Chapter 32 - Pure Blooded

Aisrin stood before the receptionist at the main guild without his mask, receiving looks of surprise and astonishment.

"Are you really Sin? Like actually?" The receptionist asked.

"Yeah." Aisrin replied for the third time.

"Uhm, sorry, I'm just surprised to see you without a mask, I thought you were hiding your face due to being horribly disfigured." The receptionist stated bluntly.

"No, just cursed or something." Aisrin answered half assedly.

"I see. So you just look like a pure blood demon?" The receptionist tried to confirm.

"No, I am one now." Aisrin answered bluntly.

"Hah? What kind of curse turns you into a pure blooded demon?" The receptionist asked in surprise.

"If I knew, I'd say." Aisrin responded impatiently.

"I see. Ahem. So, since you've completed five quests, you now have the privilege of choosing your own style of Adventurer. Of course, your cards won't change, but you can submit your choices to the guild, and we will mark it down on your official files." The receptionist placed 4 cards on the counter all were blue and black with the Nights Dawn insignia. The letter I was present next to the Insignia.

"You can put mine down now." Aisrin responded as he took the cards.

"Of course, what did you choose? What kind of Explorer?" The receptionist was all professional.

"Jester." Aisrin answered firmly. The receptionist stared at Aisrin, a professional smile plastered on her face.

"Eh?" Her face dropped into disdain.

"Jester. Thanks. See you again." Aisrin turned and left the disdainful receptionist and exited the guild.

"What's next?" Aisrin pondered aloud. Outside, waiting, were the three girls of his party. He handed them each their cards. Verenia grabbed his hand and pulled him close and stared into his eyes, a look of concern apparent on her face.

"Yeah?" Aisrin asked her.

"You have the aura of a Demon Lord." She answered after she let him go.

"Demon Lord?" Aisrin questioned.

"Yes. A being above Demon Aristocrats, but below Kings. It's called the Demon Heirarchy. Put simply, you've entered the top ten most powerful beings in Ruen." Verenia stated.

"My level is only like six thousand something." Aisrin muttered.

"Make that top six." Verenia corrected after hearing him.

"So there's only like five people above me?" Aisrin looked at her in excitement.

"Well, I guess in Ruen, yes. In Mortas, there might be around three. Elsewhere, I'm not too sure, but I'm certain in the whole of Elrim, you must be within the top hundred." Verenia seemed to ponder the amount of people with high levels as she spoke.

"Ah, well, that works." Aisrin shrugged, accepting that he wasn't omnipotent, yet.

"You seem dejected?" Regina pointed out.

"No one aims to be number one?" Aisrin asked her.

"Well, I wouldn't say that..." Regina mumbled.

'I know how to become number one, it just feels like cheating.'

"Shall we find a quest to do?" Syphir finally spoke.

'Has her voice always sounded that... attractive?'

(No.)

'It didn't require a response from you.'

(Tch!)

"Sounds good to me... but can we go way out into the plains first? There's something I want to do." Aisrin asked.

*Plains of Fargas, a few miles from Fargo*

Aisrin stood staring at the sky.

'I want to test my magic out. Hmm...'

Aisrin lifted his hand up and looked down,, staring at his palm. He began to accumulate his massive mana pool into the center of his palm.

The ground below him began to shake followed by a slight breeze that lightly kicked up dust. His mana slowly ticked down in digits by the tens.

'Not enough!'

He began pouring mana, now up to his shoulder in concentration. The ground cracked and the vegetation around him in a five foot diameter was blown away down to the dirt. The slight breeze became a gust that made the grass sway a ten foot diameter further. His mana dropped a bit quicker, consuming the hundreds.

'More!'

His mana consumed thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands, once he was left with only half of his mana, did he feel satisfied. The clearing of vegetation reached a twenty yard diameter, the wind became torrential, clouds began to swirl above him, and the girls ran far out of the effects.

Aisrin pointed his hand to the sky, settling on a simple spell.

"Thunderbolt!" A single charge of lightning shot from his palm, but it's size was anything but small. It lit up the area with the brightness of ten suns, the ground scorched in a ten yard diameter and the metallic smell and taste of ozone filled the air.

The bolt raced through the sky, piercing the clouds and heavens. As soon as it had ended, a clearing in the sky, several miles wide, could be seen, revealing the night sky in a clarity never before seen.

From Fargo, one could only shiver in absolute fear at the sight of the lightning. Aisrin, on the other hand, felt only exhilaration.

"Are you practicing to destroy a city... no a country!?" Verenia ran up to Aisrin and smacked him upside the back of his head. Aisrin looked at her, a huge grin on his face.

"You think I could?" Aisrin happily asked. Verenia paled and backed away.

"You could take over a continent." Verenia shakily replied. Aisrins grin dropped.

"Hey, it's a joke! I just needed to see my capabilities. I need to make sure I know my limits." Aisrin smiled as he put his hand on her head and lightly pat it. Verenia looked at him, fear in her eyes. Aisrin briefly grimaced.

'Ouch, that kinda hurts.'

(Such a player.)

'Butt out.'

"Are you sure? Sin-San, do you have a past I should know about?" Verenia asked him.

'Oh yeah, she doesn't know... but how can I tell her I'm the main reason for her peoples persecution?'

"Verenia... I... I'll tell you when I'm ready." Aisrin answered as he abruptly turn away, to avoid showing her the look of contempt he held for himself for being cowardly. Verenia noticed the clenching of his fists.

"I look forward to when you do, Sin-San. My opinion of you won't change, you'll always be the same Sin-san I've always known." Verenia put a smile on her face and hugged him from behind.

(A month amounts to Always?)

'As an object that only recently gained sentience, I suggest you fuck off for a moment.'

"Thanks Verenia. Now, how about we go back and get rid of these patches yeah?" Aisrin began walking away. The clearing that once was rife with vegetation, was now a burned out circle of devastation spanning several tens of yards.

*Fargo at the same time.*

Thomas had just arrived in the city and was looking around for traces of this Sin character. He had just witnessed the pillar of lightning magic, that chilled his bones to the marrow. His only hope, was that it wasn't the person he was looking for.

"Miriam, I think you may want to reconsider." Thomas shakily walked through the streets as he muttered that sentence.
