again.
"That's tsundere behavior, not yandere!" Mo Aini cried. "You should have kept your cool and not blush like an idiot!"
"How can I when she's so pretty!?" Shu Chuanli covered his face with both hands. "I get so nervous and my heart flutters and I can't stop from lashing out to her even though I like her.... Why am I like this?"
"Aish, we lost our chance!" Mo Aini stomped angrily at a poor little flower.
A hologram screen appeared.
[Mo Jiagei's Impression of Shu Chuanli: 37%
Possibility of Route Being Chosen: Highly Unlikely
Cupid Points: 0
Please do better next time.]
"It's that damn tiger guy's fault!" Mo Aini shouted at the screen. "If there wasn't a food fight, I could have prevented this disaster earlier!"
"Mo-gongzi!" Gou Manchu was running towards them. "I bought the green tea chips!"
(The fuck, they actually exist!?) Mo Aini cursed to himself.
"Eep!" Shu Chuanli panicked and tried to run, but Gou Manchu had caught up to them.
"Hey, it's Shu Chuanli!" Gou Manchu wrapped his arm around the two otaku nerds' shoulders. "It's good that you're here! We could share the chips to ourselves!"
"N-No, thank you...." Shu Chuanli was shaking so nervously that Mo Aini thought he would fall over any minute now.
"Green tea chips... Does it even taste good?" Mo Aini thought and checked the bag of chips.
"Yeah, I tried some and it's good! Possibly healthier than other chips too!" Gou Manchu said. "I'll tell my teammates to try it out as an alternative snack for carbs."
"I need to go to my class now...." Shu Chuanli shrugged Gou Manchu's arm away, not meeting his eyes.
Suddenly, a voice came to the intercom speakers.
"Good afternoon, this is She Haoran speaking. For those who do not know, I was the former school president from last year's batch and stands as a temporary student council head until the next elections."
She Haoran's voice was smooth like honey, and he has a very calm way of speaking. He spoke like a good-natured president that's amicable to everyone.
"We have received a report of a mass riot in the cafeteria just now. To investigate the matter, we ask all the senior students to line up at the student council office to be spoken to one by one by yours truly."
Mo Aini frowned. "An interrogation for the whole senior year students? There's a lot of us who are not involved."
She Haoran seemed to have guessed his thoughts. "Please do not think of this as an interrogation, but a short interview on what you witnessed. This is to find out who is responsible for the incident and give them the right penalty for their actions. Thank you for your cooperation."
The speakers went out with a beep, and the senior students in the hallway complained and grumbled.
"We weren't even at the cafeteria that time, anyway!"
"Yeah, why does everyone have to line up at the student council office?"
"At least we won't have classes this afternoon. I'm so tired of school, I still want to be on vacation!"
Despite their divided opinions, a majority of the students of Nushen High followed the rules and started heading to the student council office.
"I told you they will be disciplined, Mo-gongzi." Gou Manchu said. "Let's stick together in the line so we wouldn't lose each other."
"Then I'll go front since I'm the smallest!" Shu Chuanli took this as an opportunity to move away from Gou Manchu. "A-And Mo-kun should be in the middle and you at the back!"
"Ok, that makes sense because of our heights." Gou Manchu didn't put much thought into it.
Mo Aini noticed how strangely nervous Shu Chuanli has been acting with Gou Manchu since the start. Is he really just that intimidated with the buff guy? How could he with those adorable eyes!?
"Shu Chuanli, do you have a problem with Gou Manchu?" Mo Aini whispered to him as they joined the other students to form a straight line.
Shu Chuanli shook his head, his Adam's apple bobbing. "N-No, I've just met him...."
"Then why do you try to avoid him so much?" Mo Aini asked.
Shu Chuanli went quiet, then sighed. "It's because...."
"Whoah, isn't that the new goddess that transferred to the school!?" A very loud guy with a copy-paste mob character appearance yelled from the back of the line.
All the guys in the line tried to look for Mo Jiagei. Mo Aini spotted her from a few meters back, still having that glowing halo effect around her shiny ponytail.
(What's so good about her!?) Mo Aini said in his head, believing that all the men in this school are stupid.
Eventually, it was Shu Chuanli's turn to be interrogated by the student council president. He calmly entered the room....
And then passed out when he left!
"Oh, my! Someone bring him to the clinic!" The secretary said.
"I'll do it!" Gou Manchu readily volunteered, and carried the unconscious Shu Chuanli bridal style.
Through this commotion, Mo Aini overheard a conversation between the student council president and the vice president.
