Jay walked down the steps of the apartment building as his cell phone vibrated again, causing him to pause for a moment and take it out of his pocket before he started walking more slowly again.

Jay bit the inside of his cheek, feeling a little guilty for a moment about lying to Sophia, but he had to go meet Aria and he didn't know how to explain that to her.
He put his phone back in its place once he reached the front of his car and opened the door, stepping in and starting the engine, not having noticed Sophia standing a few feet away as she was on her way back from school and texting him before she even got home.
She suddenly clutched her phone in her hand, realizing that he had just lied to her without any apparent reason.
