Chapter 21 - Troubles Too Soon

Aisrin woke up in a bed, feeling like shit. He had pain in his neck, his muscles were sore, and his thoughts were fuzzy.

"Uhm, I'm terribly sorry for what happened yesterday." Someone stated from the left side of the bed.

Aisrin turned his head slowly to look at the person, only to find himself staring at the Vampyre Dwarf chick.

"You need a better hold on your fuckin urges." Aisrin replied in irritation.

"I know. Hah, I've just been deprived of interaction for so long, I lost my control. I've been hiding here for awhile now, from the Red Masks." She sighed.

"Okay, what's that and who are you again?" Aisrin asked as he sat up and rubbed his sore neck.

"I'm Regina. The Red Masks? They're the Group responsible for the mass extermination of our kind. They've been demanding Fargas to join the cause recently. Since all Half Breed Demons who fled in time ended up fleeing here, the only safe Kingdom out of all the Continents." Regina explained.

"Why didn't they go to Ruen?" Aisrin continued to ask.

"Rumor has it, that in order to prevent war, they massacred their own Half-Breed population and presented mountains of their corpses to the border as an offering of understanding and peace." Regina answered.

"When did this shit start happening?" Aisrin muttered angrily.

"About a month after... well,, your incident." Regina replied.

"A lot of shit happened right after that fucking day. I swear I'll make the bitch suffer a thousand times over. Her cunt father too. If she had a mother.... I'd toss her ass naked in the streets." Aisrin muttered furiously.

"I was gonna mention earlier, but you seem to harbor massive hatred within you. Why is that?" Regina inquired.

"I was betrayed... are you fucking with me? Hah, since my questions have been answered. I must be going." Aisrin stated with a sigh as he stood up and gathered his belongings.

"So soon? Where are you going? Can can I go with?" Regina bombarded Aisrin with questions.

"I'd really rather you not get involved. My mission is revenge, and it's not on a small scale... Well, I mean you should know, since you know who I am." Aisrin declined.

"Tch, you're no fun! Yeah, I understand, I know your story, bit I just wanted to hear it from you." Regina crossed her arms and pouted.

"You wanna know the real story? Fine. My party was ambushed by Imperials under the orders of the Princess of Bloodrend. She had her brother murdered so she could directly ascend the throne. Then, my remaining members were brainwashed into believing I was the perp who killed James. Then, for six years I lived as a slave. Now I'm here, after finding out about my family's murder, my hatred is unfathomable, and my thirst for royal blood unquenchable. That's the run down version." Aisrin told Regina.

"I knew it! This is a just some sort of vendetta of Mortas against Ruen!" Regina boldly claimed.

"Whatever floats your boat." Aisrin commented and began heading for the door.

"You must take me with you!" Regina pleaded.

"And why would I trouble myself with you?" Aisrin retorted. He continued for the door, unhesitatingly.

"I know where the Heaven's Blade is!" Regina continued to plead.

"That's nice. I don't even know what that is, nor do I care." Aisrin dismissed. He opened the door and went to step out.

"It comes with the Twin Daggers of Hell and Purgatory." Regina prodded some more, in hopes that Aisrin would stop. It worked. His interest piqued. He turned around, shut the door, and stood in front of Regina.

"Do go on." Aisrin encouraged.

"Ah, uh, well the Heaven's Blade is rumored to be the First Blade, forged by Blodenhiem himself, and sent down to the Dwarvenfolk. It was his blessing upon us, and thus we received exquisite craftsmanship skills. A city was built around the Blade, and was named City of the Heavens. The Twin Daggers, on the other hand, are more like curses rather than blessings. Along with the Heaven's Blade, fell two shards of Devine Mythril. My ancestors had no way to process or refine the material, and the shards were already unequivocally sharp, so they fastened hilts to the shards.

The lore speaks that when the Master Dwarves set the daggers next to the Blade, it angered Blodenhiem immensely and he opened a rift in which two powerful black and white dragons emerged, and began to devastate the land. The dragons rampaged for two centuries before the Dwarven Masters' descendants would finally succeed in seeing the dragons inside the very Daggers that started the downfall of the ancient city of the dwarves.

Thus they were named Hell and Purgatory." Regina explained in detail.

'There are similarities between earth and here after all.'

Aisrin was about to say something when the sound of doors being broken down, screams following shortly after, caused Regina too grab Aisrin and drag him to the back room, where a back door was located.

"Red Mask Raid! Happens in every town I've been in! We have to leave!" Regina panicked. Aisrin shook his head and sighed.

'It's too early for this shit.'

Aisrin kicked the door, that Regina was struggling to open, with a resounding crash as the door exploded outwards into the ally. Crates, bins, stone, and general debris that had been piled in front of the door, now littered the ally way, dust and dirt had clouded around in a sort of smoke screen.

Aisrin grabbed Regina and lifted her up bridal style.

"Hey! Wait a second!" Regina began to protest.

"Sorry, but it'd be faster this way." Aisrin tensed his lower body, slightly crouched and leaned a tad forward before lunging explosively, the dust cleared behind them as if gale winds had blown through. Red masked soldiers had just stepped into the alley, the wind forcing them to brace against it.

Aisrin jumped upto the roof tops and outran the Red Masks with ease, finally leaping over the city walls and into dense forest.

*Inside the city.*

One of the Red Masks stood in the Alley behind Regina's shop, and slowly lifted the mask revealing first, her malicious grin.

"Welcome back... Sir Hero." Mina laughed as she took the mask completely off. Her face twisted in tainted glee.
