Chapter 1 - The scout.

Drifting along the stars of a distant galaxy, littered with planets and moons, a sole vessel coasts around a vivid body of rose and teal. The rotating tori on the craft turning in the void of space, the faint light of thrusters glare as a smaller object slowly makes it's way from one side to the other. A drone from the celestial body returned, and as it settles within its charging cell, faint guitar is heard.plucking away a melody that has been forgotten.

"Even after all these years and you still play that ragged old thing?"

A heavily built man of almost seven feet tall with dark skin covered in scars, sporting a goatee and golden locks, cackles at the shorter man, both in fatigues of what seem to be of a uniform, engraved in the arm's weaving, the embroidery of a dragon's head.

"Of course, despite where we live and how absurd it all seems, you have to enjoy the older things to truly know where we came from"

"Right...very deep stuff there huh...you remember earth?"

The young man put down the guitar and sighed, peering into the grated depth of the ship. he remained silent. The standing man sighed and muttered a quick apology under his breath before chucking a ration at him. He flinched as it slapped his face, turning to the towering male he puffed his cheeks slightly.

The ragged man bellowed as his hand slammed down onto the back of his stoic friend, however with cutting himself of with a little 'oh', he pulled out a small chip and passed it over.

"This is for you, apparently the higher ups specifically requested you to examine the chip and it's contents, once you're done report to HQ via the prism. That's all I was told. Now...I'm off to the bar, need me a few rounds of poker and a drink or ten!"

With another slap on the smaller man's back he bellowed his signature laugh while exiting the room. Upon that the ragged man had left.

Now he was alone, he inserted the chip into his call-card. A device which acted like a multipurpose type object, varying from communication, gaming, access to areas and so forth, with a tiny beacon and blade even.

A little blip gently echoed in the room as lines of code project up and text begins to form, along with a female, speaking, short dark hair, donning a black and white uniform with the dragon head insignia badged onto the lapel.

"Confirm that your ID matches."

"ID: oh eight, oh nine, twenty seven."

After a few seconds a small beep played, showing the commander of the branch, a woman of blonde hair, clad in white and gold with a pink lipstick and her hair in a bun, her bright green eyes glowed on the screen, her voice smooth and assertive, the young male could clearly see why she was chosen to lead the branch. She presses a button on her end, which in turn flashed a small pop up on his, requesting to switch to a more private channel.

'A private channel On a private channel?...what is this...inception?'

After clicking yes a projection beamed from the device into the room, her entire body to show, and boy, he could see why they call her the goddess of love and war. Her name is commander Avalencia Karanos.

"We have received a disturbing report from the planet you currently orbit, it seems of a spatial differentiation rift..."

The man sucked in air involuntarily, his lips quivered a bit before regaining focus, speaking out,his voice deep and could soothe a worried soul, his stubble brushed against one another as he spoke calmly to the commander.

"Hmm...I see why you chose me to handle this...where is this signal located?"

The woman simply nodded, bowing slightly.

"Please investigate."

Muttering a quick "but where?" He simply dropped it.

Sighing, the man simply agreed and started getting prepared for the long trip. Several minutes passed by and his call-card blipped once again, the familiar tone of the mission debriefing. Another day, another annoying mystery…why was it a private channel…on a private channel?!

As the day draws closer to ending, and the man strolled past a slew of people, all preparing ships, checking equipment and the like, heads turned as he passed by, most murmured about the rumours. But none of that mattered as he swiped his call-card over a panel next to a ship. However a small siren blared as he turned his head to see a new ship landing in the bay. Popping through the air lock layered barriers, it swiftly landed and doors opened, stunning everyone as two figures emerged from the craft, blonde hair, black hair, the now paused man still grasping his card, flinched as it seemed to add up in his mind, like hamsters on a wheel, spinning away as they slowly made their way over to him. That can't be right…they called him several hours earlier, no way they would jump that massive distance…unless…

"Greetings, I must say that the prism doesn't do your looks justice sir."

The blonde haired one complimented the flabbergasted male. Smiling at him softly while placing a hand on her hip. Her outfit was different. A slick uniform similar to that of the latex like material with pentagonal etching, white on the outside while gold lined the pattern, hinted with black bracers and ankle straps. Her buxom hips seemingly larger than in the prism call. Her cleavage bursting out between the small gap in her suit. You could hear some men and women spit out drinks or choke on food as they saw.

"Let me reintroduce myself to you scout. I am Avalencia karanos. This here is my assistant and attendant, Sacha Herma."

"Hello there."

Muttering a quick joke under his breath he saluted casually and sighed again, simply turning around and boarding his own ship, a small craft of rugged design, slick coned like front of a flattened shape which sprawls out to a boxier shape at the back, two wings of similar shape on each side as it could house up to four people, it was quite spacious inside, with white surrounding the walls and a nice clean table in the room, to the cockpit four seats, two on the front, two on the sides, a typical layout for such a small craft, the man's blue and grey uniform contrasted nicely with the sterile interior. Simply slouching in the pilot seat he flicked dozens of switches on the board while the two women awkwardly meandered aboard. Sacha quietly scoffed at the bleak and cheap looking interior. After all this was one of the outskirts stations, not much goes on, that is not much exploration since it borders debris fields and nebula clouds, too dangerous to venture into.

"H-hold on! I demand a name, I cannot keep calling you scout, or man, or…or dude or whatever!"

Avalencia cried out as she stormed up to the silent pilot. Swivelling around in the seat he looks up at her with cold, steel eyes, a shiver rushes down her spine as those eyes peered into her soul. And when he spoke it sent another shiver, sure Avalencia has known his name since his recommendation for the mission. But she wanted him to introduce, it was only basic comradeship skills. This mission would take an unpredictable amount of time to finish and so it's best if they got along. But those eyes, that stare, something told her that this mission not only meant more to him, but also that no matter how strong she could be, something told her that this man, this, pressure, is hiding something.

"Silver."

Both women were left confused, with an audible 'huh?' He sighed and turned the engines on and closing the door.

"Silver, my name is Silver."

"No…last name?"

Sacha asked as she settled into the communications seat. Her outfit similar except grey and gold, same design, though her smaller stature sunk into the chair quite a bit, only having to use the pump to push the chair higher a tad.

"That name is something lost."

"Well that explains the loss of it on your dossier at HQ."

"So why did you jump 140 light years to join me on this mission?"

"Because my father, the director-general, specifically requested I'd go along, though I don't see why."

The scout, now known as Silver, shrugged and cruised the ship out of the bay and on a descent profile down the surface of the celestial body of the target location.

Planet Xuelent.
