Jamie was ready to explain to his friend however his phone started buzzing suddenly and once he realized that someone was calling him, he excused himself to go and answer his call, leaving Sophia and Jay alone.
"Did you like it?" Sophia turned and met his eyes after his question putting at a pause her thoughts of someone having cursed her since there was no other explanation for how her luck had been these past few days.
"I don't think that should concern you." She looked him straight in the eyes showcasing her displeasure towards his question.
"I know, Shiro should be the one that should be concerned if you liked someones else kiss or not, but for some reason, I care too," Jay didn't shy away from her gaze and instead took a step closer to her.
"For your good, I hope you stop caring then, cause we belong in the past." Sophia confidently spitted back however Jay didn't seem faced as he just smirked before speaking again.
"Let's see for how long we will be capable of keeping each other on the past. After all, you know well that what connects us is quite strong. For how long will you be running away from me, babe?"
Jay's audacity shook Sophia's world, for he had referred to her in a way that he had no right to no more. The small little world circled around her head, making her irritated enough to push him before she took off on her own towards the direction of her apartment building that was now only one block away.
Memories started playing like a movie in front of her eyes as she sped up her steps, in an attempt to run away from him as quickly as she could but the more steps afar she got the more her mind became her enemy, bringing to her back not only memories of him calling her with that endearment but also the feeling that it used to awaken in her. Feelings she shouldn't remember any longer, yet here she was, feeling imprisoned once again to the past which she wanted to keep a secret.
A past that held beautiful memories but also bitter and painful ones for she should have never been so naive and trust in anyone as much as she had. Never again she was to make that same mistake, she kept saying to herself, reminding her inner voice that all those sweet moments that it presented in her mind, were nothing but mare lies at the very end.
The battle in her head accompanied her till she reached home and barged inside her apartment, only to start screaming like crazy once inside, safe from the eyes of any stranger that could possibly judge her for her destressed action.
"Girls~~Help~~!!"She shouted with all her chest making Lisa hurry out of her room once she heard her and looked at her from head to toe, worried if she was hurt somewhere.
"Can you tell me why everything must happen to me?! Do I deserve something like this?!" Sophia whined while she jumped on the couch in frustration then just started throwing her body around till she ended up rolling right and left on the ground.
"O-kay... If you don't tell me what happened, how am I supposed to know who should I beat up for making you like this." Lisa nonchalantly told her, since such a behaviour wasn't unnatural for them.
"Jamie kissed me!" Sophia told her and Lisa's mouth hung open in surprise.
"What the heck.?! There must be something in their water that turns them into kissing monsters!" Lisa exclaimed, remembering her kiss with Shiro earlier. A memory that made her want to vomit all of a sudden.
"Why? Who else kissed who?" Sophia halted her fit and gave her a confused gaze, while Lisa immediately understood that she shouldn't have let those words escape from her mouth.
"Eh?! Ah, no, nothing. I was watching a movie earlier.." She responded trying to look convincing.
"Hello! Would you focus on my problem, please! What movies are you talking about?!" Sophia yelled at her since her nerves were in a bad condition.
"Okay sorry, Chillout. Go on, tell me. I am all ears." Lisa took a seat next to her on the floor and she collected herself as quickly as she could then started telling her the events that happened earlier.
"Daaaamn!! Why did I have to miss such a sight? What a pity." That was all Lisa replied with, making Sophia want to just grab her by the neck and struggle her to death.
"And then? What did Jay say after he saw you two?" Lisa's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm as the tea sure was interesting and it felt way better than watching an actual movie.
"I'm not telling you anything else because you are getting on my nerves! Why do you have to make everything comical?! This is not funny. When are you gonna get serious?!" Sophia's words made Lisa's face fall, and even though she knew that Sophia didn't really mean those words, her memories couldn't help but make her doubtful and sad.
" Come on, what's with that face? I was joking. "Sophia took hold of her hand once she noticed her mood that changed drastically.
" Forget it. If I was serious you wouldn't like it. Believe me. "Lisa responded and for a moment Sophia wondered why was it that her friend was having these mood swings all of a sudden.
The front door opened and interrupted the two, Dimitra making her entrance with a wide smile on her face and a white plushie bear on her embrace.
" At least one of us looks like had a good time," Lisa wiggled her eyebrows towards Dimitra and they both gave her some suggestive looks.
"I sure had a wonderful time but why are you two like Casper the ghost?" Dimitra giggled while looking at her friends laying lazily all over the floor, looking like they were half dead.
"Sophia let me explain since I like adding some spicy sauce," Lisa took the opportunity to speak with a smile on her face that made Sophia understand that she was gonna make what she told her sound way more dramatic than it actually was.
"Ohhh, and now what? It's all over for you if he tells Shiro, you know?" Dimitra exclaimed, panic visible in her voice as if it had to do with her.
"Oh come on. Jamie will explain to him so there is nothing to worry about." Lisa added now standing from the floor and seating on the couch, making herself even more comfortable as she no more found the situation worth her worry.
"How can I not worry? I feel bad about it. I left another guy to kiss me. Not to mention that I am keeping the fact that Jay was my ex a secret from him. I have messed up." Sophia left a sigh to escape her lips and Dimitra wrapped her arms around her giving her a comforting hug.
