Jeannie gazed down at the metropolis below that they would be soon leaving behind. Even though she would have loved to enjoy her first ever ride in a helicopter, she was nervous! She tried to remember the many laws of physics that she knew kept the noisy machine in the air, but the science was not helping her. The plush seat that she was strapped into felt like there were thorns under her! This is not how she had planned to start the date from hell!
She was supposed to be the "she devil" and not the maiden in distress! After carefully going through her extensive wardrobe of ten outfits, she had chosen her 'designer' washed up jeans and a comfortable top. With no make up and a big pair of chunky spectacles, she was ready to go. She had actually planned to dress even more freakily so that the Prince would regret forcing her, but then James had reminded her that the Press would also be there for certain parts of the date! What a nuisance! Which idiot had proposed such a silly idea of inviting the press for the auction dates she had finally questioned James in irritation. Only to realize that the idiot in question it had been her.
As her nails dug into her palms, she heard the prince's voice through the head set. He was actually trying to be courteous to her as if he had not threatened her just the night before! "Why are you nervous? Both my pilots are well trained and experts! I have them even more highly trained after a couple of my ministers lost their lives in a crash last year."
She turned her head and glared at the man! She should have known that he would not be so kind! Instead of trying to comfort her, he was actually laughing at her and trying to scare her more.
Christopher Sparks stared at the girl in amusement as she closed her eyes and sat stiffly like a board. If his son were to see her now, he would definitely comment that she was going to shoot out laser beams any moment out of her pretty eyes.
Thinking of his son, sobered him up and reminded him of the reason why he had to bow to the Queen. The old woman knew that he had no interest in marrying and yet, she was insistent on him marrying off this woman for the sake of her selfish interests.
Christopher could not understand this paradoxical woman at all. From her success and the reputation she had earned she should be someone who was almost sexless! But even under all this shapeless clothes she was wearing, he could make a hint of her beautiful figure. She was beautiful like a rose and just as thorny. Since threats had not worked and neither had the business like proposition, Christopher had finally decided to go the traditional route and woo her.
At the very least, she would be softened by his approach. But that too seemed to be misfiring. For his 'date', he had taken a bunch of yellow roses for her, only to have her almost smash his face in the door, after which she had returned with a mask and informed him that she was allergic to flowers! And thus they had received a place in the bin.
He had then planned to show her the beautiful coastline of his Othon from an aerial view. But she seemed to be terrified of flying. He was almost tempted to ask if she was allergic to sea food. After all, the oysters and king crabs were the main temptations of their country. But asking her would involve engaging in conversation which was not something that he wanted to do willingly.. He should simply ask his people to prepare an EpiPen just in case.
As the helicopter slowly descended, he could here her almost chanting to some deity to save her! At least it was better than the threats of killing him, she had been muttering when they had taken off.
Once the blades stopped, he jumped out of the helicopter and turned his back to the press that was gathered there. Extending his hand to help her down, he was shocked when she actually clutched his hand and jumped off. Her hands were actually cold! And her fingers were clutching at him tightly that he was pretty sure that she was trying to crush them.
The press, of course did not miss this gentlemanly moment and clicked away faster than possible. Giving them more fodder, Christopher slowly placed his arm around her, pulling in close to her body. When she turned her head to glare up at him, he could not help but taunt, " Bear it princess. It is better than falling face first in front of worldwide media."
Smiling thinly, at him, Jeannie finally spoke the words she had been wanting to," Prince Christopher Sebastian Lucille Sparks, I am going to kill you."
Laughing heartily to her cute threat, Christopher guided Jeannie out of the airport, surrounded by the security guards. However, he did not forget to goad some more," You are welcome to try sweetheart."