"Don't feel bad. No one is clean in this world. Who knows, he might be having secrets too." Lisa couldn't hold her tongue from commenting and as Dimitra and Sophia gave her a wondering look she just got up and headed back to her room.
---time skip the next evening ---
"What took you so long?" Lisa smacked the back of Joel's neck, clearly pissed at her best friend, that had just gotten out of his car and walked towards the bench where she was waiting for him for over an hour now.
"We haven't seen each other for a whole month and that's how you welcome me?" Joel rubbed the spot with a smile on his face as he took a seat next to her.
"You are right. I should kick your ass instead since you didn't even bother to make a simple call for the whole month." She gave him a stern look as she hit him lightly on his arm making him giggle at the aggressive actions that were so like her.
"You are all complaints. You know that I barely had time to keep in contact with my ladybug." Joel referred to his girlfriend Dimitra by that nickname and Lisa couldn't help but crack up briefly at the word that was as sweet as it was funny.
"Whatever. Since I am a good person I will let you off today." She told him, hitting him again, this time on his back and he gave her a gaze that pretty much doubted her words, especially the "good person" part.
"That's my sour girl." He addressed her with a smile while hugging her from the side and shaking her a little bit to annoy her because all they did was annoy each other mostly. That was what their friendship consisted of, mean remarks, shady mean comments and playful hitting.
"I have a question for you," Lisa smacked his hand away then spoke, getting directly to the point since it was already late at night and she didn't want to keep him long, out in the cold.
"Did something happen?" He asked now serious as well as a little worried.
"No, it's just... Let's make a supposition, okay? Let's say that you had a friend whom you totally trust but you happen to find out that your friend has been keeping a secret from you and was lying to you... Do you believe that your friend could win your trust again if she or he tried really hard? "Finally she gathered her courage to speak of those words that were not just a mare hypothesis as she presented them but it was something that had been bugging and making her fearful for a long time then she waited to hear his response.
Joel fell quiet for a while, thinking seriously about his answer as he assumed that she didn't want an irresponsible response.
" I don't think that I would trust him/her ever again. Simply because no one can assure me that she or he won't lie to me again, so I believe that if you happen to lose someone's trust once, there is no going back." Joel spoke his mind, making Lisa's heart take a dive into a sea of sadness, understanding that once her past will be revealed, she will lose him and their friendship will be over along with everyone else.
" Right, that's what I thought too. That girl in the movie was pretty naive and stupid to think otherwise." She purposely made u an excuse for her to have come up with this scenario, to begin with only to make Joel think that all this conversation was caused by a movie and that had nothing to do with her nor real-life events.
" What?! Are you serious?! You called me all the way here to ask me about a movie?! I am leaving. "Joel rolled his eyes at her and stood up to leave, his feet coming to a halt though as he felt Lisa's arms getting wrapped around his shoulders.
He shook his head slightly at her actions then turned around and smiled at her in an attempt to treasure her that he wasn't mad at her, he knew her after all. The time she was sane was too little to be surprised by her absurdity.
"For real, I have to go, don't worry I am not mad at you. I know that you are crazy after all." Joel commented after he had placed a gentle kiss on her forehead and Lisa felt like crying at that moment because she had hugged him as a symbol of the last goodbye since now she knows that he is not going to be her best friend for long.
She watched him walk away towards his car and slowly vanishing from her sight and all she could think was that just like him Dimitra and Sophia will walk away too once they knew. How that made her wish she could hide and keep everything a secret forever and she was planning to do so if it wasn't for Shiro appearing in her life again. With him around, however, she was aware that it was impossible for her to do so for he for sure was gonna stand in her way.
"Except from a snake, you have started now stealing men from other girls I see. Congratulations. Great progress." Lisa's face became serious at once as she recognized the voice that talked to her from behind her back, without having the need to turn around.
" What are you implying with that? "She retorted, somehow uninterested to hear any words from him for she did not care if he had misunderstood her relationship with Joel. They have been friends for years and she was aware that they both had sibling-like feelings for each other.
" I was just trying to avoid calling you a whore but it seems you don't get it if you don't hear it boldly. "Her hand acted on its own after those words rolled out of his lips and she ended up attempting to slap him, with rage flashing in her orbs.
" What? Is it a lie? I met that guy with Dimitra yesterday and she introduced him to me as her boyfriend. Anyways, I should take back what I called you earlier. I think bitch is more fitting for your character." Shiro left the corner of his lips tag upwards a bit, as he was giving her a death stare. His grip on her hand that had tried to slap him getting tighter.
" I don't care what opinion you have for me. I don't give a fuck. However, you sure have guts, coming here and playing it all innocent." She tried to pull her hand away from his grip but failed to succeed as the difference in physical power between the two was grand.
" Seriously, you are the worst being I have encounter in my life but don't worry. Soon I will get you out of my life in which like a snake you sneaked in again and obviously out of my girlfriend's life as well." Shiro abruptly let go of her wrist, resulting in Lisa falling to the ground as she lost her balance.
She looked up at him completely furious at his action but once their eyes met, she could tell that he was not joking. He hated her and was going to destroy her with all his might.
" Prepare yourself!! "
